Map of the site: https://mcmodshub.com/llms.txt --- ## About MC Mods Hub — who we are and where the content comes from Source: https://mcmodshub.com/about ## About MC Mods Hub MC Mods Hub is a catalogue of Minecraft add-ons, mods, maps, skins and texture packs for both Bedrock and Java Edition. It exists because finding a mod is easy and finding one that actually installs is not: a file can be built for the wrong game version, ship half of a pack, or sit behind a download link that died months ago. Nothing on the store page tells you that in advance. We try to tell you. ### Where the mods come from We do not write mods. Every mod belongs to its author and is published by them on a public platform — CurseForge, Modrinth, Planet Minecraft and other community sites; 15 sources in total. We gather them into one searchable place, keep the link to the original page, and pass every download through to the file the author published. If you are an author and want your mod removed, or the attribution corrected, write to us and it will be done. There is also a formal route on our copyright page . ### What we add ourselves This is the part that is genuinely ours, and it is the reason the site exists rather than a list of links. We download the pack files and open them: - 38,880 Bedrock add-ons have been downloaded and checked — we know whether the link works and what came back. - 32,334 packs have been unpacked and read: what is inside, whether a behaviour pack arrived without the resource pack it needs, which Minecraft version the manifest actually demands, whether it needs Experimental APIs switched on. - 10,821 comments from players are published across the catalogue, and the problems they report feed back into the checks above. Those facts are printed on the mod pages under “Verified by MCModsHub”. They are measurements, not promises: “the manifest requires 1.21.0 or newer” is something we read out of the file, and we say it that way rather than guaranteeing the mod will work on your device. ### The apps The same catalogue powers four free Android apps — MC Bedrock Mods, MC Java Mods, Skin Maker and PixWall. They are free and need no account. A one-off in-app purchase removes the ads; it unlocks nothing else, because the paid and the free version get exactly the same catalogue. MC Bedrock Mods is the official mcmodshub.com app for Android: this site and that app are the same product. ### Contact Questions, corrections, takedown requests and bug reports all go to support@mcmodshub.com . There is more detail on the contact page . MC Mods Hub is not affiliated with Mojang Studios or Microsoft. Before you blame the version or the device: a lot of add-ons are built on top of a second pack that the download does not include. The short version: Some add-ons are built on top of another add-on. If that other pack is missing, yours imports and activates normally and then simply does nothing. ### How to recognise it The pack is in the list, you activated it, there is no error — and in the world nothing appears. Sometimes the pack list shows the entry greyed out or marked with a warning triangle; on some versions Minecraft writes missing dependency under the pack name. ### Why it happens Every Bedrock pack carries a manifest.json , and that file can declare dependencies — other packs, named by their UUID, that must be installed for this one to work. A library of shared entities and scripts is the usual case. The author installs the library once and forgets it is not part of the download. ### How common is it, really We opened and parsed the packs in our catalogue. Measured on 5 September 2026: of the 39,561 archives analysed, 2,302 declare a dependency they do not contain . That is not a guess from the description — it is read out of the manifest itself. The same scan sorts packs by what is actually inside: 20,423 are complete, 11,260 ship only a resource pack, and 5,480 only a behaviour pack. The middle group is the reason for the classic «it only changed the textures» complaint. ### How to find the missing pack - Rename the .mcpack to .zip and open manifest.json in any text editor. - Look for a "dependencies" block. Each entry has a uuid . - If a UUID there is not one of the packs you installed, that is your missing piece. - Search that UUID together with the add-on's name — the required library is usually published by the same author on the same page. On mod pages here we do this step for you: where we can resolve the missing UUID to a pack in the catalogue, the page names it and links to it. ### When there is nothing to install Sometimes the declared dependency does not exist publicly at all — the author shipped a pack that was only ever complete on their own device. Then the add-on cannot be made to work, and that is worth knowing before you spend an evening on it. If you would rather not do any of this by hand: our free app imports a pack in one tap and tells you up front when a file is incomplete. Work down this list in order: the first cause is the usual one, and the missing-dependency one is the sneakiest. Written for Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.x and 26.x (v1.26.30 in the game is 26.30 on our pages). Quick fix: an imported addon is not an active addon. - Open the world, tap Edit , go to Behavior Packs , then Available , and tap Activate . - Do the same under Resource Packs . Both packs must be on, in every world you want to use the addon in. - Still nothing? Check for a missing dependency , turn on Beta APIs , and update Minecraft and the app. What our own reports say: between 16 June and 2 August 2026 we read 24,197 “this mod is broken” reports from our app. 35.7% said the file never arrived and 35.0% said Minecraft would not open it. Only 16.7% were about an addon that imported and then misbehaved in the game, which is the case this page is mostly about. Source: we read 24,197 reports . ### 1. The pack isn't activated in your world This is the number one reason an addon "doesn't show up." Opening the file imports it into Minecraft; you still have to switch it on for each world: - Open your world, tap Edit (the pencil), then Behavior Packs and the Available tab. Tap the pack, then Activate . - Do the same under Resource Packs , Available , Activate . This is the textures and the look. - Both should now appear under Active . Press Play . Active Available Behavior Pack tap → Activate Activate The step everyone misses: Available → Activate Behavior Packs, Active tab: the addon is switched on for this world Full walkthrough with both packs: How to install Bedrock addons . ### 2. Behavior pack vs resource pack: enable both Most addons are really two packs that work as a pair, and Minecraft lists them in two different places: - Behavior pack carries the rules: new mobs, item logic, recipes, scripts. - Resource pack carries the look: textures, models, sounds, names. Switch on only the behavior pack and the new things exist but can look wrong: invisible, pink-and-black, or named with raw text. Switch on only the resource pack and you get new textures but none of the new behavior. Some addons ship just one of the two, so you will only find one entry; that is normal. When there are two, activate both, in every world . Resource Packs → Available: open the Owned list, find the pack, tap Activate ### 3. The addon needs another addon (missing dependency) Some addons are built on top of a second pack: a shared library, a "core" pack, or the first part of a series. The addon's manifest names that pack as a dependency . If it isn't installed, yours imports and activates without any error, and then does nothing, or Minecraft shows a missing-dependency warning next to it. - Open the addon's page and read the description for words like "requires", "needs" or "install first". - Download and import the required pack the same way as the main one. - Activate both in the same world, then press Play again. It is not rare. When we scanned our catalogue on 5 September 2026, 2,302 of the 39,561 packs we had analysed declared a dependency that is not inside their own file, and about 7.6% of the add-ons we had opened by 2 August were only half a pack. How to spot it, why it happens and what to do when the description says nothing: Your add-on needs another add-on . ### 4. Scripted items still do nothing → enable Beta APIs If the addon activated but custom items, mobs or commands don't work, the addon probably uses scripts. In the world's Settings → Experiments , turn on "Beta APIs" , then play again. Of the 32,897 Bedrock packs we had opened by 2 August 2026, 1,560 (4.7%) ask for an experimental toggle, and those packs drew 2.15 reports per 1,000 opens against 0.62 for the rest (27 July to 2 August). The numbers and the method are in 1,560 add-ons need one Minecraft toggle . World settings → Experiments → Beta APIs The set of experiment toggles changes between Minecraft versions. If the addon says it needs one, enable it under Settings → Experiments in the world; for scripted addons that is usually Beta APIs . Turning experiments on disables achievements in that world, so use a copy of important worlds. ### 5. Wrong edition (Java file on Bedrock, or vice versa) Bedrock and Java don't share mod files. Bedrock addons are .mcpack / .mcaddon ; a Java mod is a .jar and will never import into the mobile, console or Windows Bedrock game. Check you grabbed the Bedrock version, and if you're on Java, see the Java mods guide . ### 6. Old Minecraft or app version → update first Two things can be too old. First, the game: a pack built for a newer Minecraft version may not show up or work on an old one, so update Minecraft from your store. Second, our app: many "won't download / won't import" reports come from older app versions whose bugs are already fixed. Update MC Bedrock Mods on Google Play, then try the addon again. ### 7. The file won't import / says it's invalid → use in-app repair Some community files are packaged in a way Minecraft rejects, for example a wrapper folder or a stray __MACOSX entry from being zipped on a Mac. The app detects and repacks these automatically so they import cleanly. If a file refused to import, re-download it in the app to get the repaired version, then open it again. After a good import Minecraft shows a "Successfully imported" message: The confirmation banner: if you never see it, the import did not happen ### 8. The download opens a website instead of a file A few items are hosted on another community site, so the app opens that page, because we're not allowed to host the file directly. Download it there, then open the downloaded file; it imports into Minecraft the same way. If you'd rather not leave the app, search for the same name and pick a result that downloads in-app. Wherever you download from, stick to trusted sources: see how to download Bedrock addons safely . ### 9. Android, Windows, iOS and consoles: what changes The activation steps are the same everywhere. What differs is how the file gets into Minecraft, and that is where "not showing" often starts. The full per-platform walkthrough is in the install guide ; here are the parts that matter when something is missing. #### Android This is the path our app is built for: tap Download, tap the file, Minecraft opens and imports. If the file opens in an archive or file-viewer app instead, go back and choose Minecraft. Don't unzip it by hand. #### Windows 10 and 11 Double-click the .mcpack or .mcaddon file and Minecraft for Windows (the Bedrock edition) opens and imports it. If Windows asks which app to use, pick Minecraft. The Java edition and its launchers don't import these files. #### iPhone and iPad (iOS, iPadOS) Our one-tap app flow isn't available there. Save the file to the Files app, then share or open it with Minecraft; the exact wording of the share menu changes between iOS versions. After the import, activate the packs in the world as usual. If you have an iPhone and an Android phone, importing on Android is the simpler test. #### Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch (console) A console has no way to open an .mcpack file, so third-party addons can't be installed on the console itself. The route people use is to set the addon up in a world on a PC or phone and play that world on the console through Realms. This path is limited and depends on your platform, version and subscription, so check the official guidance at help.minecraft.net before you spend time on it. ### 10. Still broken? Report it from the app If a specific addon genuinely won't download, report it from its page in the app. We look at every report and flag broken downloads, and the app will often suggest a working alternative you can grab right away. #### Get MC Bedrock Mods Auto-repair for tricky files, in-app diagnosis, and a working alternative when a download fails. Free on Android. Google Play ### Frequently asked questions Addon installed but not showing up in game — why? Almost always the pack was imported but never switched on in the world. Open the world, tap Edit, then Behavior Packs, Available, tap the pack and Activate, and do the same under Resource Packs. If it still does nothing, check that the addon does not need a second addon (a missing dependency), that Beta APIs is on for scripted addons, and that Minecraft and the app are up to date. Addon imported but doesn't appear in the pack list Packs live in the world settings, not on the main menu: world, Edit, then Behavior Packs or Resource Packs, and the Available tab (not Active). If a pack is missing there, the import probably failed or the file was a Java mod: look for the "Successfully imported" message, check it is a Bedrock .mcpack or .mcaddon, and update Minecraft, since a pack built for a newer game version may not be usable on an old one. Does the addon need to be enabled in each world? Yes. Importing puts the addon into Minecraft once, but behavior packs are switched on per world, so every world where you want the addon needs its own Activate. Resource packs can also be switched on for all worlds through Settings, Global Resources. Why does the addon work on Android but not on my iPhone? Our app and its one-tap import are Android only, so on iPhone you have to get the file into Minecraft yourself (save it to Files, then share it to Minecraft). The addon itself is the same, so the usual causes still apply: the packs are not activated, a second addon is missing, Beta APIs is off, or Minecraft is out of date. If the file never imported, try it on an Android phone or a PC and move the world over. Is it safe to download addons? A real Bedrock addon is a .mcpack or .mcaddon file that only opens inside Minecraft. Download from trusted sources, and treat any "addon" that asks you to run an .exe, .bat or install a separate .apk as a warning sign. Our short checklist is in how to download Bedrock addons safely . I downloaded the addon but it's not in Minecraft at all Open the downloaded file again so Minecraft imports it. Then activate it: world, Edit, Behavior Packs, Available, tap the pack, Activate, and the same for Resource Packs. Updating the app first clears up many import problems. It imported but the items or mobs don't appear or work Check the Resource Pack is active for the textures and, if the addon is scripted, enable Beta APIs in the world's Experiments settings. Both packs of an addon usually need to be on, and some addons also need another addon installed. The file says it's invalid or won't import It may be packaged in a way Minecraft rejects, such as a wrapper folder or a __MACOSX entry. The app repacks these automatically, so re-download it in the app and open the repaired file. Make sure it is a Bedrock .mcpack or .mcaddon and not a Java .jar. Why does the download open a website? That item is hosted on another community site, so the app opens its page rather than hosting the file. Download it there and open the file; it imports the same way. Or search the same name for a result that downloads in-app. ### Related guides // bedrock Install Bedrock addons & mods // troubleshooting Your add-on needs another add-on // safety Download Bedrock addons safely // bedrock Install Bedrock maps (.mcworld) // java Install Java mods & modpacks Ready to download? What changed is the game underneath it. This page explains the three things a Bedrock update actually breaks — and which of them you can fix yourself in under a minute. The short version: the pack still imports and still activates. It just does nothing, because the scripts inside it no longer run. In most cases the fix is one toggle — Beta APIs — and in the rest you need the build of the addon made for your version of the game. ### Why an update breaks a pack that never changed A Bedrock addon is not a program that runs on top of Minecraft. It is a bundle of descriptions — blocks, entities, recipes, textures — that the game reads and executes itself. So when the game changes how it reads them, a pack that was correct last week can become unreadable this week, without a single byte of it changing. Three things change on a game update, and they fail in visibly different ways: - The minimum version the pack declares. Every pack states the oldest game version it is built for. Update the game and old packs keep working; it is the opposite direction that hurts — a pack built for a newer version simply will not load on an older game. - The scripting API. Addons with custom logic use Minecraft's script modules, and those are versioned separately from the game. When the game moves to a newer module, packs pinned to the old one stop executing — silently. - The experimental toggles. Features move in and out of the "Experiments" list between releases. A pack that relied on one that got renamed or removed goes quiet. ### Which of the three is yours — a 30-second triage Before you start changing settings, find out which failure you actually have. The symptoms are distinct enough to tell apart: What you see What it is Where to go Pack activates. Textures and blocks look right. Custom items, mobs or commands do nothing. Scripts are not running One toggle fixes it Pack activates. Absolutely nothing appears — no blocks, no mobs, no menu entries. Wrong build for your version How version targeting works Pack refuses to appear in the Available list at all, or errors on import. Not a version problem Import troubleshooting Those two linked pages go deep with the actual numbers — how many packs need the toggle, how the catalogue spreads across game versions. This page stays on the part they do not cover: what to do when the trigger was an update, and which direction the incompatibility runs. ### The rule that decides everything: which direction the gap runs Version incompatibility in Bedrock is not symmetric, and almost every wasted hour of troubleshooting comes from not knowing that. A newer game runs older packs. An older game does not run newer packs. A pack built for 1.16 will almost certainly still work on 1.21 — the format it declares is a floor , not a target. A pack built for 1.26 on a 1.21 game will not load, and no toggle, reinstall or repair changes that. So the moment you know your own version, you know which fixes are even possible: - You updated the game and the addon is older than it. The update is almost never the real cause. Look at the scripting toggle first — that is the failure an update actually triggers. - You updated the addon and it is newer than your game. Nothing to configure. Update Minecraft from your store, or take an older build of the same addon. To read your own version: Settings → About in Minecraft. You only need the first two parts — 1.21, 1.20 and so on. ### When the addon needs a newer game than you have The one case you cannot work around from your side, and the one worth recognising early so you stop trying. If the pack is built for a line above yours, it will not load — there is no setting for it. If you are deliberately staying on an older version — plenty of people are, for a server or a world they would rather not migrate — the workable answer is not to fight the newest releases but to filter the catalogue to builds made for your line. Older versions are far better served than people expect: packs targeting 1.16 and 1.17 are still a large share of everything published, because they were finished, they worked, and their authors moved on. ### What is not the problem Three theories we see constantly in support messages, all of which send people down the wrong path: - "The file is corrupted." Almost never. A genuinely broken archive fails at import with a visible error. A pack that imports cleanly and then does nothing is a version or scripting problem, not a damaged file. - "I need to reinstall Minecraft." It does not help, and you risk your worlds. Nothing in the failure mode above lives in the game installation. - "The addon was removed / patched by Mojang." Mojang does not disable third-party addons. What happens is that the interface the addon relied on moved. ### Still nothing? Work through the general checklist in Addon not showing up or won't import — it covers activation, wrong edition and app-version problems, which account for most of what is left after the version issues above. If the addon consists of two halves — a behaviour pack and a resource pack — and only one imported, that is its own failure mode and it is worth checking separately: half an addon activates perfectly and does half of nothing. --- ## Wear a skin — MCModsHub Source: https://mcmodshub.com/guides/apply-skin-visual.html ## Wear the skin 👕 Downloading it is not enough — pick it in the Dressing Room. There are two cases depending on the file you have: a .mcpack skin pack, or a single .png . ### Case A — a skin pack (.mcpack) #### Open the .mcpack — it imports automatically Tap the downloaded .mcpack . Minecraft opens and adds the skins to your collection — no world, no extra steps. #### Open the Dressing Room and wear it Tap your character to open the Dressing Room → Owned → tap a skin to put it on. Owned tap a skin to wear it ✓ Dressing Room → Owned → tap to wear ### Case B — a single skin (.png) #### Open the Dressing Room → Choose New Skin Open the Dressing Room and tap "Choose New Skin" . Choose New Skin Dressing Room → Choose New Skin #### Pick the .png file Select the .png file and confirm. It becomes your skin and applies to your character everywhere. Skins aren't addons. They don't need a world or Beta APIs — once chosen, your skin applies to your character in every world. If a skin is stretched or wrong, it may be the other model type: skins come in classic (Steve) and slim (Alex) arm widths. #### Make your own with Skin Maker Design or AI-generate a custom Minecraft skin and apply it in a tap — no copying files by hand. Free on Android and iOS. ### Frequently asked questions Do skins go into a world like addons? No. Skins live in the Dressing Room and apply to your character everywhere. There's nothing to activate in a world and no Beta APIs needed. I opened a .png but don't see it A single .png is applied from the Dressing Room via "Choose New Skin", not by importing like a pack. Open the Dressing Room, tap Choose New Skin, then pick the .png. My skin looks stretched or the arms are wrong Minecraft has two body models — classic (wider arms, "Steve") and slim ("Alex"). Choose the model that matches how the skin was drawn. Can I edit a skin before using it? Yes — open the .png in Skin Maker to tweak it, then apply. You can also design one from scratch or generate one with AI. ### Related guides // bedrock Install Bedrock addons & mods // bedrock Install Bedrock maps (.mcworld) // troubleshooting Addon not showing up / won't import // java Install Java mods & modpacks Ready to download? Source: https://mcmodshub.com/guides/bedrock-vs-java-mods.html Bedrock vs Java Minecraft mods — what's the difference? | MC Mods Hub Explainer · Bedrock & Java ## Bedrock vs Java Minecraft mods — what's the difference? "Bedrock" and "Java" are two separate games that both happen to be called Minecraft. They don't share a mod format, and a file built for one will never do anything in the other — this is why so many downloads "don't work." The short version: Bedrock mods are called add-ons ( .mcpack / .mcaddon ) and Java mods are .jar files loaded by Forge, Fabric or NeoForge. Neither format opens in the other game. ### 1. Which one do I have? Both are Minecraft, so the name alone doesn't tell you. What tells you is where you got it and how you play it: - Bedrock Edition — the version on Android, iOS, Windows (Microsoft Store), Xbox, PlayStation and Switch. Bought with a Microsoft account, has a Marketplace inside the game. - Java Edition — the PC-only version bought on minecraft.net and launched through the official Minecraft Launcher. No Marketplace; mods come from outside the game. If you play on a phone or tablet, you have Bedrock — there is no Java Edition for mobile. ### 2. Different file, different game Bedrock Java Called Add-ons Mods File type .mcpack / .mcaddon .jar Needs Nothing extra — Minecraft imports it directly A mod loader: Forge, Fabric or NeoForge Install location Imported, then activated per-world .minecraft/mods folder Written in JSON + optional JavaScript (add-on scripting) Java, using the loader's modding API Minecraft picks how to open a file by its extension and internal format — a .jar has no meaning to Bedrock, and a .mcpack has no meaning to the Java Launcher. This is a platform boundary, not a bug either side could "just fix." ### 3. Can I get Java-style mods on Bedrock? Not by running the same file — but some Bedrock creators build add-ons that recreate a feature Java is known for (a Java-style hunger/saturation system, a popular Java mod's mechanic, and so on) using Bedrock's own add-on format. Those show up in our catalog as ordinary .mcaddon add-ons; they are new files written for Bedrock, not ports that run the original Java code. ### 4. Can I use a Bedrock add-on on Java, or the reverse? No, in either direction. There's no setting or converter that makes one edition read the other's format — you need the version of the content actually built for your edition. ### 5. Which app do I need? We split this by edition so you don't end up with content that isn't there: MC Bedrock Mods for add-ons, maps, texture packs and skins, and MC Java Mods for Forge/Fabric/NeoForge mods and modpacks. Installing the wrong one for your edition means the exact mod you want simply won't be in the catalog. #### Get the right app for your edition MC Bedrock Mods for add-ons, maps & skins; MC Java Mods for Forge/Fabric/NeoForge. Free on Android. Google Play ### Frequently asked questions Will a .jar file work on Minecraft Bedrock (mobile/console)? No. Bedrock has no mod loader and cannot read a Java .jar at all — opening one does nothing. Will a .mcpack or .mcaddon work on Minecraft Java Edition? No. The Java Launcher and Forge/Fabric/NeoForge don't recognize Bedrock's add-on format. How do I know which edition my Minecraft is? Mobile, console and the Microsoft Store PC version are Bedrock. The version bought on minecraft.net and run through the Minecraft Launcher on PC is Java. Are there Bedrock add-ons that copy a popular Java mod's idea? Sometimes — creators rebuild a Java-style mechanic as a native Bedrock add-on. It's a new file written for Bedrock's format, not the original mod running unmodified. ### Related guides // bedrock Install Bedrock addons & mods // java Install Java mods & modpacks // fix Addon not showing up / won't import // fix Java mod not working / crash fix Know your edition now? Here is how to tell a trustworthy source from a bad one, and which sources we would use. Written for Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.x and 26.x. The short version: (1) Use the in-game Marketplace, CurseForge or a community site where you can see the author and the exact file. (2) A real addon is a .mcpack , .mcaddon or .zip ; an .apk or .exe is never an addon. (3) Walk away from "click five ads" pages and from free copies of paid Marketplace packs. ### What makes a source safe No site can promise that every file on it is harmless, including ours. What you can do is judge a source by what it shows you and how it behaves. Five things matter: - The file was opened by someone. The best sources, and any catalog worth using, look inside the pack and tell you what they found: its manifest, the game version it asks for, whether it is complete. A bare download link tells you nothing. - No re-packed paid content. Packs sold on the Minecraft Marketplace belong to their creators. A source that hands them out free is distributing something it has no right to, and you cannot know what else was changed in the file. - Dependencies are declared. Many addons need a second pack to work. A good source says so on the page. A source that never mentions it gives you a download that imports and then does nothing. - The file matches what it claims to be. Bedrock content is .mcpack , .mcaddon , .mcworld , .mctemplate or a .zip of those. Anything else (an installer, an .apk , an .exe ) is not an addon, whatever the button says. - No toll booth. "Watch five ads", "complete a survey", "verify you are human" by installing something: the page is earning from your click, not helping you get the file. ### Sources we'd use These are facts about how each source works as of October 2026, not a ranking. All of them carry content from many different authors, so the checks above still apply. #### Minecraft Marketplace The official in-game store ( minecraft.net/marketplace ). Content is made by approved creators and delivered inside Minecraft, so there is no file to download or open by hand. Most of it costs Minecoins, and some is free. It is the safest route when you are happy to pay or when a free pack is there. #### CurseForge A large ( Bedrock section ), long-established platform with a Minecraft Bedrock section. Authors publish under their own account, each file has a version and a changelog, and the page shows which Minecraft version it was made for. Downloads happen on CurseForge itself rather than through a chain of redirects. #### MCPEDL One of the oldest ( mcpedl.com ) community sites for Bedrock content, with a big archive. Pages show the author and the supported version. Some download links lead to the author's own hosting, and the pages carry ads, so make sure the button you press downloads the file and is not an advertisement. #### Planet Minecraft A community site ( planetminecraft.com ) where creators post maps, skins, texture packs and other projects, with comments from other players under each one. Quality varies by author, so read the comments and check the file type before you open it. #### ModBay A community site ( modbay.org ) for Bedrock addons and other content. Same advice: look at who posted it, what the file is, and what the comments say. #### Our catalog and the MC Bedrock Mods app MC Mods Hub gathers Bedrock content from public sources and keeps a link to the original page for every item. For most addons we also keep a copy of the file, so the download does not send you through another site, and we open the file to read what is inside it (details below). We do not write the addons: each belongs to its author. MC Bedrock Mods is the official mcmodshub.com app for Android, and it imports the file into Minecraft in one tap. ### What we check in our catalog These numbers are printed by our own pages, and each carries the date it was measured. They count files, not promises: they say what we could read, not that an addon will work on your phone. - Add-ons: 23,653 of 26,653 download straight in our app from our own copy of the file. We opened 21,804 of those and found a complete pack inside; 164 failed that check and are listed lower on the page. Source: /bedrock/addons , last file check 2026-10-05. - Shaders: 902 of 942 download straight in our app. We opened 875 and found a complete pack; 17 failed. Source: /bedrock/shaders , last file check 2026-10-05. - Missing dependencies: 2,302 packages declare a dependency they do not ship, which means the download alone cannot work. This is read from the manifest, not guessed. Measured 2026-09-05, across the 39,561 archives we had analysed at that point (sources: your add-on needs another add-on and llms.txt ). - Where downloads really fail: we read 24,197 “this mod is broken” reports from our app between 16 June and 2 August 2026. 35.7% said the file never arrived and 35.0% said Minecraft would not open it, so about seven in ten problems happen before the addon ever runs. Only 16.7% were about the addon misbehaving in the game. Details: we read 24,197 reports . - On every addon page: the Minecraft versions the author lists, the file type, the download size and the date of our last link check, for example “Download link checked 30 Jun 2026” on Modern Furniture . If an addon needs the Beta APIs experiment or a second pack, the page says so where our check found it. We also do not want paid Marketplace packs in the catalog, and we remove them when we find one. The numbers on the hub pages change daily, so they may be higher or lower by the time you read this. What our check does not do: it reads the structure of a pack, it does not run it in the game, and it is not an antivirus scan. The rule from the first section still holds for our files too. ### Red flags - The download is an .apk , .exe , .msi , .bat or an installer. Bedrock addons are never programs. - A .jar offered for Bedrock. It is a Java Edition mod and will not open on a phone or console; it is a sign the page is careless at best. See Bedrock vs Java mods . - You must install a "download manager", "launcher" or "optimizer" first. - The page asks you to switch off your phone's protection, or to allow unknown apps, to "install the addon". Addons need neither. - "Click five ads", surveys, or a countdown that loops through several short links before the file. - A paid Marketplace pack offered for free, or an archive locked with a password that you get from a chat channel. - No author, no version and no description: a title and a button, and nothing else. ### After you download: how to install Open the file and Minecraft imports it. Then activate the packs inside your world, which is the step most people miss. The full flow is in How to install Minecraft Bedrock addons & mods . If you got an .mcaddon on Android, this page covers the file-opening part. #### Get MC Bedrock Mods Auto-repair for tricky files, in-app diagnosis, and a working alternative when a download fails. Free on Android. Google Play ### FAQ Where can I download Minecraft Bedrock addons safely? Use a source that shows you the author, the file type and the game version: the in-game Marketplace, CurseForge, MCPEDL, Planet Minecraft or a catalog that opens the files, like ours. A real addon is a .mcpack , .mcaddon or .zip ; an .apk or .exe is never an addon. Walk away from "click five ads" pages and from free copies of paid Marketplace packs. No site, including ours, can promise that every file is harmless. Is MCPEDL safe? We cannot certify any site we do not run. MCPEDL is a long-running community site where authors post Bedrock content, and many people use it without trouble. Treat it like every community source: look at who posted the file, make sure the file you open ends in .mcpack, .mcaddon or .zip, and do not press buttons that belong to ads. The same checks apply to Planet Minecraft, ModBay and every other site on this page. Can an addon contain a virus? A real Bedrock addon is data that Minecraft reads: JSON definitions, textures, sounds, and sometimes scripts that run inside the game. It is not an Android or Windows program. The danger is the wrapper: an .apk or .exe sold as an addon, an installer or a "downloader" you must run first, or a page that asks you to turn off your phone's protection. If the file is a .mcpack, .mcaddon or .zip and it opens in Minecraft, it is an addon. If it is anything else, do not open it. Are addons free? Most addons from community sites are free. The Minecraft Marketplace sells content for Minecoins, and some authors offer optional paid versions or early access. If a site offers a well-known Marketplace pack for free, treat that as a red flag: it is almost always a re-upload of paid content, and the file may not even work. Why does an addon ask me to download another addon? Some addons are built on top of a second pack, and the manifest of the first one lists it as a dependency. That is normal and not a sign of a scam, but it does mean the download alone cannot work. We explain how to find the missing pack in Your add-on needs another add-on . ### Related guides // bedrock Install Bedrock addons & mods // troubleshooting Addon not showing up / won't import // troubleshooting Your add-on needs another add-on // bedrock & java Bedrock vs Java Minecraft mods: what's the difference? The game imports it: a pack shows up under Resource Packs or Behavior Packs when you create or edit a world, and a map appears in your world list. No computer and no jailbreak needed. ### The quickest way: Addonaut Addonaut is a free iPhone and iPad app with a catalogue of add-ons, maps, texture packs, shaders and skins, searchable by name and by theme (horror, vehicles, furniture, dragons…). Only work whose authors allowed it to be shared is listed, and every item links to its original page. #### Get Addonaut Free on iPhone and iPad. Open in the App Store - Open Addonaut, find an add-on in the catalogue and tap Download . The share sheet opens by itself when the file is in. - Pick Minecraft in the row of apps. To keep the file for later, pick Save to Files instead. - Minecraft opens and imports the file; a short message at the top of the screen confirms it. - Tap Play → Create New World . If Minecraft first shows a "Create from…" page with Marketplace content, tap Create New World on it again. - In the left column, scroll down to Behavior Packs (add-ons) or Resource Packs (textures, shaders), open the Available tab and tap Activate next to the pack. To add it to a world you already have, tap the pencil next to that world instead of Create New World. The pack may be listed under its in-game name, which can differ from the title in the catalogue — and in your game's language. Some add-ons also need Experiments switched on in the same screen; their description says so. A map ( .mcworld ) needs no activation: after the import it is in your world list. Minecraft has to be installed on the same iPhone or iPad; if it is missing from the row of apps, swipe the row to the end and tap More . ### Without an app: from Safari - Open the add-on's page and download the file. Safari puts it in Files → Downloads . - In Files, tap the file. If iOS shows a preview instead of opening Minecraft, tap Share → Minecraft . - Activate the pack in the world settings, as above. If the file came as a .zip , it is not ready to import: see Unable to find manifest in pack . ### Which file is which File What it is Where it appears .mcaddon behavior pack and resource pack together both lists .mcpack one pack: resources (textures, shaders) or behavior Resource Packs or Behavior Packs .mcworld a whole map the world list .mctemplate a world template Create New World → Templates ### If it doesn't work - Add-on installed but nothing shows up - Add-on stopped working after an update - The add-on needs another add-on - Wrong file extension (.mcpack vs .mcaddon) ### FAQ Is it free? Yes. Addonaut is free, and downloading from the catalogue costs nothing. The app can show ads; an optional purchase removes them. Do I need an account? No — neither for Addonaut nor for downloading. Does it work on iPad? Yes, the same way. Can I make my own skin on iPhone? Yes — Addonaut has a skin studio: draw pixel by pixel, dress up from a wardrobe, or describe an idea and let the app draw it, then export a .mcpack . ### Related guides // bedrock Install Bedrock addons & mods // android Install a .mcaddon or .mcpack on Android Addonaut and MCModsHub are not official Minecraft products and are not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. --- ## How to install Bedrock addons & mods (2026) Source: https://mcmodshub.com/guides/install-bedrock-addons.html How to install Bedrock addons & mods (2026) | MC Mods Hub Bedrock Edition · addons & mods ## How to install Minecraft Bedrock addons & mods By Artem Lashkul, MC Mods Hub · Updated October 6, 2026 Bedrock addons come as .mcpack or .mcaddon files. Installing one is three quick steps, but most "the addon doesn't work" problems come from missing the last one: activating the packs in your world . Here is the full flow, with what changes on Windows, iPhone and consoles. Quick install: - Download the addon and open the file: Minecraft imports it by itself. - Open your world, tap Edit , then activate the pack under Behavior Packs and under Resource Packs . - Press Play . Scripted items do nothing? Turn on Beta APIs in Experiments. ### Before you start - Minecraft: Bedrock Edition installed on the device where you will play, and up to date. This guide is written for Bedrock 1.21.x and the newer 26.x releases; the version is printed in the bottom-left corner of the main menu, and v1.26.30 there is 26.30 on our pages. (Java Edition uses different files, see the Java mods guide .) - An addon file ending in .mcpack or .mcaddon , from a source you trust (see Is it safe? ). - About two minutes. No PC, cables or file managers are needed on a phone or tablet. ### Step by step (Android) This is the flow in the MC Bedrock Mods app, shown with real screenshots from an Android phone. Other platforms follow the same idea; the differences are in the platform section . #### Download the addon In the MC Bedrock Mods app, open the addon and tap Download . You'll get a .mcpack or .mcaddon file. Step 1: open the addon, tap Download #### Open the file: Minecraft imports it Tap the downloaded file. It opens in Minecraft and imports automatically, and you'll see a confirmation. Nothing is copied or unzipped by hand. Step 2: the "Successfully imported" banner means Minecraft has the addon #### Activate the Behavior Pack in your world In Minecraft: open your world, tap Edit (the pencil), then Behavior Packs , the Available tab, tap the pack and Activate . Active Available Behavior Pack tap to add to world Activate Behavior Packs → Available → tap the pack → Activate Step 3: the pack now sits under Active #### Activate the Resource Pack too Now do the same under Resource Packs , Available , Activate . This is the textures and the look; without it the addon's items and mobs may be invisible or wrong. Resource Pack textures & look Activate Resource Packs → Available → tap the pack → Activate Step 4: Resource Packs → Available: open the Owned list, find the pack, tap Activate #### Press Play Both packs now show under the Active tab. Press Play and the addon is live in that world. Behavior Pack ✓ active Resource Pack ✓ active Step 5: in the world, the addon is working Items still doing nothing after activating? Some addons use scripts. In the world's Settings → Experiments , turn on "Beta APIs" , then play again. (The set of experiment toggles changes between Minecraft versions: if the addon says it needs a different one, enable that too. For scripted addons it is usually Beta APIs.) World settings → Experiments → Beta APIs Tip: turn a texture pack on for every world at once. Texture and visual packs can be enabled globally via Settings → Global Resources → My Packs → Activate instead of per world. ### Behavior pack vs resource pack: enable both Most addons are two packs that work as a pair, and Minecraft lists them in two different places: - Behavior pack: the rules. New mobs, item logic, recipes, scripts. - Resource pack: the look. Textures, models, sounds, names. Only the behavior pack on: the new things exist but can be invisible, pink-and-black or show raw text names. Only the resource pack on: nice textures, no new behavior. Some addons ship just one of the two, which is fine. When there are two, activate both, in every world you want to use the addon in. ### When the addon needs another addon (missing dependency) Some addons are built on top of a second pack, such as a shared library or the first part of a series. That other pack is called a dependency . If it is missing, your addon imports and activates quietly and then does nothing, or Minecraft shows a missing-dependency warning. Read the addon's description for "requires" or "install first", import the required pack the same way, and activate both in the same world. Details: Your add-on needs another add-on . ### Android, Windows, iOS, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch Activation in the world (steps 3 to 5) is identical on every platform. What changes is how the file gets into Minecraft. #### Android The smoothest path: download in our app, tap the file, Minecraft imports it. Without the app, a file from your browser's Downloads works too: tap it and choose Minecraft. If it opens in an archive app, go back and pick Minecraft; don't unzip it. #### Windows 10 and 11 Download the .mcpack or .mcaddon file and double-click it. Minecraft for Windows (the Bedrock edition) opens and imports it. If Windows asks which app to use, choose Minecraft. Java Edition and its launchers don't read these files. #### iPhone and iPad (iOS, iPadOS) Our one-tap flow is Android only. On iOS, save the file to the Files app, then share or open it with Minecraft; the wording of the share menu changes between iOS versions. After the "Successfully imported" message, activate the packs in the world exactly as above. (Our iPhone app, Addonaut, has its own catalogue of add-ons and hands the file to the game through the same share menu.) On iPhone? There is a step-by-step guide just for it: Minecraft Bedrock add-ons on iPhone and iPad . #### Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch (console) A console can't open an .mcpack file, so third-party addons can't be installed on the console itself. The route people use is to set up a world with the addon on a PC or phone, then play that world on the console through Realms. It is a limited path that depends on your platform, game version and subscription, and we haven't tested every console combination. Check the official help at help.minecraft.net before relying on it. Marketplace content is the officially supported way to get addons on a console. ### .mcpack vs .mcaddon: what's the difference? A .mcpack is a single pack (one behavior pack, or one resource/texture pack). A .mcaddon bundles several packs together, and opening it imports all of them at once. Either way the install flow is the same: open the file, then activate the packs in your world. ### Is it safe? Download from trusted sources A genuine Bedrock addon is just a .mcpack or .mcaddon file that opens inside Minecraft. It never needs you to run an .exe or .bat on a PC or install a separate .apk ; if a page asks for that, close it. Prefer sources that show the file type, the Minecraft versions it supports and who made it. The short checklist is in how to download Bedrock addons safely . ### Installed but not showing up? Most of the time it is one of three things: a pack that was imported but not activated, only one of the two packs switched on, or a missing second addon. Work through Minecraft addon not showing up or won't import . #### Get MC Bedrock Mods Browse 26,653 Bedrock addons (count on 5 October 2026), plus maps, skins & textures: tap to download and the game imports it. Free on Android. Google Play ### Frequently asked questions I opened the file but nothing happens in my world Importing the file is not the same as turning it on. Open your world, tap Edit, go to Behavior Packs, Available, tap the pack and Activate, then do the same under Resource Packs. If the addon uses scripts, also enable Beta APIs under the world's Experiments settings. Still nothing: see addon not showing up . Do I have to import the addon again for every new world? No. You import the file once and Minecraft keeps the packs in its own storage. For each new world, open Edit and activate the behavior pack and the resource pack there (steps 3 and 4 above). Do I need a PC to install Bedrock addons? No. On a phone or tablet everything happens on the device: download the file, open it, and Minecraft imports it. On Windows you just double-click the file. Xbox, PlayStation and Switch are the exception, see the platform section above. Can I install addons on Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo Switch? Not directly: a console cannot open an .mcpack or .mcaddon file. The route people use is to set up the world with the addon on a PC or phone and play it on the console through Realms. It is limited and depends on platform, version and subscription, so check help.minecraft.net first. How do I install an addon on an iPhone or iPad? Save the .mcpack or .mcaddon file to the Files app, then share or open it with Minecraft; the wording of the share menu depends on your iOS version. After the "Successfully imported" message, activate the packs in the world the same way as on Android (steps 3 and 4). What should I check before opening a downloaded addon file? Look at the file name first: it should end in .mcpack or .mcaddon and open straight into Minecraft. If it is an .exe, .bat or .apk, or the page tells you to install a downloader, close it. Prefer pages that show the author and the supported game versions. The long version is in how to download Bedrock addons safely . Where do addons download to? The file saves to your Downloads, and tapping it hands it to Minecraft. You don't need to find or move it manually; once imported it lives inside Minecraft's own pack storage. The addon imported but items are invisible or pink/black That is the Resource Pack not being active. Go to Resource Packs, Available, Activate. The Resource Pack carries the textures; the Behavior Pack carries the behavior. Most addons need both on. ### Related guides // troubleshooting Addon not showing up / won't import // troubleshooting Your add-on needs another add-on // safety Download Bedrock addons safely // bedrock Install Bedrock maps (.mcworld) // java Install Java mods & modpacks Ready to download? They only change how the game looks — so the steps are simpler than for addons. Good to know: a texture pack is a Resource Pack . It has no Behavior Pack — so if a guide tells you to activate one, that advice is for addons, not textures. ### 1. Install it from the app - Tap Download on the pack's page in MC Bedrock Mods . - When it finishes, tap "Import to Minecraft" — Minecraft opens and imports the pack by itself. - You'll see "Successfully imported" in Minecraft. That's it — no renaming, no file manager needed; the app even fixes .zip files automatically. ### 2. Turn it on — one world or everywhere For one world: - Open your world → Edit (pencil) → Resource Packs . - Tab Available → tap the pack → Activate . - It moves to Active → press Play . Active Available Resource Pack tap → Activate Activate Resource Packs → Available → Activate — the only switch textures need For every world at once: from the main menu go to Settings → Global Resources , find the pack under Available and activate it there. Great for UI packs and FPS-boost packs you always want on. ### 3. Nothing changed in game? - Double-check the pack is under Active (step 2) — importing alone doesn't turn it on. - Leave and re-enter the world after activating. - Some packs only change specific things (swords, UI, particles) — read the pack's description so you know what to look for. ### 4. Textures look broken — pink/black squares or missing blocks That's almost always a version mismatch : the pack was made for an older Minecraft. Check the version in the pack's description against your game, and try a newer build of the same pack — popular ones get re-uploaded for current versions. Searching the pack's name in the app usually finds an updated variant. ### 5. "Shader" packs — what to expect on Bedrock True shaders (fancy lighting, shadows, water reflections) are heavily limited on current Bedrock — the render engine doesn't allow the deep changes Java shaders make. Many packs labelled "shader" are actually texture packs that brighten colors or tweak the sky. If a "shader" didn't change the lighting, that's the platform limit, not a broken file. ### 6. It's a .zip / it won't import Files from other sites sometimes come as .zip or are packaged in a way Minecraft rejects. The app handles this for you: it detects what's inside, renames it to a proper .mcpack and repairs bad packaging automatically. If you have such a file from a friend or another site, use "Import from file" on the Downloads tab — the app will fix and import it. ### 7. Still broken? Report it from the app If a specific pack genuinely won't download or import, report it from its page in the app. We check broken files and usually fix or replace them within a day — and the app will often suggest a working alternative right away. #### Get MC Bedrock Mods Thousands of texture packs with one-tap import, auto-repair for tricky files, and in-app help when something won't work. Free on Android. Google Play ### Frequently asked questions Do texture packs need "Beta APIs" or experiments? No. Experiments are for scripted addons. A texture pack only needs to be activated under Resource Packs (or Global Resources) — no experiment toggles. Where is the Behavior Packs step? There isn't one — texture packs don't have a behavior part. Only addons (new mobs, items, mechanics) use Behavior Packs. The pack imported but my game looks the same Importing doesn't activate it. Open your world → Edit → Resource Packs → Available → Activate, or turn it on for all worlds in Settings → Global Resources. Then re-enter the world. I see pink and black squares The pack was built for an older Minecraft version. The whole trick is: unzip it , then drop the world folder into your saves folder. Here's the exact path. The one rule: the folder you place in saves must contain level.dat directly inside it — not a zip, and not a folder-inside-a-folder. ### What a Java map is A custom world — adventure map, parkour, puzzle, city build — is the same kind of save folder Minecraft makes for your own worlds. It almost always downloads as a .zip you have to extract first. A valid world folder has a level.dat file inside (plus region , data , and so on). ### Install it — step by step - Download the map's .zip from its page. - Extract it. Right-click the .zip → Extract All (or use 7-Zip / WinRAR). Minecraft can't read a zipped world, so don't skip this. - Check the folder has level.dat directly inside. If extraction made a folder-inside-a-folder (e.g. CoolMap\CoolMap\level.dat ), use the inner folder that actually holds level.dat . - Open your saves folder. Press Win + R , type %appdata%\.minecraft , press Enter, then open saves . - Move the world folder into saves so it sits as saves\CoolMap\level.dat . - Launch Minecraft on the matching version (and with any required mods/datapacks — see below). The world appears under Singleplayer . ### Where the saves folder is - Windows (default launcher): %appdata%\.minecraft\saves — paste %appdata%\.minecraft into the Explorer address bar, then open saves . - macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves — in Finder press ⌘+Shift+G and paste the path. - CurseForge App / Modrinth App / Prism / MultiMC: each instance has its own saves folder — open the instance ("Open folder") and use that, not the global .minecraft . ### Common gotchas If the map doesn't appear, it's almost always one of these four. - You left it as a .zip . A zip dropped in saves won't show up — extract it and move the folder. - It's double-nested. level.dat must be one level inside the folder you place. If it's two levels deep, move the inner folder up. - Wrong Minecraft version. Open the map on the version it was built for. Opening an old map on a much newer version can change or corrupt it; a newer map won't open on an older version. Check the map page for its version. - Required mods or datapacks. Some maps need specific mods or a resource pack — install those first (same version + loader). Datapacks usually ship pre-placed inside the world's datapacks folder; leave them there. ### Opening it in-game Once the folder is in the right saves and you launch the matching version, open Singleplayer — the map is in your world list like any save. Select it and press Play Selected World . #### Get MC Java Mods Find Java maps, mods, modpacks and resource packs — version and loader shown up front. Free on Android. Google Play ### Frequently asked questions I added the map but it doesn't show up in Singleplayer Usually one of: you left it as a .zip (extract it); the folder is double-nested (level.dat must be directly inside the folder in saves); it's in the wrong saves folder (wrong launcher/instance); or you launched a different Minecraft version. Fix whichever applies and relaunch. Do I need mods to play a map? Only if the map page says so. Plain vanilla maps — adventure, parkour, puzzle — usually need no mods, just the right Minecraft version. If a map lists required mods or a datapack, install those first. Where is the saves folder? Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\saves. Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves. CurseForge, Modrinth, Prism and MultiMC each have a separate per-instance saves folder — open it from that instance. Can I use a Bedrock map in Java Edition? No. Bedrock and Java use different world formats. A Bedrock world (.mcworld) won't load in Java, and a Java save won't load in Bedrock. Converters exist but are imperfect and unofficial — use a map made for the edition you play. Can I delete the .zip after installing? Yes. Once the extracted folder is in saves and the world loads, Minecraft only uses that folder — you can delete the original .zip. ### Related guides // java Install Java mods & modpacks // java Java mod not working / crash fix // bedrock Install Bedrock maps (.mcworld) // bedrock Install Bedrock addons & mods Ready to download? A mod is a .jar file that needs a mod loader — usually Forge , Fabric or NeoForge — and it runs on a PC (Windows, macOS or Linux), not on a phone. You need a PC. Java Edition mods can't be installed on the mobile version of Minecraft. If you're on a phone, you want Bedrock addons instead. ### Before you start - Minecraft: Java Edition installed on a PC. - The mod's loader — check whether the mod is for Forge , Fabric or NeoForge (most mods say so on their page). - A matching version — the loader, the mod, and your Minecraft version must all line up (e.g. all 1.21). Mismatched versions are the most common cause of crashes. ### Step by step #### Install the mod loader (Forge, Fabric or NeoForge) Download the installer for the loader the mod needs, matching your Minecraft version, and run it. It creates a new profile in the Minecraft launcher. For Fabric mods you usually also need the Fabric API mod — add it to the mods folder alongside the mod. #### Open the launcher once to create the profile Launch Minecraft and select the new Forge , Fabric or NeoForge profile, then quit. This makes sure the loader and the mods folder are set up. #### Find your mods folder Open the game directory. On Windows it's %appdata%\.minecraft\mods ; on macOS it's ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods . If the mods folder isn't there yet, create it. #### Drop the mod .jar into the folder Move the downloaded .jar file into the mods folder. Don't unzip it — it stays as a .jar . Add as many compatible mods as you like. #### Launch the matching profile and play Start Minecraft, pick the Forge / Fabric / NeoForge profile that matches your mods, and launch. Your mods load with the game. ### Installing a modpack the easy way A modpack is a curated bundle of mods, a loader and configs. The simplest route is a launcher that installs packs for you — such as the CurseForge app , the Modrinth app or Prism Launcher . It downloads the right loader and all the mods together, so you don't manage .jar files by hand. If you're starting out, a one-click modpack is far less error-prone than assembling mods individually. Don't mix loaders. A single profile runs one loader. A Forge mod won't load under Fabric, and a NeoForge mod won't load under either, so keep every mod in a pack on the same loader and Minecraft version. #### Browse on the go with MC Java Mods Find mods, modpacks, shaders & maps for Java Edition — discover what to grab, then install it on your PC. Google Play ### Frequently asked questions Can I install Java mods on my phone? No. Java Edition mods run on the desktop game. The mobile edition of Minecraft is Bedrock, which uses addons instead — see our Bedrock addon guide . Forge, Fabric or NeoForge — which do I need? Whichever the mod was built for. Each mod's page states its loader. A mod built for one loader won't load under another, so match the loader to the mod. (NeoForge is a newer loader, forked from Forge — treat it as its own loader, not interchangeable with Forge.) Minecraft crashes when I add a mod Almost always a version mismatch — the mod, the loader and your Minecraft version must all be the same (e.g. all 1.21). Fabric mods also typically need the Fabric API in the mods folder. Remove mods one at a time to find a conflicting one. Where is the mods folder? Inside the Minecraft game directory: %appdata%\.minecraft\mods on Windows, or ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods on macOS. Create the mods folder if it isn't there after first launching the modded (Forge / Fabric / NeoForge) profile. ### Related guides // java Java mod not working / crash fix // java Install Java maps & worlds // bedrock Install Bedrock addons & mods // skins Apply a custom Minecraft skin Ready to download? It is a .zip file, and unlike a mod it needs no Forge, no Fabric and no NeoForge . Vanilla Minecraft loads it on its own. This is the Java Edition way. On Bedrock a texture pack is a .mcpack and it imports by opening the file — see how to install Bedrock texture packs instead. Not sure which edition you have? Bedrock vs Java, the difference . ### Before you start - Minecraft: Java Edition on a PC. Resource packs do not work on the mobile version. - The pack as a .zip file. Do not unzip it — Minecraft reads the zip as it is. - Nothing else. No mod loader, no launcher plugin, no account changes. ### Step by step #### 1. Download the pack Save the .zip anywhere you like — the Downloads folder is fine. If your browser unpacked it automatically, see the note below. #### 2. Open the pack folder from inside the game Launch Minecraft, then Options → Resource Packs → Open Pack Folder . That button opens resourcepacks for you, so you never have to hunt for the .minecraft directory. #### 3. Drop the .zip in Move or copy the file into the folder that just opened. Leave it zipped. #### 4. Move it to Selected Back in the game the pack appears in the left column, Available . Hover it and click the arrow to push it into the right column, Selected . #### 5. Press Done The game reloads its textures and the pack is live. No restart needed. ### It downloaded but the game doesn’t show it Four causes cover nearly all of it, and the first one is by far the most common. - One folder too many inside the zip. Open the archive: you should see pack.mcmeta and the assets folder right there . If instead you see a single folder that contains them, Minecraft looks one level too high and finds nothing. Open that inner folder, select its contents, and zip those — not the folder around them. - The pack sits under “Incompatible”. That is a version warning, not a broken file: the pack declares it was made for a different Minecraft release. You can still load it — the game asks once and lets you through — but parts of it may look wrong or fall back to the default look. - It was unzipped on download. Safari and some Windows setups unpack archives automatically. A plain folder works too, but only if that folder directly contains pack.mcmeta . Otherwise re-zip it as above. - It is a shader pack, not a resource pack. Shaders go into a different folder, shaderpacks , and they need Iris or OptiFine installed first. Dropping a shader into resourcepacks does nothing at all. ### Frequently asked questions Do I need Forge or Fabric for a resource pack? No. That is the main difference from mods: resource packs are a feature of the plain game. If a page tells you to install a loader first, it is describing a mod, not a pack — see how to install Java mods . Where is the .minecraft folder? Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft . macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft . Linux: ~/.minecraft . You rarely need this — the Open Pack Folder button in step 2 takes you straight there. Can I run several packs at once? Yes, and the order decides who wins. In the Selected column the pack at the top overrides the ones below it, so put the pack you care about most on top. Will it work on a multiplayer server? Yes. A resource pack is client-side: it changes what you see, and other players are unaffected. Some servers send their own pack and ask you to accept it — that one takes over while you are connected. ### Related guides - How to install Minecraft Java mods & modpacks - A Java mod isn’t working — what to check - How to install Bedrock texture packs - Bedrock vs Java mods — the difference --- ## How to install a .mcaddon or .mcpack file on Android Source: https://mcmodshub.com/guides/install-mcaddon-android.html How to install a .mcaddon or .mcpack file on Android | MC Mods Hub Install · Bedrock · Android ## How to install a .mcaddon or .mcpack file on Android On Android there's no unzipping or file-moving to do by hand. You open the downloaded file, and the system hands it to Minecraft. Here's the exact flow, and what it means if Minecraft never shows up as an option. The whole trick: opening a .mcpack or .mcaddon file is what imports it. There's no separate "install" step, and no folder to place it in yourself — Android's own file-open flow does the work. ### What the two file types are .mcpack is a single pack (behavior or resource). .mcaddon bundles more than one pack — usually a behavior pack and its matching resource pack — into one file. Both import the same way. (Some files are shipped with the wrong extension by mistake — see our data on that if renaming a file didn't help.) ### Step by step #### Download the file From the MC Bedrock Mods app, or from a browser. It lands in your Downloads folder, and Android usually shows a download-complete notification. #### Open it Tap the notification, or open the Files (or My Files ) app, go to Downloads, and tap the .mcpack / .mcaddon file. #### Pick Minecraft, if asked Android may show an "Open with" list. Choose Minecraft — the app opens, imports the file, and shows a confirmation. If Minecraft is already the only/default handler for this file type, it opens straight away with no list shown. #### Activate it in your world Importing only makes the pack available — it does nothing on its own yet. Open your world → Edit → Behavior Packs → Available → tap the pack → Activate , then the same under Resource Packs . Full walkthrough: installing Bedrock add-ons . ### "Open with" doesn't list Minecraft, or nothing happens This almost always means one of two things, not a broken download: - Minecraft isn't installed on this device, or is installed but hasn't been opened once since a fresh install (some launchers need one first run to register file types). - The file downloaded as something else — a browser sometimes saves it as .zip or with no extension at all. Check the file name in your Files app; if it doesn't end in .mcpack / .mcaddon , rename it to match before opening it again. Android's file-open step isn't tied to any one specific app package — it's a standard "which app opens this file" chooser. If a Minecraft-compatible game other than the official app is installed, it may also appear in that list; we only verify the file itself, not how a specific game handles it. #### Get MC Bedrock Mods Download add-ons, maps and texture packs and open them straight into Minecraft. Free on Android. Google Play ### Frequently asked questions Do I need to unzip a .mcaddon file first? No. Opening it directly is what imports it — unzipping it yourself will not help and can leave you with loose files Minecraft won't recognize. Where do .mcpack/.mcaddon files get saved after import? Minecraft copies the pack into its own app storage on import. The original downloaded file can be deleted afterward without removing the imported pack. I opened the file but nothing shows up in my world Importing and activating are two different steps. See Addon not showing up or won't import for the full checklist. Can I install .mcaddon files this way on iOS, Windows or Xbox? This guide covers Android's file-open flow specifically. Other platforms hand off downloaded files differently, though the pack format and the in-game activation step are the same everywhere. ### Related guides // bedrock Install Bedrock addons & mods // fix Addon not showing up / won't import // fix "Unable to find manifest in pack" // explainer Bedrock vs Java mods Ready to download? Browse Bedrock addons → --- ## Minecraft Java mod not working — how to fix it Source: https://mcmodshub.com/guides/java-mod-not-working.html Minecraft Java mod not working — how to fix it | MC Mods Hub Troubleshooting · Java ## Minecraft Java mod not working or crashing Almost every "broken" mod is one of four things: the wrong loader, the wrong Minecraft version, a missing library, or a crash the log will name for you. Work down this list in order — the first two causes catch most cases. Check these three first: (1) the mod is for your loader (Forge, Fabric or NeoForge); (2) it's for your exact Minecraft version ; (3) you installed its required dependency (e.g. Fabric API). One of these is the problem about 90% of the time. ### 1. Wrong mod loader (Forge vs Fabric vs NeoForge) Java mods are built for a specific loader , and they are not interchangeable — a Fabric mod will never load on Forge, and vice-versa. The main loaders today: - Fabric — lightweight, fast updates; needs the Fabric API mod alongside it. - NeoForge — the fork that most large 1.20.2+ mods moved to; it's where modern Forge-style modding lives now. - Forge — the classic loader, still used by many packs on 1.20.1 and older. - Quilt — a Fabric-compatible loader; most Fabric mods run on it too. On the mod's CurseForge or Modrinth page, each file is tagged with its loader. Match it: install that loader, then launch the matching profile and drop the mod in that profile's mods folder. A Forge mod in a Fabric profile simply won't appear. ### 2. Minecraft version mismatch A mod built for one Minecraft version usually won't load on another — often not even between minor releases (a 1.21.1 mod may refuse to load on 1.21.4 ). On the download page, check the file's supported Minecraft version and pick the file that matches the profile you're launching. If you just updated Minecraft, your old mods are almost certainly the wrong version now (see step 8). By 2026 the active mod ecosystem still centers on 1.21.x — that's where almost every mod and pack is available, so it's the safest version to mod on. Always match the version the mod actually lists. ### 3. A required dependency is missing This is the single most common "fails to load" cause. Many mods need a library mod to run: - Fabric API — required by the vast majority of Fabric mods. - Architectury API , Cloth Config , Forge Config API Port — common shared libraries. The mod's page lists what it needs (look for a Dependencies / Relations section). Download each required dependency for your loader and Minecraft version and put it in the same mods folder. If the game says a mod "requires Fabric API", that's exactly this. ### 4. The mod is in the wrong folder Mods must go in the profile's mods folder, not just anywhere: - Vanilla launcher (Windows): %appdata%\.minecraft\mods — paste that into the Explorer address bar. Create the mods folder if it isn't there. - CurseForge App / Modrinth App / Prism / MultiMC: each instance has its own mods folder — open the instance and use "Open folder" / "Mods", not the vanilla path. Putting a mod in the vanilla folder while launching a CurseForge instance (or the reverse) is a classic "nothing happens" mistake. ### 5. The game crashes on launch → read the log A crash isn't a dead end — Minecraft tells you the culprit: - When it crashes, open the crash report it points to, or the latest log at %appdata%\.minecraft\logs\latest.log (per-instance launchers have their own logs folder). - Search for lines like "Caused by" , "Failed to load" , or a mod id in red — that usually names the mod and the reason (wrong version, missing dependency). - Can't tell which mod? Bisect: remove half the mods and launch. If it works, the problem is in the half you removed; if it still crashes, it's in the half left. Repeat until one mod is left. ### 6. Java version Modern Minecraft needs a modern Java (Java 17 for 1.18–1.20.4, Java 21 for 1.20.5 and 1.21+). The official launcher and CurseForge/Modrinth/Prism bundle and pick the right one automatically — so leave Java on default. Problems usually come from an old, manually-set JDK in a launcher's Java settings; remove the override and let the launcher manage it. ### 7. RAM allocation Most modpacks run well on 4–6 GB . Too little causes "out of memory" crashes; allocating too much (e.g. all your RAM) can actually make it stutter. Set it in the launcher's instance/Java settings, not by editing files. ### 8. Outdated mods after a Minecraft update When you update Minecraft, every mod has to be updated to the new version too — and all of them must be the same Minecraft version and loader. Update the whole set together, or keep a separate profile on the older version for your existing mods. ### 9. Two mods conflicting Occasionally two mods change the same thing and crash together even though each works alone. The bisect method in step 5 finds the pair; then check each mod's page for a known incompatibility, or keep only one. #### Get MC Java Mods Browse and download Java mods, modpacks and resource packs — with the loader and version shown up front so you grab the right file. Free on Android. Google Play ### Frequently asked questions Forge or Fabric — which one do I need? Whichever the mod is built for — the mod's download page tells you. Each mod's file is tagged Fabric, Forge or NeoForge, and they aren't interchangeable. Install that loader, launch its profile, and put the mod (plus any required library like Fabric API) in that profile's mods folder. Where is the mods folder? For the vanilla launcher on Windows it's %appdata%\.minecraft\mods (paste that into the Explorer address bar; create the folder if it's missing). The CurseForge App, Modrinth App, Prism and MultiMC each give every instance its own mods folder — open the instance and use its "Mods" / "Open folder" button instead. It says a mod "requires Fabric API" — what now? Fabric API is a required library for most Fabric mods. Download Fabric API for your exact Minecraft version and put it in the same mods folder as the mod. Many mods also need other libraries (Architectury, Cloth Config) — the mod's page lists them under Dependencies. How do I read a crash report? Open the crash report the game points to, or logs\latest.log in your Minecraft folder. Look for "Caused by" or "Failed to load" lines — they usually name the mod and the reason. If it's unclear, remove half your mods and launch; whichever half stops the crash contains the culprit. Repeat to narrow it to one mod. The mod still won't load and there's no crash Double-check all three basics: the mod matches your loader, it matches your exact Minecraft version, and its required dependencies are installed in the same folder. A mod that's silently absent is almost always the wrong loader or version for the profile you launched. Can I use a Bedrock addon in Java? No. Bedrock and Java use completely different formats — Bedrock addons are .mcpack/.mcaddon, Java mods are .jar. They don't cross over. If you're on Bedrock instead, see the Bedrock addon guide. ### Related guides // java Install Java mods & modpacks // java Install Java maps & worlds // bedrock Bedrock addon not showing up // bedrock Install Bedrock addons & mods Ready to download? At some point you want a world with other people in it, and the question becomes whether to rent one, run one, or just join somebody else's. Here is what each actually costs in 2026, and the part nobody writes down: how anyone finds your server once it exists. ### Before you pay anything: you might not need your own If what you want is people to play with tonight, a server of your own is the slow way to get there. Public servers are already full of strangers, cost nothing, and take about ten seconds to join. We keep a list of free servers that are up right now . Every address on it gets pinged every ten minutes, and anything that stops answering falls off the page on its own, so you're not copying a dead address. Try that first. Run your own when you want something the public ones can't give you: your rules, your mods, your friends only. ### What it costs Option Price What you get Realms / Realms Plus $7.99 a month Mojang runs it. Up to 10 players at a time, no setup, no port forwarding, no command line. You can't install arbitrary server plugins. Rented hosting from about $1–3, realistically $5–10 The bottom of the market is shared hardware with 1–2 GB of RAM. Fine for a handful of friends and no mods. A server that holds a crowd and runs plugins wants more. Your own PC free Costs nothing and teaches you the most. The catch is that it only exists while your PC is on, and letting strangers connect to your home network needs care. The number that matters on a rented plan is RAM, and it buys two different things: how many people can be online, and how much the server is doing for each of them. A vanilla survival world with ten friends is cheap. The same ten people with a heavy modpack is not the same server at all. ### Getting it running Bedrock (phones, console, Windows 10/11 edition): a host gives you an address and a port. In Minecraft, tap Play , open the Servers tab, scroll to Add Server , and put them in. That's the whole thing on the player's side. Java : you get an address, and players add it under Multiplayer → Add Server . Java is where the plugin ecosystem lives, so this is the side to pick if you want economy, minigames, land claims and the rest. Whichever you pick, decide the version before you invite anyone. A server on 1.21 and a player on 1.20 simply won't connect, and that mismatch is the single most common reason a new server looks broken on day one. ### Now the hard part: nobody knows you exist A new server is an empty room. People don't join empty rooms, which is the trap: you need players to attract players. Everything below is about getting past the first twenty. #### Get listed where people are already looking Server lists are how most people find somewhere to play. Being on several is normal and costs nothing. Ours is here — the Add a server button at the top of that page takes about a minute, and we check the address ourselves before it goes up. One thing worth knowing about lists: most rank by votes, and votes are gamed constantly. We don't rank by votes at all. We rank by how many people are on right now and how reliably the server answered our checks, both measured by us. That's harder to fake and it means a small honest server isn't buried under a big dishonest one. #### Give people a reason in one sentence "Survival SMP, no griefing, friendly staff" describes several thousand servers and attracts nobody. "Vanilla survival, map resets never, 200-player town we've been building since 2023" is a reason. Whatever is actually different about yours, lead with that — it's the only line most people will read. #### Discord, then clips A Discord server is where the people you already have stay attached between sessions, and it's the cheapest retention there is. Set it up early even when it's five people. Short clips do the rest. A twenty-second video of something surprising happening on your server travels much further than a description of it. You don't need production value; you need one moment worth watching. #### Communities, carefully Reddit and Minecraft forums have places built for this, and nearly all of them have strict rules about self-promotion. Read the sidebar and post where advertising is allowed. Dropping your IP into an unrelated thread gets you banned and buys you nothing. #### What doesn't work Buying votes or players. It moves you up a list for a week, the numbers don't convert into anyone actually playing, and both the list and the people who join notice. Also: don't promise features you haven't built. The fastest way to lose a new player is a server that doesn't match its own description. ### Keep it up, or it doesn't count Uptime is the boring thing that decides whether anyone comes back. Someone who copies your address, gets a connection error, and closes the game does not try again tomorrow. On our list a server that stops answering drops off automatically, which is unforgiving but honest — and it's exactly what a player experiences when yours goes down. That message points at the inside of the archive, not at your phone or your game version — which is good news, because three of the four causes take a minute to fix. What the error actually means: Minecraft opened your file, looked inside for manifest.json , and did not find it where it expects it. The file arrived — it is the contents that are wrong. ### 1. The archive has one folder too many This is the most common cause by far. A .mcpack must have manifest.json at the top level . If someone zipped the folder instead of its contents, the file looks like MyAddon/manifest.json — one level too deep, and Minecraft stops looking. Fix: rename the file to .zip , open it, and check what you see first. If it is a single folder, go inside, select everything, zip that , and rename back to .mcpack . If you see manifest.json straight away, the archive is fine and the problem is elsewhere on this page. ### 2. It is a .zip that was renamed, not a real pack Renaming something.zip to something.mcpack does not make it a pack. If the archive contains loose textures, a .jar , or a folder of .png files and no manifest.json anywhere, it is not a Bedrock add-on at all — most often it is a Java mod, which Bedrock cannot use. ### 3. The file is a world or a skin pack — then this is not an error .mcworld files and many skin packs have no manifest.json by design. If you see this message while opening a world, the file is likely truncated rather than malformed — see the next point. ### 4. The download stopped halfway A cut-off archive fails in exactly this way. Check the file size: a pack of a few kilobytes is almost certainly incomplete. Download it again on Wi-Fi, and do not open it from the browser's notification while it is still downloading. ### What we can tell you that the download page cannot We do not only list files, we open them. Measured on 5 September 2026: 46,733 archives in our catalogue have been unpacked and their manifests parsed. That is how a mod page here can say whether a file is complete before you spend the download. It also means we sometimes find that the file itself is broken at the source — in which case nothing you do on your phone will help, and the honest answer is to pick a different pack. If you would rather not do any of this by hand: our free app imports a pack in one tap and tells you up front when a file is incomplete. MC Bedrock Mods on Google Play . --- ## Does an add-on need the official Minecraft app? Source: https://mcmodshub.com/guides/works-without-original-minecraft.html Does an add-on need the official Minecraft app? | MC Mods Hub How it works · Bedrock ## Does an add-on need the official Minecraft app? Short answer: our download isn't locked to one specific app. Here's exactly what that means, what we actually check before calling a file "verified," and what we honestly don't know. What actually happens: on Android, opening a downloaded pack goes through the system's standard "Open with" chooser — not a hard-coded link to one app's package name. Whatever app on your phone claims to handle that file type can show up there. ### What we verify — and what we don't When a page here shows a "Verified by MCModsHub" panel, that's the result of us opening the archive ourselves: does it unzip, is there a valid manifest, what does the manifest ask for. That is a check of the file . We do not have a signal for whether the pack was actually loaded and run inside any particular game — official Minecraft or otherwise. No field in our catalog says "confirmed working in-game," because we don't have a way to measure that honestly. ### So will it work in a free Minecraft-like game? We can't promise it will, and we won't tell you it can't either — both would be guesses dressed up as facts. What we can say: - The file format ( .mcpack / .mcaddon ) isn't exclusive to the official game by design — it's a packaging format, and other apps can choose to support it. - Whether a specific alternative app actually reads that format, and how completely, is up to that app — we have no visibility into it and don't test against every Minecraft-like game that exists. - If the app you're using doesn't appear in the "Open with" list at all, that means it isn't registered to handle this file type on your device — not that our file is broken. See installing on Android for what a missing option usually means. If a pack imports fine but nothing changes in your game, that's almost always the separate, much more common issue of the pack not being activated yet — not a compatibility problem with the app you're using. Check Addon not showing up or won't import first. ### Why we're not more specific about which apps work There are many Minecraft-like Android games, they change independently of us, and a claim like "works in App X" would go stale the moment that app updates. Rather than publish a list we can't keep accurate, we say plainly what we check (the file) and what we don't (any particular game's behavior) — the same standard we hold every other fact on this site to. #### Get MC Bedrock Mods Every download is opened and checked by us before it's listed — file integrity, not gameplay. You need some app installed that's registered to open .mcpack / .mcaddon files, or the "Open with" step has nothing to hand the file to. The official app is the one we test against and support directly. What does "Verified by MCModsHub" actually check? The file itself — that the archive opens, the manifest is valid, and what the manifest declares (pack type, minimum Minecraft version, whether it needs Beta APIs). It does not check in-game behavior in any app. The download says it's installed but I don't see it in my game Importing and activating are separate steps in Minecraft's own UI. Walk through this checklist before assuming the file or the app is at fault. ### Related guides // android Install a .mcaddon/.mcpack on Android // fix Addon not showing up / won't import // fix "Unable to find manifest in pack" // explainer Bedrock vs Java mods Ready to download? Every one downloads straight in the MC Bedrock Mods app and links to its own page on this site. In short: the list follows the Popular order of our Bedrock addons page (the download counter of the source site, not ours) and only includes addons whose file we host, opened and found complete. Every entry shows the game versions listed on its page and the date we last checked its download link. Importing an addon does not switch it on: activate both the behavior and resource pack in your world, and turn on Beta APIs for scripted ones (at least three of the twenty need it). ### How we picked these 20 We started from the Bedrock addons page of our catalogue. Its default order, “Popular”, puts addons that have a working download and a picture first and then sorts them by the download counter of the site each addon comes from. For all twenty here that site is CurseForge. The counter is the source’s, not ours, so we do not print it, and it measures past downloads, not quality. On 6 October 2026 we went down that list item by item, and an addon made the cut only if it passed every check below. - Bedrock addons only. Every entry is a Bedrock Edition addon built for a current game version, 1.21.100 or newer. There are no Java .jar mods on this list and no packs for long-gone versions. - It downloads in the app. The file is kept on our side, so the download button gives you the file itself instead of sending you to another website. Some very popular addons are not here because they open on the author’s own page. - We opened the file. Each pack was unzipped and its manifest read, and the page says “complete pack”: everything it depends on is inside the file. - The download link worked at its last check, and every entry prints its own check date, from 18 June to 5 August 2026. The game versions are the ones the author or source site lists for the file. - A mix of types. We kept a spread of mobs, tools, furniture, interface and quality-of-life packs, and no more than three visual packs. For scale: on 5 October 2026 our Bedrock addons page showed 23,653 of 26,653 addons downloading straight in the app, and we had opened 21,804 of those files and found a complete pack inside. The twenty below come from that group. Where an addon needs extra setup (an experiment toggle, a second pack), we say so in its paragraph. Version numbers follow our cards: the game writes a 1. in front, we leave it off, so v1.26.30 in the main menu is 26.30 here. A card often lists three tags and says “among others”, so each entry repeats what its card shows; where an author publishes separate builds for different game versions, the entry names the newest build and the range of the others. A tag is what the author or source site declares for the file, not a promise that we tested it on your device. Sizes are the download size shown on each page, and each author name links to their page on CurseForge. ### The 20 at a glance Same twenty addons in one table: type, game versions, file size and the date of our last download-link check. Pokémon-style mobs appear in the wild, you can fight them with a built-in battle system, use mounts, and watch some of them evolve. It is the most involved mob addon on this list, so it suits players who want a long-term goal rather than a quick gimmick, and friends who like sharing one world. The card lists Minecraft 26.0, 26.10 and 26.11, and the download is 9.9 MB. The author splits the visuals into extra resource packs, so import everything in the file and switch every pack on in your world. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 2 Raiyon's Java Combat Combat Minecraft 1.21.114, 1.21.120, 1.21.122 159 KB Link checked 3 Jul 2026 by lordraiyon69 on CurseForge If Bedrock fights feel button-mashy compared with Java, this is the fix. It adds the Java attack cooldown with a small bar under the crosshair, so a swing only does full damage once the bar has refilled, and a full swing with a sword sweeps nearby mobs. Axes hit harder than swords but recover slower, shields stop shoving you back, and a raised shield now stops a charged mace hit. Damage values follow the Java rules, including Sharpness and Strength. It also works with tools from other addons. The download is tiny, 159 KB, and the card lists Minecraft 1.21.114, 1.21.120 and 1.21.122. If you run Actions & Stuff or a similar animation pack, put the cooldown pack below it in the list. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 3 More Body Actions + Pickup & Carry Quality of life Minecraft 26.50, 26.40, 26.30 856 KB Link checked 3 Jul 2026 by sirob on CurseForge Two small movement addons bundled into one file. Your character can sit down, lie flat, crawl and scale walls, and can squeeze through a gap that is only one block tall. The second half lets you grab a mob, another player or a block and carry it around, which is great for pranks and for moving a pet across a base. It works in multiplayer. This one uses scripting, so open the world settings and switch on the Beta APIs experiment before you play, and keep both the behavior pack and the resource pack active. The file is 856 KB, and the card lists Minecraft 26.50, 26.40 and 26.30. Import the files into Minecraft and activate both packs. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 4 System Dynamic Light Lighting Minecraft 1.21.132, 26.0.02, 26.0 240 KB Link checked 3 Jul 2026 by SystemTv on CurseForge Cave exploring gets easier when your torch actually lights the room. This addon makes held light sources glow around you as you walk: torches, lanterns worn on the head, glowstone, magma and more, in the main hand or the offhand. Dropped light items keep glowing on the ground, and a configuration book lets you tune how it behaves. The author states that no experimental toggles are needed and that it is built to sit alongside other addons and work in multiplayer and on Realms. It is a good first addon because it changes one thing and does it well. The file is 240 KB, and the card lists Minecraft 1.21.132, 26.0.02 and 26.0. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 5 Multiplayer Waypoint System Quality of life Minecraft 26.50, 26.40, 26.30 429 KB Link checked 3 Jul 2026 by sirob on CurseForge A shared teleport-and-bookmark system for worlds with friends. Each player can save a spot as a waypoint, make it public, and jump to it later, with a favourites list so the useful ones stay on top. The listing says a player can keep up to 999 waypoints, and there is no cap on how many people can be online. Teleports come with a short camera effect, and it is meant to run next to other addons. It relies on scripting, so turn on the Beta APIs experiment in the world settings and keep both packs active, and make sure a hosted server allows scripts. The download is 429 KB, and the card lists Minecraft 26.50, 26.40 and 26.30. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 6 VDX: Java/Desktop UI Interface pack Minecraft 26.30 (newest of 7 builds, back to 1.21.70) 4.5 MB Link checked 5 Aug 2026 by CrisXolt on CurseForge A resource pack that redraws Bedrock menus and inventory screens in the Java-style layout, so crafting and chests look like the desktop version. Because Bedrock keeps replacing old interface screens, the author publishes a separate build for each game version, from 1.21.70 up to 26.30 on our page. Pick the build that matches your game version. One warning from the author matters on phones: switch Minecraft's storage setting to External before you import, otherwise your save data can be at risk if a future update breaks the modified screens. The file is 4.5 MB. After importing, activate the pack under Global Resources. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 7 Modern Furniture Furniture & decor Minecraft 1.21.122, 1.21.123, 1.21.124 5.0 MB Link checked 30 Jun 2026 by trotamundos872 on CurseForge Builders who want a convincing apartment, office or city street will like this one. It adds well over 750 furniture and decor blocks, sorted into craftable category boxes, for example sofas, armchairs and construction pieces, so you pick a box first and then the exact piece. The style is clean and contemporary rather than medieval, which makes it a natural pair with a modern city map. It is about what you can put in a room rather than new survival rules. The file is 5.0 MB, and the card lists Minecraft 1.21.122, 1.21.123 and 1.21.124. Enable the pack in the world where you want to build. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 8 Farmer's Delight: Bedrock Farming & food Minecraft 26.0.02, 26.0, 26.3 3.2 MB Link checked 30 Jun 2026 by Pupy200mine on CurseForge This is an unofficial Bedrock take on the popular Java cooking-and-farming mod. The idea is to give crops, kitchen work and meals more depth than vanilla bread and steak, so a long survival world gets a food loop worth setting up. It is a fan port, so expect the spirit of the Java mod rather than a one-to-one copy, and look at the screenshots on the card before you commit. It suits players who enjoy a base with a farm and a kitchen as much as a mine. The pack is 3.2 MB, and the card lists Minecraft 26.0.02, 26.0 and 26.3. Activate both the behavior and the resource pack. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 9 More Tools Addon Items & tools Minecraft 1.21.100 to 26.30 (plus a 1.21.81 build) 2.0 MB Link checked 5 Aug 2026 by SorYPMod on CurseForge A big loot-table expansion in a vanilla art style. The author lists more than 800 extra tools and items and over 20 new blocks, drawn to look like they belong in the base game, and it is made to work in ordinary survival without experimental toggles. It is the pick for players who like collecting gear. One honest caveat from the author: a recent update moved items off an older feature and is still being finished, so some abilities, effects and durability are not all working yet, and the author recommends backing up your worlds before updating. The file is 2.0 MB. The newest build covers Minecraft 1.21.100 to 26.30, and a separate build exists for 1.21.81. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 10 Raiyon's Item Physics Realism Minecraft 1.21.130, 1.21.131, 1.21.132 112 KB Link checked 30 Jun 2026 by lordraiyon69 on CurseForge Dropped items stop hovering and spinning and instead lie on the ground like real objects. You pick one up by hitting it or holding the use button, and sneaking collects the ones around you. Items keep their normal rules, so netherite does not burn in lava, things float in water, and a renamed item shows its name above it. Despawn time stays at the vanilla five minutes, except for named items and Nether Stars. The author says it does not disable achievements. The download is only 112 KB, and the card lists Minecraft 1.21.130, 1.21.131 and 1.21.132, which makes it an easy addon to try next to others. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 11 True Backpack Storage Minecraft 26.10, 1.21.120, 1.21.122 387 KB Link checked 30 Jun 2026 by TrueCowboy on CurseForge Adds wearable backpacks with different amounts of storage, plus upgrades that change how they behave. The Soul Bond upgrade keeps the backpack with you if you die, and the latest version brings six Christmas-themed designs and nine wolf variants. It also works with achievements and custom skins, and the author says it is built to coexist with other addons. For long survival runs this is the quiet one that changes daily life, because carrying capacity stops being the bottleneck on a mining trip. The file is 387 KB, and the card lists Minecraft 26.10, 1.21.120 and 1.21.122. If you like it, the same author has a Multi Backpack variant. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 12 Raiyon's More Shields Combat Minecraft 26.0.02, 26.0, 26.3 869 KB Link checked 30 Jun 2026 by lordraiyon69 on CurseForge The vanilla shield has one look and one job. This pack adds sixteen new shields that are all functional, so you can carry a design you like instead of the same plain board, and each one blocks like the original. It is a cosmetic-leaning upgrade for survival, PvP servers and adventure maps where you want your loadout to say something. Browse the pictures on the card to see the designs before you download. The file is 869 KB, and the card lists Minecraft 26.0.02, 26.0 and 26.3. Switch the packs on in your world settings before you load in. Because it only adds shields, it is a low-risk first addon to try. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 13 Definitive Tree Capitator Quality of life Minecraft 1.21.132, 26.0.02, 26.0 2.6 MB Link checked 30 Jun 2026 by SystemTv on CurseForge Chop the bottom log and the whole tree comes down. It is a small change that saves a lot of clicking once you start a house or a farm that eats wood. The author says it does not use the player definition file that many addons rely on, which is the reason it tends to coexist with other packs without conflicts, and that matters if your list of addons is already long. It is best for builders and survival players who want less grind, and it does not add new items to learn. The file is 2.6 MB, and the card lists Minecraft 1.21.132, 26.0.02 and 26.0. Activate both packs in the world you play. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 14 Hammer Time Tools & weapons Minecraft 1.21.132, 26.0.02, 26.0 403 KB Link checked 30 Jun 2026 by SystemTv on CurseForge A Bedrock take on a Java mod with the same title, built around tools that work on an area. Hammers dig three-by-three, tunnel or vein mine, great swords knock enemies back and cleave groups, great axes fell trees fast, sickles clear leaves and harvest crops, and great shovels move dirt in bulk. It is aimed at survival players who are tired of repetitive digging. The author says it needs no experimental features, plays with other addons and on Realms, and lets each player set their own options. The file is 403 KB, and the card lists Minecraft 1.21.132, 26.0.02 and 26.0. Activate the packs in your world. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 15 GUN + Weapons Minecraft 26.50 (plus a 26.30 to 26.40 build) 709 KB Link checked 18 Jun 2026 by BedrockAddon on CurseForge A lightweight firearms pack that centres on military-style weapons, and the author says a few custom guns may follow later. It is a good fit for shooter-style survival, zombie maps and friendly PvP on a private world, and at 709 KB it is light on a phone. Our page shows two builds, one for 26.50 and one covering 26.30 to 26.40, so pick the one that matches the version in your game menu. Keep an eye on your active packs, since stacking several weapon addons in one world makes it harder to tell which one a problem comes from. Both builds are small and import like any other addon. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 16 Bedrock Reimagined Overhaul Minecraft 26.40 (plus a 26.20 to 26.30 build) 57.9 MB Link checked 3 Aug 2026 by 5FrameStudios on CurseForge The biggest download here, and the closest thing to a new game mode. It reworks progression around bosses, scattered structures, procedurally generated mineshafts, new hostile mobs, pets, a magic and mana system, and machines with pipes and quarries. A full resource pack adds reworked animations for mobs, new textures and support for Vibrant Visuals. Plan for a fresh world and some free storage, because it replaces a lot at once. The studio says a larger 1.1 update is coming to the in-game store first and will be free later. The file is 57.9 MB, and the newest build targets Minecraft 26.40, with a separate build for 26.20 to 26.30. The author warns that it needs strong hardware and stutters on most phones, so expect lag on a budget device. Switch on both packs. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 17 DoubleHands Quality of life Minecraft 26.0.02, 26.0, 26.3 10.1 MB Link checked 18 Jun 2026 by areedelahi on CurseForge Bedrock has no real offhand slot, and this addon builds one. You hold an item in the left hand and use it like on Java, so a torch can sit next to your pickaxe, or you can place blocks while a tool stays equipped. The author says it works on Realms, dedicated servers and single-player worlds, each with its own way to activate it, and it brings basic dynamic lighting for glowing items. Read the notes on the card for the settings it asks for, because it needs a few world options turned on. The file is 10.1 MB, and the card lists Minecraft 26.0.02, 26.0 and 26.3. Follow the activation steps for your world type. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 18 System Wyverns Mobs & creatures Minecraft 1.21.122, 1.21.121, 1.21.123 852 KB Link checked 30 Jun 2026 by SystemTv on CurseForge Wyverns arrive as hostile fliers in the overworld, each with three kinds of attack, and the baby ones can be tamed, so the pack gives you both a new danger and a long-term companion. It fits survival worlds that need a fresh threat, and players who like raising a pet. The author states that no experimental features are required. You need two files for it to work properly, the behavior pack and the resource pack, so make sure both are imported and active, or the creatures will show up without their models. The download is 852 KB, and the card lists Minecraft 1.21.122, 1.21.121 and 1.21.123. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 19 Java Aspects Visual parity Minecraft 1.21.132 (plus a 1.21.40 to 1.21.41 build) 9.1 MB Link checked 3 Aug 2026 by AgentMindStorm on CurseForge A parity pack that nudges Bedrock toward the look and feel of Java. It changes water colours, explosion particles, block sounds and mob animations, and gives you a choice between modern default textures and a classic programmer-art style. If you play both editions and keep noticing small differences, this is the one that smooths them out. It is a resource pack, so it only touches visuals and sound and is easy to turn off. The classic option needs an extra step with the game classic texture pack, which the author explains on the page. The file is 9.1 MB. The newest build targets Minecraft 1.21.132, and a separate build covers 1.21.40 to 1.21.41. Activate it under Global Resources or in a single world. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### 20 SecurityCraft (Bedrock port) Security & redstone Minecraft 26.3, 26.10, 26.11 11.8 MB Link checked 18 Jun 2026 by RedTNT_ on CurseForge An unofficial Bedrock version of a well-known Java security mod, made for shared servers and survival bases. Its main tool, the Universal Block Reinforcer, upgrades ordinary blocks into reinforced ones in three levels. Reinforced blocks shrug off explosions, and only their owner can break them, and the top level is meant to be effectively unbreakable at a steep crafting cost. Best for multiplayer groups that want to protect a base against griefers. It needs the Beta APIs experiment switched on, and both the behavior and resource packs must be active. The file is 11.8 MB, and the card lists Minecraft 26.3, 26.10 and 26.11. Enable the experiment before you create the world. Open in MC Bedrock Mods #### Get these addons in one tap Free on Google Play. Open an addon, tap Download, and let Minecraft import it for you. Get MC Bedrock Mods ### How to install any of them - Open the addon's page (or the same addon inside the app) and tap Download . - Open the downloaded .mcpack or .mcaddon file. Minecraft imports it and shows a short confirmation. - Create or edit a world, then under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs tap the pack and choose Activate . Switch on Beta APIs in Experiments if the addon uses scripts. The full walkthrough, with the exact menus, is in how to install Bedrock addons . If something imported but does not show up, start with addon not showing up . If the game says another addon is required, read your addon needs another addon . Not sure where a file came from? Read where to download Bedrock addons safely . ### Frequently asked questions #### Why isn't my addon showing up after import? Almost always the pack was imported but never activated. Open your world, tap Edit, go to Behavior Packs and then Resource Packs, and activate the pack under Available in both lists. If custom items or mobs still do nothing, the addon is scripted: turn on Beta APIs under Experiments. Also check that you imported both files when an addon ships a behavior pack and a resource pack. The addon not showing up guide walks through every cause in order, and this one covers addons that ask for a second pack. #### Which Minecraft version do these addons work on? Each entry shows the game versions listed on its page, from 1.21.100 up to 26.50. Where an author publishes a separate build per game version, the entry names the newest build and the range of the others. The tags come from the author or the source site, and we do not test every addon on every game version. Open Minecraft and look at the bottom-left corner of the main menu: v1.26.30 there is 26.30 in our lists. If a build does not match your game, update the game or pick the build for your version. The install guide has the rest. #### Are these addons free? Yes. Every addon on this list is a free download, with no account needed. Some authors also have a donation page, which is optional. #### What is the best Minecraft Bedrock addon in 2026? There is no single best one, so this list does not rank by quality: it follows the download counter of the source site. A better way to choose is by what you want to change. For a better cave, try System Dynamic Light. For Java-style fights, Raiyon’s Java Combat. For building a home, Modern Furniture. For a whole new survival loop, Bedrock Reimagined, if your phone can take a 57.9 MB pack. Each of them has its own paragraph above. #### Are these addons safe to download? Each file is a .mcpack or .mcaddon , which is data that Minecraft reads, not a program. We opened every file on this list and read its manifest. That check looks at the structure of the pack: it is not an antivirus scan and it does not run the addon in the game. Where to download Bedrock addons safely explains what to look for on any site. #### Do they work on iOS, Windows and console? They are made for Minecraft Bedrock Edition, and we only test the route on Android with our app. On Windows and iPhone you can download the file from the addon's page and open it in Minecraft in the same way. Consoles cannot import files from outside the in-game store, so these addons are not an option there. Java Edition does not use them at all: a .jar file is a Java mod. See our Bedrock install guide for the exact steps. ### Keep reading guide How to install Bedrock addons guide Addon not showing up guide Download Bedrock addons safely blog Texture packs & shaders explained blog Best Java mods & modpacks blog Back to all articles Want more than twenty? But before you install anything, one decision shapes everything: Forge or Fabric . This guide explains the loaders, the categories worth your time, where modpacks fit, and the easy way to find mods. ### First, the loader: Forge vs Fabric Java mods don't run on their own — they need a mod loader , a small program that lets Minecraft load community code. The two that matter are Forge and Fabric . A mod is built for one or the other; you can't mix them in the same profile, so the loader you pick determines which mods you can run. #### Forge The veteran. Forge has the largest back catalog and is the home of big, content-heavy mods and long-running modpacks — tech, magic, exploration, and full overhaul packs. If you want a sprawling, kitchen-sink experience, Forge usually has it. The trade-off is that it tends to be heavier and updates to new Minecraft versions more slowly. #### Fabric The lightweight, fast-moving option. Fabric is lean, updates to new Minecraft versions quickly, and is the natural home for performance and quality-of-life mods. It pairs with a small companion library (Fabric API) that many mods depend on. If your goal is a smoother vanilla-plus experience, Fabric is the easy pick. Rule of thumb: want raw performance and a clean, modern setup → Fabric . Want huge content mods and established overhaul packs → Forge . There's also NeoForge, a community fork of Forge that many newer mods target — treat it as the modern Forge branch. ### The must-have categories Instead of a brittle top-10 that ages badly, here are the categories nearly every modded setup draws from. Pick a loader, then fill these buckets. #### Performance & optimization The first thing most players install. Performance mods rework Minecraft's rendering and chunk handling to boost frame rate, often dramatically on modest hardware. On Fabric, Sodium is the well-known rendering optimizer, usually paired with companions for menus and lighting. On Forge there are equivalent optimization mods. Even if you install nothing else, these make the game feel better. #### Quality-of-life (QoL) Small mods that fix vanilla annoyances: minimaps, ingredient-aware recipe lookups, better inventory sorting, zoom, and clearer tooltips. Individually minor, collectively transformative — most players keep a handful permanently. #### Tech & automation The deep end. These add machines, power systems, pipes, and large-scale automation that turn survival into an engineering sandbox. Tech mods are the backbone of the biggest Forge modpacks. #### Exploration & content New biomes, structures, dimensions, dungeons, mobs and bosses that give you reasons to keep adventuring once vanilla feels small. This is where modded Minecraft turns into a genuinely different game. ### Where modpacks fit in A modpack is a curated bundle of mods that are already configured to work together, often with a matching loader version and tuned settings. Packs save you from the hardest part of modding — resolving conflicts and matching versions by hand. If you're new, starting from a well-known pack is far easier than assembling dozens of mods yourself, and you can still add a QoL mod or two on top. Version-match everything. The most common reason Java mods crash is a mismatch — mod built for 1.21 dropped into a 1.20 profile, or a Fabric mod in a Forge install. Keep the Minecraft version, the loader, and every mod aligned. ### Where to find them — the easy way Java mods ship as .jar files and go into your mods folder on a PC running the matching loader — the full setup is in our install Java mods & modpacks guide. The tedious part is discovery: matching loaders, checking versions, and hunting across sites. The MC Java Mods app makes the browsing part painless. It aggregates mods, modpacks, shaders and maps from established community libraries with search, categories and version info, so you can find what you want — by loader and category — without bouncing between forums. Line up your downloads on your phone, then drop them into your loader profile. #### Browse Java mods, modpacks & shaders Free on Google Play. A big chunk of the people I hear from are on older or budget Android phones, and the number one complaint is lag — stutter, low frame rate, the world hitching as it loads. The good news: Bedrock is genuinely light, and most of the lag on a modest phone comes from settings and heavy add-ons, not the phone itself. Here's how I'd tune it, and which content actually stays smooth. ### Start with settings — they matter more than any pack Before you install a single thing, fix your video settings. On a low-end phone this is where 80% of your frame rate comes from. Open Settings → Video and work through these, roughly in order of impact: - Render distance is the big one. This controls how many chunks load around you, and it's the single heaviest setting on a weak device. Drop it to 6–8 chunks . Going from 12 to 8 can transform a stuttery phone into a smooth one — you lose some far-off scenery, but you gain a playable game. - Turn off fancy graphics. Use the simpler "Fast"/lower graphics option. It disables costly transparency and lighting effects you barely notice in motion. - Smooth Lighting off. Nice-looking but not free. On a struggling phone, switching it off buys real frames. - Fancy Leaves / graphics extras off. Solid leaves render far cheaper than see-through ones. - Beautiful Skies / fancy clouds off. Small individually, but they add up. - Cap or match your frame rate. If your phone can't hold 60, a hard chase for it just causes uneven stutter. A steady 30 feels better than a jumpy 45. If you only change one thing, change render distance. Every extra chunk multiplies how much the phone has to draw and keep in memory. Lowering it is the closest thing Bedrock has to a magic "make it smooth" button. A couple of things that live outside the game but help just as much: close background apps before playing, keep the phone from overheating (heat forces the chip to slow itself down), and don't run the game on battery-saver mode, which often caps performance to save power. ### Lightweight texture packs: go lower, not higher This is the counter-intuitive part. On a powerful phone people install HD texture packs to make the game prettier. On a low-end phone you want to go the other direction — a lightweight or low-resolution resource pack. Here's why it works: - Default Minecraft textures are 16×16 pixels. HD packs push that to 32×, 64×, even higher — which means far more image data for the phone to load and hold in memory, and a real FPS cost on weak hardware. - A low-resolution / 8× "faithful-lite" style pack keeps the same recognizable look with even less to draw. Some packs are built specifically to be lighter than vanilla. - Because a texture pack is a pure resource pack — visuals only, no behavior — it never touches game logic, so it's the safest kind of content to experiment with and instantly reversible if it doesn't help. So the move on a budget phone is: skip HD packs entirely, and if you want a fresh look, pick one that advertises itself as lightweight or performance-friendly. You'll find these in the texture-pack section of the Bedrock catalog . If you're fuzzy on how packs differ from shaders, texture packs & shaders explained clears it up — which brings me to the thing to avoid. ### The big one to avoid: shaders I'll be blunt, because this is the most common way people wreck their frame rate on purpose. Shaders are the heaviest thing you can add to Bedrock, and a low-end phone should not run them. Shaders (often sold as "RTX-style," "realistic," or "ray-traced" packs) rewrite how the game handles light, shadows, water and reflections. That looks stunning on a gaming PC or high-end phone — and it will bring a budget device to a crawl. Shaders ≠ texture packs. A texture pack just swaps images and is cheap. A shader recomputes lighting every frame and is enormously expensive. If your phone struggles at default settings, a shader is the last thing to install — it's the opposite of what you want. If you crave better visuals on a modest phone, the safe substitute is a tasteful low-res texture pack plus a clean UI pack — you get a fresh look without the frame-rate hit that shaders bring. ### Addons that add fun without tanking FPS You don't have to give up interesting content to stay smooth — you just have to pick the right kind . The performance cost of an addon is mostly about how much it adds to the world at once and how complex its behavior is. Lighter categories: #### Furniture & decoration Chairs, lamps, tables, kitchens. These are among the friendliest additions for a weak phone: they're static objects you place deliberately, so they don't spawn everywhere or run heavy AI. Great value for almost no cost. #### Simple utility & quality-of-life Backpacks, better storage, a handful of tools or gadgets. Small, targeted addons that change a few items don't stress the engine the way a world-overhaul does. #### Small mob or item packs A pack that adds a few new creatures or items is fine. The trick is restraint — one focused mob addon is smooth; five of them all spawning constantly is not. #### UI & interface packs Cleaner inventories, clearer HUDs, PvP-style menus. These are pure resource packs with essentially zero performance cost, and they can make the game feel nicer without touching FPS at all. New to installing addons at all? The flow is download → open → activate the packs in your world. I walk through every step, including the one people miss, in how to install Bedrock addons . ### What to avoid on a weak phone Just as useful as knowing what to install is knowing what will grind your phone to a halt: - Shaders — covered above, but it bears repeating. Number one FPS killer. - HD (32×+) texture packs — more image data than a budget phone wants to hold. - Huge world-overhaul addons — packs that add hundreds of new mobs, blocks and structures all at once mean a lot more for the phone to simulate and render every frame. - Stacking too many addons in one world — even light addons add up. Three focused ones will run better than a dozen piled together. - Heavy script/experimental addons — the fancy scripted packs can be great, but they run extra logic each tick; they're the first to remove if a world starts chugging. ### An honest word on tradeoffs I'm not going to pretend settings fix everything. On an older phone you are making real tradeoffs: a lower render distance means you see less of the world at once, and skipping shaders and HD packs means the game looks closer to vanilla. That's the deal — you're trading a bit of visual flourish for a game that's actually playable and doesn't stutter every time you turn around. In my experience that trade is worth it every time. A smooth, plain-looking Minecraft beats a gorgeous slideshow. And there's a real ceiling: if your phone is very old or very short on RAM, no amount of tuning turns it into a flagship. Settings and light content will get you a genuinely playable game — just keep expectations sane about big builds and packed worlds. ### The easy path: a "Runs on Any Phone" Setup If you'd rather not test packs one by one to find what stays smooth, I've done that work for you. I answer support messages every day, and the number one message I get is "it installed but nothing happened." Nine times out of ten the addon imported fine; it just was never turned on inside the world. Here's the whole thing, start to finish, with the exact spots people miss. ### First, know what you're installing Bedrock Edition — the version on Android, iOS, Windows 10/11, and consoles — doesn't use "mods" the way Java does. It uses an official add-on system built from two pieces: - A behavior pack changes what things do — how a mob acts, what an item crafts into, the rules of the world. - A resource pack changes what things look and sound like — textures, models, audio. Most addons bundle both, so a new creature both shows up correctly and behaves correctly. That two-part design is exactly why installation has a step people miss: importing the file adds the packs to your library, but you still have to switch each pack on in the world. Hold that thought — it's the whole article. You'll run into three file types. Knowing them saves you from the most common failure: - .mcpack — a single pack (one behavior or one resource pack). - .mcaddon — a bundle of packs, usually a behavior + resource pack together, sometimes several. - .mcworld — a ready-made world with packs already applied. This one lands in your worlds list, not your pack library. Minecraft picks the import method purely by the file extension. A .mcpack is expected to hold a manifest at its root; a .mcaddon is expected to hold packs in sub-folders. If a file is named with the wrong one, the game either shows "unknown" on import or refuses it entirely. More on fixing that below. ### The install, step by step (Android) This is the flow for a normal .mcpack or .mcaddon . It's the same whether you grabbed the file from my app or anywhere else. #### 1. Download the addon file Tap download and let the file finish. On Android it usually lands in your Downloads folder. If your browser warns about the file type, that's normal for .mcpack / .mcaddon — allow it. If you use my Bedrock catalog or the app, the download is already the correct file with the correct extension, which removes the single biggest cause of import failures before it happens. #### 2. Open the file so Minecraft imports it Tap the downloaded file. Android hands it to Minecraft (it's registered to open these types), Minecraft launches, and you'll see a short "Importing…" message. When it's done you're dropped back into the game. If tapping the file opens a file manager or a "no app can open this" message instead, open it manually: in most file managers, long-press the file → Open with → Minecraft . In my app, hitting Open after download triggers the import directly, so you can skip the file manager entirely. Importing was successful if the pack now shows in your library. Check under Settings → Storage , or you'll see it in the next step when you go to add it to a world. Import does not mean the addon is active yet. #### 3. Activate the packs in your world — the step everyone misses This is where it clicks (or doesn't). Importing only put the packs in your library. Now you attach them to the world you want to play: - From the main menu, tap Play . - Tap the pencil / edit icon next to an existing world (or start Create New World ). - In the left menu, scroll to Behavior Packs . Tap it, find your addon, tap it, and press Activate . - Then open Resource Packs and do the same — tap the pack, press Activate . - Press Play (or Create ) to load the world. That's the whole trick. A full addon has two packs, and you have to switch on both — the behavior pack for the logic and the resource pack for the visuals. Activate only the resource pack and your new mob looks right but does nothing. Activate only the behavior pack and it works but shows up as a missing-texture cube. If Minecraft prompts you to apply the resource pack when you enable the behavior pack, say yes — that's it linking the pair for you. Packs apply per world, not globally. Turning an addon on in one world doesn't turn it on in the others. If you make a fresh world tomorrow and the addon "disappears," it's still in your library — you just haven't activated it in that new world yet. ### Script addons: turn on Experiments / Beta APIs A growing number of addons use Minecraft's scripting system for smarter behavior — custom UIs, new mechanics, things vanilla behavior packs can't do alone. Those need one extra toggle, and skipping it is the second-most-common reason an addon "does nothing." - When you edit or create the world, open the Experiments section (under the world settings, near the bottom of the left menu). - Enable the toggles the addon asks for. The pack's description usually names them — commonly the scripting/ Beta APIs option, and sometimes others like Holiday Creator Features or custom biomes. - Load the world. Minecraft warns that experimental worlds may not be upgradable later — that's expected for script content. If the addon page says nothing about experiments, you probably don't need them. Turn them on only when a pack requires it, because experimental worlds carry that upgrade caveat. ### "It installed but does nothing" — how to fix it By far the most frequent problem, and it's almost never a broken file. Walk this in order: - Is the behavior pack actually activated? Re-open the world's edit screen → Behavior Packs. If it's sitting under "available" instead of "active," that's your answer. Tap it → Activate. - Is the resource pack activated too? Same screen, Resource Packs tab. Both halves must be on for a full addon. - Did you enable the right Experiments? Script addons quietly do nothing without their toggle. Re-check the description for what it needs. - Is your Minecraft version new enough? This is the sneaky one. An addon built for a newer release can fail silently on an older app. If a pack requires a higher minimum engine version than your game, it may import but never run. Update Minecraft from the Play Store and try again. - Did you actually make a new world after activating? Some content (structures, mobs that spawn naturally) only appears in newly generated chunks. Explore fresh terrain or start a new world to see it. Version mismatch is invisible. Minecraft rarely throws a clear "this addon is too new" error — it just imports and then the content never shows. If everything is activated and it still does nothing, update the game first before assuming the file is bad. ### "It won't import at all" — the wrong-extension trap If tapping the file gives you "unknown pack," an "invalid" error, or nothing happens, the usual culprit is the file extension not matching the file's structure: - A single pack renamed to .mcaddon when it should be .mcpack (its manifest is at the root, so the game expected a single pack). - A multi-pack bundle renamed to .mcpack when it should be .mcaddon (the packs live in sub-folders, so a single-pack import chokes). - A file that's really a plain .zip — Minecraft won't open it until it's renamed to the correct pack extension. Reuploaded and repacked files are where this goes wrong most, because someone zipped it up by hand and guessed the extension. Renaming can fix it if you know which type it truly is — but honestly, the cleaner fix is to grab the file from a source that names it correctly in the first place. That mismatch is exactly the kind of thing I fix on the catalog side so the download you get already imports cleanly. ### Full troubleshooting checklist When an addon fights you, run down this list — it catches the vast majority of cases: - File finished downloading (not a partial/interrupted download). - Extension matches the content: .mcpack single, .mcaddon bundle, .mcworld world. - Opened with Minecraft , and you saw the import confirmation. - Behavior pack activated in the target world. - Resource pack activated in the same world. - Required Experiments / Beta APIs toggled on (script addons only). - Minecraft updated to a version the addon supports. - It's a Bedrock file — not a Java .jar , which will never import here. Still stuck after all that? My step-by-step install Bedrock addons guide has the same flow with screenshots of the exact menus, and the addon not showing up fix digs into the trickier "it's active but invisible" cases. For maps specifically, see installing Bedrock maps . ### The one-tap way to skip the file wrangling Most import headaches come from bad downloads — partial files, wrong extensions, hand-repacked zips from random reupload sites. That's the part I built the MC Bedrock Mods app to remove. It pulls addons, maps, skins and texture packs from established community libraries, hands you the correct file with the correct extension, and lets you open it straight into Minecraft. You still activate the packs in your world — no app can do that step for you, because it lives inside Minecraft — but everything up to that point becomes a single tap. #### Get clean, correctly-packed addons in one tap Free on Google Play. Here is which ones, and why nobody tells you. 2 August 2026 · 7 min read · Bedrock There is a switch buried three menus deep in Minecraft Bedrock that decides whether a whole class of add-ons works or sits there doing nothing. It is off by default. Almost no download page mentions it. We opened 32,897 Bedrock packs to see which ones need it, and the answer is 1,560 — about one in twenty-one. Those 1,560 draw three and a half times more "it's broken" reports than every other pack in the catalogue, and in most cases nothing is broken at all. ### What the switch actually is Minecraft Bedrock ships some of its scripting and gameplay capability as opt-in. In your world settings it appears under Experiments , with names like Beta APIs , Holiday Creator Features or Molang Features . An add-on that uses those capabilities declares it in its manifest — the small file Minecraft reads when it decides what a pack is allowed to do. If the pack asks for a capability your world has not enabled, Minecraft does not warn you. It does not refuse the import, it does not grey the pack out, and it does not put a message anywhere you will see it. The pack imports, appears in your list, activates — and then its content simply is not there. That silence is the whole problem. From the player's side an add-on that needs Experiments and an add-on that is genuinely broken look exactly the same. ### How many packs are affected Because we download and unpack every Bedrock file we can reach, we read those manifests ourselves rather than trusting a description. Of the packs opened so far: Experiments requirement across 32,897 opened Bedrock packs, measured 2 August 2026. Manifest asks for Packs Share Nothing experimental — works as shipped 31,337 95.3% Experimental capability — needs the toggle 1,560 4.7% One in twenty-one sounds small until you notice which packs they are. Experiments are what a pack needs to add real behaviour — custom mobs that do something, scripted events, new mechanics. The packs that need the toggle are disproportionately the ambitious ones, which is exactly why people are disappointed when they appear to do nothing. ### What it costs, in complaints This is the part we could only answer because both halves of the data sit on our side: what is inside the pack, and how often people who opened that pack told us it was broken. Over the week of 27 July to 2 August, packs that need Experiments were opened 216,530 times and drew 465 reports. Everything else was opened 2,030,974 times and drew 1,258. Per thousand opens: Reports per 1,000 pack opens, 27 July - 2 August 2026. Pack type Opens Reports Per 1,000 Needs Experiments 216,530 465 2.15 Everything else 2,030,974 1,258 0.62 3.5 times the complaint rate — and we normalised by opens rather than counting per pack, precisely so that "these are just the popular ones" cannot explain it away. A gap that size, on a difference that is one checkbox, is not a content quality problem. It is an instruction problem. The honest caveat: a report means somebody told us a mod did not work. We cannot prove every one of those 465 was caused by a missing toggle. What we can say is that the only systematic difference between the two groups is the manifest requirement, and the gap does not shrink when you account for how often each group is opened. ### How to turn it on The toggle lives per world, not per device. This trips up more people than the setting itself. - From the Minecraft main menu choose Play , then find your world and tap the pencil next to it to edit its settings. For a brand new world, the same section appears while you are creating it. - Scroll the left-hand list to Experiments . - Switch on Beta APIs . If the add-on's page mentions Holiday Creator Features or Molang Features, switch those on too. - Confirm the warning, then activate the add-on's packs in Resource Packs and Behaviour Packs as usual, and load the world. Two things worth knowing before you do it. Enabling Experiments disables achievements in that world permanently — it cannot be undone for that world, so use a copy if the achievements matter to you. And because the setting is per world, turning it on in one world does nothing for the others; an add-on that worked yesterday and does nothing today usually means you are in a different world, not that the pack broke. ### The ones the toggle will not save A smaller group is genuinely beyond rescue: 134 packs in our catalogue ask for experimental modules so old that current Minecraft no longer offers them. The author built against a beta that has since been folded into the game under a different name, or removed outright. No amount of switching things on brings those back — the pack needs its author to update it. We flag those separately rather than pretending the toggle will help, and we hide the worst of them from listings entirely, because sending somebody off to enable Experiments for a pack that cannot work either way is a worse outcome than not showing the pack at all. ### Spotting it before you download On our mod pages the "Verified by MCModsHub" panel is built from the file we actually opened, not from the description the uploader wrote. When a manifest asks for experimental capability, the panel says so, and our app shows the same chip on the mod card before you commit to a download. It is the same principle as everything else we publish: the uploader tells you what the pack is supposed to do, and we tell you what is inside the file. When those two disagree, the file wins. ### If it still does nothing Experiments is the first thing to check, not the only thing. Working through it in order: - Both packs activated? Most add-ons ship a behaviour pack and a resource pack. One without the other gives you invisible mobs or decorations that do nothing. - Experiments on, in this world? Per world, every time. - Is your Minecraft new enough? Packs declare a minimum version, and an older game silently ignores what it cannot read. We cover that in why a mod says it was built for another Minecraft version . - Did you get the whole pack? Around 7.6% of the add-ons we opened depend on a pack they do not include - the single most confusing failure in Bedrock, and the subject of what actually installs . Step-by-step versions of all of it live in our guides , including installing Bedrock add-ons and what to do when an add-on does not show up . All figures in this article were measured against our own catalogue on 2 August 2026 and will drift as the catalogue grows and more files get checked. --- ## Voice chat in Minecraft Bedrock: what exists Source: https://mcmodshub.com/blog/minecraft-bedrock-voice-chat.html Voice chat in Minecraft Bedrock: what exists | MC Mods Hub Catalogue data · Bedrock ## Voice chat in Bedrock: the most-wanted thing that mostly cannot exist Bedrock players ask for voice chat 33 times more often than Java players do, and have 20 times less to choose from. And the 16 is generous: reading through them, several are not voice chat at all — sound packs with names like Voices Of Insanity , a Voice stealer add-on, replacement voice lines. The genuine attempts number about five. Meanwhile the single most-downloaded item in the whole voice category, Simple Voice Chat with 61.3 million downloads , is a Java mod. A large share of the Bedrock searches above are people typing its name into a Bedrock catalogue. ### Why an add-on cannot do it Bedrock add-ons are not programs. They are data the game reads — blocks, entities, recipes — plus a deliberately narrow scripting interface. That interface has no access to your microphone, no ability to open a network connection to another player, and no way to play arbitrary audio it receives from elsewhere. All three are required to build voice chat, and none of them is available. Java is a different situation entirely: mods there run as real code inside the game with full access to the machine, which is exactly why Simple Voice Chat can exist there and cannot be ported. This is the same structural divide behind almost every "why does Java have X and Bedrock doesn't" question — see Bedrock vs Java mods for the general shape of it. If a Bedrock listing promises real microphone voice chat from an add-on file alone, it cannot deliver it. That is not scepticism about the author — the capability is not exposed to add-ons at all. ### What the Bedrock packs actually give you The genuine ones are doing something real, just not what the title suggests to most readers: - Proximity text chat. Messages only reach players within a set distance, so shouting across the map stops working. This is entirely achievable with scripts and is what several of the popular packs deliver — the top one has over 600,000 downloads. - Chat presentation. Names above heads, distance-based formatting, whisper ranges. Cosmetic, and stable, because it is all text. - Companion setups. A pack that pairs with something outside the game — you still talk through another app, the pack only handles what happens in-world. None of these carry audio. If proximity text chat is what you wanted, the category delivers and it works well. If you wanted to hear people, keep reading. ### What actually works for talking All of these live outside the add-on system, which is precisely why they work: - The platform's own party chat. On console and Windows, Xbox party chat carries voice for everyone in the party regardless of what world you are in. It is not proximity-based — you hear everyone at any distance — but it needs nothing installed. - Realms. Voice comes from the platform layer the same way; the world itself is not doing it. - A separate voice app. Discord and similar, running alongside the game. This is what most Bedrock groups actually use, and it is the only option that works identically across phones, consoles and PC. - Servers with their own client. Some large Bedrock servers ship a companion app or a web overlay that handles voice outside the game. Availability depends entirely on the server. The trade-off in all four is the same: you get audio, you do not get proximity. Distance-based voice — quieter as you walk away — is the specific thing that requires code inside the game, and that is the door Bedrock keeps shut. ### Why this is worth knowing before you download 9.4% of these searches in Bedrock end with nothing found. The other 90% end with something found that is often not what was wanted — a sound pack, a text-chat add-on, or a listing whose screenshots came from the Java mod of the same name. That mismatch is one of the quieter reasons people conclude a pack is "broken" when it installed perfectly and did exactly what it was built to do. If a download does turn out to be the wrong thing entirely, the import checklist in addon not showing up will not help — there is nothing to fix. Knowing the platform boundary in advance saves the evening. ### The short version Voice chat is the most searched Bedrock feature we cannot supply: 14,192 searches in 30 days against 16 packs, only about five of which are genuine attempts. Add-ons have no microphone access, so no file you install will carry audio. What does exist and works well is proximity text chat. For actual voice, use party chat, Realms or a separate app — and accept that distance-based voice is the one thing Bedrock does not allow anyone to build. --- ## Bedrock vs Java mods: the real differences Source: https://mcmodshub.com/blog/minecraft-bedrock-vs-java-mods.html Bedrock vs Java mods: the real differences | MC Mods Hub Bedrock & Java ## Bedrock vs Java mods: the real differences Updated 2026 · 10 min read · Bedrock & Java The most common mistake I see isn't a botched install — it's downloading the wrong kind of mod entirely. Someone on a phone grabs a Java mod, it never opens, and they assume they did something wrong. They didn't. The two versions of Minecraft handle custom content in completely different, non-interchangeable ways. Once you understand that split, everything else gets simple. Here's the real story. ### There are two Minecrafts This is the root of all the confusion. "Minecraft" is actually two separate games built on different codebases: - Java Edition — the original, written in Java. It runs only on PC (Windows, macOS, Linux). This is the one with decades of modding history. - Bedrock Edition — a rewrite in C++ that runs on Android, iOS, Windows 10/11, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and Fire tablets. It's the same "Minecraft" brand, but a different engine. They look nearly identical, they share most features, and Microsoft sells them together on PC. But under the hood they're different programs — and custom content built for one physically cannot load in the other. That's not a rule someone chose to be annoying; it's the same reason a Windows program won't run on a phone. Different engine, different file formats. The one thing to remember: Java content and Bedrock content are never interchangeable. A Java mod won't run on Bedrock; a Bedrock addon won't run on Java. Before you download anything, know which edition you're playing. ### Java "mods" vs Bedrock "addons" The two editions don't just use different files — they use fundamentally different approaches to changing the game. #### Java: real code mods A Java mod is actual program code that hooks into the game and can change almost anything — new dimensions, rewritten rendering, deep automation systems, entirely new mechanics. Because it's code, a Java mod can't just be dropped in; it needs a mod loader (more on that below) to run. Mods ship as .jar files. The upside is near-limitless power. The downside is that it only works on a PC, and you have to match versions carefully. #### Bedrock: official add-ons Bedrock doesn't let arbitrary code run — for a game that has to be safe on kids' phones and locked-down consoles, that's by design. Instead it has an official add-on system built from two data-driven pieces: - A behavior pack defines what things do — mob AI, crafting recipes, entity stats — through structured files rather than raw code. - A resource pack defines how things look and sound — textures, models, audio. Newer addons can also use a scripting layer for smarter behavior, but even that runs inside Minecraft's sandbox. Add-ons ship as .mcpack (a single pack), .mcaddon (a bundle), or .mcworld (a ready-made world). The trade-off versus Java: addons can't reach quite as deep, but they're safe, they install with a tap, and they work identically on a phone, a console, and a PC. People say "mods" for both, and that's fine in casual talk. But when you're downloading, the label matters: if a file is a .jar it's Java; if it's a .mcpack / .mcaddon / .mcworld it's Bedrock. The extension tells you instantly. ### Loaders vs packs: how each one actually runs This is where the two workflows diverge the most. #### Java needs Forge or Fabric A Java mod can't run on vanilla Minecraft — it needs a mod loader installed first. The two that matter are Forge (the veteran, home of big content mods and long-running modpacks) and Fabric (lightweight, fast to update, the natural home of performance mods). There's also NeoForge, a modern community fork of Forge. A mod is built for one loader; you can't mix Forge and Fabric mods in the same profile. You install the loader on your PC, drop .jar files into a mods folder, and launch the matching profile. I break the whole thing down in best Java mods & modpacks , and the setup itself is in the install Java mods guide . #### Bedrock just imports Bedrock has no loader and no mods folder. You open an .mcaddon file, Minecraft imports the packs into your library, and then you activate the behavior and resource packs inside the world you want to play. That's it — no PC, no file management, no version juggling of a loader. The one step people miss is that activation: importing isn't the same as turning it on. I walk through it in how to install Bedrock addons and the Bedrock addon install guide . ### What's a modpack? And does Bedrock have them? A modpack is a Java concept: a curated bundle of mods pre-configured to work together, with a matching loader and tuned settings, so you skip the hardest part of modding — resolving conflicts and matching versions by hand. Packs are how most people play heavily-modded Java without assembling dozens of mods themselves. Bedrock doesn't have "modpacks" in that technical sense — there's no loader to configure. What it has instead is the ability to stack several addons in one world, plus prebuilt worlds that already include their packs. On my site I curate that idea into Setups : groups of Bedrock addons chosen to fit together so you don't have to guess what conflicts. Same spirit as a modpack, adapted to how Bedrock works. Don't try to convert between editions. There's no reliable way to turn a Java mod into a Bedrock addon or the reverse — they're different engines with different capabilities. If you love a specific Java mod and you're on Bedrock, look for a Bedrock addon that does something similar rather than hunting for a "port" that usually doesn't exist. ### The phone vs PC reality Here's the practical bottom line, because it decides everything for most people: - On a phone or tablet, you're on Bedrock. The Minecraft you install from Google Play or the App Store is Bedrock Edition. That means addons, not Java mods — and that's genuinely good news, because addons install in a couple of taps with no PC involved. - Java modding needs a PC. Forge/Fabric, the mods folder, and .jar files all live on desktop Minecraft. You can browse and line up Java mods on your phone, but the actual install happens on a computer running the matching loader. - On PC you might have both. Buying Minecraft on Windows often includes Java and Bedrock. If you're on a computer, check which launcher you're opening — they're separate installs. So if your only device is an Android phone, the honest answer is: you want Bedrock addons, and everything you need works right there. No PC required, no loader to install. ### How to tell which edition you have Not sure which one you're running? Quick checks: - What device is it? Phone, tablet, console, or the "Minecraft" app from an app store → Bedrock. A desktop launcher where you pick "Minecraft: Java Edition" → Java. - Look at the version number. Bedrock versions look like 1.21.x with a longer build string; Java shows a clean 1.21.x . Bedrock also shows edition hints on the main menu and in Settings. - Check the main menu. Bedrock has a Marketplace button and a coins/store presence; Java doesn't. Java's title screen is plainer, with a different button layout. - What file types open? If the game imports .mcpack files, it's Bedrock. If you're dropping .jar mods into a folder, it's Java. ### So which catalog do you actually need? Once you know your edition, picking the right library is easy — and grabbing from the matching one is the single best way to avoid the "it won't open" dead end: - On a phone or tablet (Bedrock)? Head to the Bedrock catalog for addons, maps, skins and texture packs that import with a tap. My MC Bedrock Mods app packages that into a browse-and-install flow with the correct files, so you never fight a broken download. - On a PC with Forge or Fabric (Java)? Use the Java catalog for mods, modpacks and shaders. The MC Java Mods app makes discovery painless — filter by loader and category, line up your downloads, then drop them into your profile. Both apps are free, and you can grab whichever matches your setup from the apps page . The whole point is that once you're in the right catalog, "will this work?" stops being a question. #### Two catalogs, one for each edition Free on Google Play — MC Bedrock Mods for phones, MC Java Mods for PC. We can do something different: describe all of them. Our Java catalogue holds 284,524 mods against 47,580 for Bedrock — six times as many — and counting the whole thing tells you things a top-ten list never will, starting with the fact that the Java side is far patchier than it looks. ### The loader split A Java mod is a .jar file, and a .jar does nothing on its own. It needs a mod loader, and it needs the right one. Here is how the catalogue divides: Loader Mods What it is Spigot 79,554 Server plugins, not client mods Fabric 47,754 Lightweight, fast to update to new versions Forge 34,744 The oldest and most widely known NeoForge 23,555 A newer fork of Forge Quilt 4,994 A fork of Fabric Paper 1,175 Server software, Spigot-compatible Counted 3 August 2026. A mod can list more than one loader. The first row is the one that surprises people. The largest single group in the Java catalogue is not client mods at all — Spigot entries are server plugins, and installing one into your mods folder does nothing. If you have ever downloaded a promising-looking Java mod and found that the game started normally and nothing changed, this is the most likely reason. The second thing worth knowing: Forge and NeoForge are not interchangeable, despite the names. NeoForge is a fork, and a mod built for one will generally refuse to load under the other. Same for Fabric and Quilt, although Quilt is deliberately more forgiving in that direction than the reverse. ### Coverage is uneven, and we would rather say so Not every entry in a catalogue this size is equally complete. Ours: Field Java mods with it Share A downloadable file 262,169 92.1% An image 249,261 87.6% A full written description 37,985 13.4% Out of 284,524 Java mods. Only one mod in seven carries a proper write-up from its author. That is not us losing the text — it is what the sources hold. A large share of Java mods are published with a title, a version list and a file, and nothing else. The honest thing to do with a number like that is publish it rather than pad the gap with generated filler. ### The question that decides everything If you take one thing away, take this: the loader and the game version have to match the mod, not each other. Almost every "it doesn't work" report we receive on the Java side comes down to one of three mismatches. - Wrong loader. A Fabric mod under Forge does not load. It also does not usually crash — it simply is not there, which is why people assume the mod is broken rather than misplaced. - Wrong version. A mod for 1.20.1 under 1.21 will normally refuse to start, and take the whole game down with a crash log naming it. This one at least tells you what happened. - Server plugin in a client folder. See the Spigot row above. 79,554 opportunities to make this mistake. None of these are exotic. All three are visible before you download, if the listing tells you the loader and the supported versions — which is exactly why we surface both on every mod page rather than burying them in the description. ### Which versions the catalogue actually covers Version support is the other half of the compatibility question, and the shape of it is not what you would guess from release notes. Counting distinct mods per major line: Minecraft line Java mods supporting it 1.21 110,135 1.20 98,283 1.19 41,697 1.8 36,252 1.16 35,909 1.18 33,687 1.17 26,931 1.12 25,113 A mod usually supports several lines, so these overlap heavily. Two things stand out. The current line dominates, as expected — but 1.8 sits fourth , above 1.16 and 1.18, for a version released in 2014. That is the PvP and minigame server world, which never moved on and never will; the Spigot plugins from the table above cluster here. If you have ever wondered why a decade-old version still has active development, that is the answer. The second is 1.12, still carrying 25,113 mods. 1.12.2 was the last stop for a generation of large Forge modpacks, and their dependencies are frozen there. A modpack is a web of mods that must all agree on a version, so the whole web tends to stay put rather than migrate together. One caveat we would rather state than hide: 24,070 Java mods carry no version information at all — 8.5% of the catalogue. Some sources simply do not publish it. Where we have nothing, we show nothing rather than guessing, which is why some mod pages have a version line and some do not. ### Java against Bedrock, briefly The two halves of Minecraft modding do not resemble each other. Bedrock add-ons are packaged archives that the game imports directly; there is no loader, and the main failure mode is a broken or half-complete pack. Java mods are code that runs inside the game through a loader, and the main failure mode is a mismatch between three moving parts. That difference shows up in the numbers. On Bedrock we can open every archive and tell you whether it will install, because the answer is in the file. On Java we cannot promise that, because whether a mod works depends on what else you have installed alongside it. Anyone claiming otherwise about a 284,000-mod catalogue has not tried. --- ## Night vision packs in Minecraft Bedrock, explained Source: https://mcmodshub.com/blog/minecraft-night-vision-packs.html Night vision packs in Minecraft Bedrock, explained | MC Mods Hub Catalogue data · Bedrock ## Night vision packs: one name, two completely different things Two packs can carry the same title, promise the same result, and be built in ways that have nothing in common. We measured 139 of them, and the difference shows up exactly where you would expect it to: in how often people come back to say it did not work. ### What they actually do — and what they do not The name is misleading. A night vision pack does not give you the potion effect. It changes how the game draws darkness: the lighting texture the engine uses to shade unlit areas is replaced with one that is uniformly bright. Caves stop being black. Night stops being dark. This is why the honest name for the category is fullbright , and why the effect looks flat rather than glowing — there is no light being added anywhere, only shadow being removed. Two consequences follow immediately. It applies everywhere at once, including places you might not want it. And it is drawn entirely on your device — the world itself is unchanged, and nobody else sees anything different. ### The split nobody advertises We open every pack in the catalogue we can and record what is actually inside. Across 139 night vision and fullbright packs with 8,323,441 downloads, the structures divide almost evenly: - 64 are a single resource pack — one manifest, a replaced lighting texture, nothing else. - 54 are multi-pack archives — a resource pack bundled with something else, most often a behaviour pack that applies an effect or registers a command. - 21 we could not identify. From the listing page these look identical. Same screenshots, same promise, often the same title. The difference only becomes visible when you open the file — or when it stops working. ### What the complaint rate says Reports per 1,000 opens over the last 30 days, split by what the pack actually is: Structure Reports per 1,000 opens Opens measured Single resource pack 1.31 19,077 Multi-pack archive 1.76 8,514 Structure unreadable 8.55 702 Catalogue average, for scale 3.15 — The plain resource pack draws about 25% fewer complaints than the bundled version , and both sit comfortably below the catalogue average. That ordering is not a coincidence, and it is the same mechanism we found in X-ray packs : a pack made only of images has almost nothing that a game update can take away, while anything with behaviour attached inherits every version and scripting problem that behaviour brings with it. The third row is the one to read carefully. Packs whose structure we could not identify complain at 8.55 per 1,000 — roughly five times the rest. The sample is small (702 opens), so treat the exact figure loosely; the direction is not subtle, and it makes sense: an archive our tools cannot parse is usually an archive Minecraft cannot parse either. ### Why yours might not be working Fullbright fails in specific, recognisable ways, and almost none of them mean the file is broken: - Another pack sits above it. Resource packs apply top-down, and the lighting texture from whichever pack is highest wins. If you also run a texture pack or shader, move the night vision pack to the top of the active list. - You are running a shader. Shaders replace lighting wholesale. A fullbright pack under a shader does nothing at all, and no ordering fixes it — they are competing for the same job. The difference between the two is covered in texture packs vs shaders . - It is the bundled kind and the behaviour half never activated. Multi-pack archives need both halves switched on, and people routinely activate the resource pack and stop. If the pack promised a command or a toggle and you never got one, this is why. - The file was named wrong. The usual import trap — one in six packs ships with the wrong extension , and this category is no exception. ### How to pick one that lasts If you want the thing to keep working through the next three game updates, prefer the simple build. Concretely: - Prefer a resource-pack-only release. Fewer moving parts, measurably fewer complaints, and nothing that depends on experimental toggles. - Be suspicious of extra features. A pack that also promises a command, a toggle item or a HUD is carrying behaviour code, and that is the part that ages badly. - Check the declared version. 106 of the 139 state a minimum game version; a pack built for a line above yours will not load at all, whatever it contains. Why that direction matters is in addon broke after a Minecraft update . ### On servers Fullbright is a milder case than X-ray, but it is the same category of thing: an advantage other players do not have, produced on your device. Many servers do not care. Competitive and PvP servers generally do, and the ones that ship a required resource pack will overwrite yours the moment you join — the pack does not break, it simply stops being the one in use. ### The short version Night vision in Bedrock is fullbright: a replaced lighting texture, not a potion. The same name covers a plain resource pack and a bundled add-on, and the plain one measures better — 1.31 complaints per 1,000 opens against 1.76, both well under the catalogue's 3.15. When one does not work, look at pack order, at whether a shader is overriding it, and at whether the second half of a bundle was ever activated. The file is rarely the problem. --- ## Minecraft texture packs vs shaders (2026) Source: https://mcmodshub.com/blog/minecraft-texture-packs-shaders.html Minecraft texture packs vs shaders (2026) | MC Mods Hub Visuals · Bedrock + Java ## Minecraft texture packs & shaders (2026) Updated 2026 · 8 min read · Bedrock + Java "Texture pack" and "shader" get used as if they mean the same thing. They don't — and mixing them up is why a download sometimes does nothing. Here's the plain-English difference, what each one changes, and how to apply them on both editions. ### The short version A texture pack (properly called a resource pack ) changes the artwork : the images painted onto blocks, items, mobs and the interface. A shader changes the lighting : how light, shadow, water and reflections are rendered. One swaps the paint; the other rewires how the scene is lit. You can run them together — a texture pack to restyle the world, a shader to make it glow. Texture pack = how blocks look. Shader = how light behaves. Different files, different slots in the menus. If you applied a "shader" and nothing changed, you may have loaded a texture pack instead — or you're on an edition that handles shaders differently. ### Texture / resource packs in detail Resource packs replace Minecraft's default art. They can be subtle — a higher-resolution version of the vanilla look — or a complete restyle: realistic, cartoon, medieval, cyberpunk, or a clean PvP UI pack with simplified inventories and clearer hotbars. They can also change sounds and fonts. Crucially, resource packs are cosmetic : they never change game rules, so they're the safest thing to experiment with and trivial to turn off if you don't like them. Both editions support resource packs natively. On Bedrock they're often shipped as .mcpack files; opening one imports it, and you apply it from Settings → Global Resources or per-world. On Java they're .zip files you drop into the resource packs folder and select in Options → Resource Packs . ### Shaders in detail Shaders transform the atmosphere. Good ones add realistic sunlight and shadows, reflective and rippling water, soft ambient lighting, light shafts through trees, and sometimes waving foliage. The same world can go from flat to cinematic. The trade-off is performance: shaders are demanding, and stronger presets need a capable GPU or they'll drag your frame rate down. #### Shaders on Java Java is the shader powerhouse. Shaders run through a shaders mod — historically OptiFine, and increasingly the Iris mod, which works alongside performance mods on Fabric. You install the shader loader, drop the shader pack into its folder, and select it in-game. Java shaders are the most advanced and customizable. (If you're new to Java mods, start with best Java mods & modpacks .) #### Shaders on Bedrock Bedrock is more limited here. It doesn't support Java-style shader mods, and Bedrock's own enhanced graphics depend on hardware and edition. What you'll commonly find labeled "Bedrock shaders" are resource packs that fake richer lighting and water through clever textures — they apply like any other resource pack and don't carry the same performance hit. Set expectations accordingly: on Bedrock, the visual leap comes more from texture packs than from true shaders. Watch performance. If your game stutters after adding a shader, lower its preset or pick a "lite" version. On phones and older PCs, a tasteful texture pack often looks great with none of the slowdown. ### How to apply them The exact steps depend on edition and type, but the shape is always the same: get the file, import or place it, then select it in the right menu. For Bedrock resource packs the full walkthrough — including the activation toggle people miss — is in our install Bedrock addons guide, since resource packs use the same import flow. For Java, the loader and folder setup is covered in install Java mods . ### Where to find them — the easy way Finding quality packs that match your Minecraft version and edition is the tedious part. Our apps fold texture packs and visual content into the same browsing experience as everything else: the MC Bedrock Mods app lists texture and appearance packs alongside addons and maps for one-tap install, and the MC Java Mods app surfaces shaders and resource packs by category. It is not a mod. Understanding what it actually is explains both why it keeps working through game updates that break everything else, and why taking it onto a server ends badly. ### It is a texture pack, and that is the whole story An X-ray pack does not add a feature. It replaces the textures of common blocks — stone, dirt, gravel, deepslate — with fully transparent ones. Ores keep their normal textures, so what is left visible is the ores, floating in an empty grey nothing. The game is not doing anything special. It is drawing exactly what it always draws; you have simply told it that stone looks like glass. That single fact is behind everything else on this page. It also means the effect is entirely local to your device. The server, and anyone else playing on it, sees an ordinary world. Nothing about the terrain has changed — only your view of it. ### By the numbers Our Bedrock catalogue currently holds 157 X-ray packs with 9,455,219 downloads between them. Of the ones whose structure we have opened and identified, 65 are single packs and 74 are multi-pack archives — an X-ray texture set bundled with a wrapper. 128 of the 157 declare a minimum game version. The number worth stopping on is a different one. Reports per 1,000 opens, last 30 days Rate X-ray packs 1.99 The catalogue as a whole 3.15 People complain about X-ray packs roughly a third less often than about the average add-on. That is not what you would guess about a category of content with a reputation for being sketchy — and the reason is mechanical, not moral. ### Why they survive updates that break real add-ons Most Bedrock add-ons break for one of two reasons: they run scripts through an API that moves between game versions, or they declare behaviour components that a newer game reads differently. Both are covered in detail elsewhere on this site — the toggle 1,560 add-ons need and why your mod is built for another version . An X-ray pack does neither. It ships image files and a manifest. There is no logic to break, no API to move, no experiment to enable. A texture that was transparent in 1.16 is still transparent in 1.21, because "transparent" is not a feature the game re-implements every release. So the category inherits an unusual property: it is close to update-proof. That is the honest explanation for the lower complaint rate — not that these packs are better made, but that they have far less surface to break. The general rule this points at: the more a pack does, the more an update can take away. Pure resource packs are the most durable thing in the catalogue. Script-driven add-ons are the least. ### What still goes wrong with them The 1.99 is not zero, and the failures cluster in predictable places: - New blocks are not covered. A pack built before deepslate existed makes stone transparent and leaves deepslate solid, so everything below the transition looks like a wall. The pack is not broken — it is simply older than the block. - Resource pack order. If another texture pack sits above it in the active list, that pack's stone texture wins and the X-ray does nothing. Move it to the top of Resource Packs. - Wrong file extension. The usual import trap, and it hits this category as much as any other — see one in six packs ships with the wrong extension . - Ore-only variants. Some packs hide everything except ores; others only tint ores brighter without removing stone. The screenshots on a listing are frequently from a different pack than the file. ### On a server, this is cheating — and it is visible Worth being blunt about, because a lot of pages on this topic are not. In your own single-player world, an X-ray pack is a tool. Plenty of people use one to plan a build, find a cave system, or recover a lost base without spending an evening digging. Nobody is affected but you. On a multiplayer server it is a different thing entirely. You are seeing information the game intends to hide, and the advantage over other players is exactly the point. Server operators treat it as cheating, and it is not hard for them to spot: anti-cheat plugins watch mining paths, and a player who walks a straight line to buried diamonds over and over produces a pattern that does not occur naturally. Many servers ban on the pattern alone, without ever inspecting your device. There is also a technical reason you cannot hide it forever: some servers ship their own required resource pack, which replaces yours on join. If a server does that, the X-ray simply stops working the moment you connect. ### The short version An X-ray pack is a texture pack that makes stone invisible. Because it contains no logic, it is one of the most update-resistant things you can install — measurably so, at a third fewer complaints than the catalogue average. It works only on your screen, which makes it harmless alone and unambiguously cheating with other people. And when it does fail, it is almost never the pack that is broken: it is pack order, a block the pack is older than, or a filename that lied about what was inside. If you are installing one for the first time, the mechanics are the same as any other resource pack — how to install Bedrock packs covers it, and addon not showing up covers what to do when the import goes quiet. --- ## Your mod isn't broken — it's for another Minecraft version Source: https://mcmodshub.com/blog/mod-built-for-another-minecraft-version.html Your mod isn't broken — it's for another Minecraft version | MC Mods Hub Bedrock & Java · data ## Your mod isn't broken. It's built for another Minecraft version. 2 August 2026 · 8 min read · Bedrock & Java A mod that installs cleanly and then does nothing is the most demoralising kind of failure, because there is nothing to fix — no error, no missing file, no obvious step you skipped. In a large share of these cases the file is perfectly healthy. It was simply built for a different version of Minecraft than the one you are running, and neither the game nor the download page bothered to say so. I pulled the numbers across our whole catalogue to show how common that actually is. ### Most content targets exactly one version This is the root of it. Of the Bedrock add-ons that declare which versions they are for, 13,277 name exactly one — 43% of them. On Java it is worse: 132,443 mods name a single version , just over half of everything that declares at all. How many Minecraft versions a single mod claims to support. Measured 2 August 2026. Versions declared Bedrock Java Exactly one 13,277 132,443 Two or three 6,132 47,013 Four or more 11,389 80,436 A single-version mod is not a badly made mod. It is usually a mod whose author rebuilds it for each Minecraft release and uploads each build separately. That is the correct thing to do — and it is exactly what makes shared links go stale. Someone posts a link in a chat in March, you tap it in August, and you receive a file built for the game as it was five updates ago. The tell: if a mod installs, activates, and produces absolutely nothing — no new items, no new mobs, no visible change — check the version before you check anything else. A genuinely corrupt file usually fails earlier and louder. ### What the Bedrock catalogue actually covers Live Bedrock add-ons by declared Minecraft version, top of the list. Version Add-ons 1.21 8,147 26.10 6,056 26.30 5,475 26.0 5,355 26.20 5,166 1.21.130 4,811 1.19 4,589 1.20 4,569 If the numbers beginning with 26 look like corrupted data, they are not. Bedrock moved to a year-based naming scheme, so 26.x is the 2026 line and it sits above 1.21, not below it. We had to teach our own filters that, and plenty of tools out there still sort those releases to the bottom as though they were ancient. If your game reports a 26.x version, look for content on the 26.x lines rather than assuming everything modern is labelled 1.21. ### Two different claims, and only one of them is measured There are two separate statements about version on any add-on page, and they come from completely different places. - "Works with 1.21" — what the author wrote on the upload page. It is a claim, it is often copied forward from the previous release, and nobody verifies it. - "Manifest requires 1.21.0 or newer" — read by us out of the pack file itself. Minecraft reads the same line and refuses to load a pack whose floor is above your game. We keep those apart deliberately. On our mod pages the second one appears under "Verified by MCModsHub" — because it is a measurement of the file we are actually handing you, not a repetition of someone's description. Where the two disagree, the manifest wins, every time. The floor is a minimum and not a ceiling. A pack asking for 1.16.0 will usually still load on a 2026 build. The reverse never works: a pack asking for 1.21.0 will not load on 1.20, and the message Minecraft shows for that is vague enough that most people conclude the download is corrupt. ### Java: the loader gap nobody warns you about On Java there is a second version to match — not just the game, but the mod loader. And here the catalogue shows something worth knowing before you commit to a setup. These are the mods available for the 1.21 line, by loader: Java mods supporting any 1.21.x release, by loader. Measured 2 August 2026. Loader Mods for 1.21.x Fabric 25,123 NeoForge 19,084 Spigot / server plugins 10,916 Forge 5,378 Quilt 2,237 Look at the bottom two rows. Forge has 5,378 mods for 1.21.x against Fabric's 25,123 — 4.7 times fewer. That gap is not visible anywhere on a download page; you only see it after you have installed Forge and started hunting for mods that fail to exist. If you are setting up a fresh 1.21 profile and have no strong reason to pick Forge, Fabric or NeoForge will give you a far wider catalogue. Across all versions the ranking looks different — Forge has 34,692 mods in total, and Spigot leads outright with 79,527 — because Forge's library is deep in older versions where it dominated for years. Which is another way of saying the same thing: on Java, "how many mods exist" is meaningless without naming a version and a loader. ### 1.20.1 refuses to die, and that's fine The single most supported Java version in the catalogue is not the newest one. It is 1.20.1, with 80,385 mods , ahead of 1.21.1 at 61,927. 1.8 still carries 35,174, kept alive almost entirely by PvP servers. Big modpacks pin a version and stay there for years, and mod authors follow the players rather than the release notes. So if you are chasing a specific mod that only exists for 1.20.1, running an older profile is a completely reasonable choice — not a compromise. Minecraft launchers let you keep several profiles side by side precisely for this. ### How to check in ten seconds - Know your version. Bedrock shows it in the bottom corner of the main menu. Java shows it in the launcher next to the profile. - Read the manifest line, not the description. On our pages, "Manifest requires Minecraft X or newer" is the measured one. If your game is below X, stop there — nothing else will help. - On Java, match three things: game version, loader, and loader version. A Fabric mod for 1.21.1 will not load on Fabric for 1.20.1. - If the link came from a chat or a video, assume it is stale. Search the mod by name and take the current build instead. We filter the catalogue by version for exactly this reason — you can browse Bedrock add-ons or Java mods narrowed to the version you actually run, so the stale builds never reach you in the first place. And if something still misbehaves, the guides cover the rest: an add-on that doesn't show up , and a Java mod that won't load . All figures measured against our own catalogue on 2 August 2026. Version and loader labels come from the mod's own listing; the manifest requirement is read by us from the file. --- ## The mods you cannot download, and why they still exist Source: https://mcmodshub.com/blog/mods-you-cannot-download-author-consent.html The mods you cannot download, and why they still exist | MC Mods Hub Catalogue · data ## The mods you cannot download, and why they still exist 3 August 2026 · 6 min read · Bedrock There is a category of mod in every large catalogue that nobody likes to talk about: the ones you can search for, read about, look at screenshots of — and never download. Not because anything is broken. Because the author said no, and the catalogue kept the page anyway. We have 2,982 of them on the Bedrock side. This is what they are, what they cost, and what happened when we stopped putting them in front of people. ### Two different kinds of empty Out of 47,580 Bedrock mods, 7,895 have no file we can hand you. They split into two groups that look identical to a player and are completely different underneath. - 2,982 — consent withdrawn. These are CurseForge mods whose authors switched off third-party distribution. The file exists, it is perfectly fine, and we are not permitted to serve or mirror it. This is not a technical problem and it has no technical fix. - 4,913 — no file resolved. These come from aggregator sites where our scraper found the page but could not resolve an actual download. Some are dead links on the source; some are pages that never had a file. This group is at least partly fixable, and we work through it. An author turning off redistribution is a completely reasonable thing to do. They want downloads to happen on their page, with their stats and their support thread. The problem is not the decision — it is that a catalogue which keeps showing the entry afterwards is quietly promising something it cannot deliver. ### What it cost, measured We could have argued about this. Instead we measured it. Every day we record, per group: how many mods, how many times they were opened, and how many complaints they generated. Complaints per 1,000 opens is the number that matters, because the groups are wildly different sizes. Date Consent withdrawn Normal, downloadable Ratio 31 July 2.31 0.65 3.6× 1 August 1.34 0.53 2.5× 2 August 1.04 0.46 2.3× Complaints per 1,000 mod opens. 39,327 downloadable mods against 2,941 with consent withdrawn. At the start of the measurement the undeliverable group generated complaints at more than three times the rate of the normal catalogue. That is the cost of showing someone a mod they cannot have: they assume it is broken, and they tell you so. On 30 July we stopped surfacing that group in discovery — the front page, the new-mods feed, the recommendation rails. We did not delete the pages, and we did not block search: if you specifically look for one of these mods by name, you still find it, with the situation explained. What changed is that we no longer walk up to people and offer it. The rate has been falling since. It is not zero and it will not go to zero, because a mod that cannot be downloaded will always annoy the person who wanted it. Our own verdict on whether the change worked is not due until the numbers settle across a full week — three days is a direction, not a result, and we would rather say that than round it up into a victory. ### Why not just delete them It is a fair question, and we chose not to for two reasons. The first is that the decision can be reversed. Authors change their minds, and settings get toggled by accident. We re-check consent flags on a schedule; a mod that becomes distributable again comes straight back into discovery with its page, its history and its search ranking intact. Deleting the entry would throw all of that away to solve a problem that might last a week. The second is that a search result saying "this exists, here is what it is, you will need to get it from the author" is genuinely more useful than no result at all. The failure we were fixing was not that these mods appear — it is that they appeared as though they were downloadable , mixed into feeds designed to make you tap. ### What we mirror, and why that is the other half of the story Where authors do allow redistribution, we take the opposite approach and keep our own copy: 24,472 Bedrock mods are mirrored on our storage. That is not about speed. It is because links rot. Source sites reorganise, files move, hosts go down, and a catalogue that only holds links slowly turns into a list of 404s. Mirroring is also what lets us open the archive and check it before you ever download — which is a different article, but the two policies come from the same place. A catalogue's job is not to have the biggest number on the front page. It is to make the entries mean something when you tap them. --- ## Most-wanted Minecraft Bedrock franchises Source: https://mcmodshub.com/blog/most-searched-minecraft-bedrock-franchises.html Most-wanted Minecraft Bedrock franchises | MC Mods Hub Bedrock · picks ## The five most-wanted franchises, and which add-ons actually work. 2 August 2026 · 6 min read · Bedrock Minecraft search demand is overwhelmingly about named things , not genres. In the week to 2 August, Wither Storm was searched 8,262 times, Ben 10 7,149, Backrooms 4,119, Poppy Playtime 3,735, Naruto 4,443. Each of those funnels thousands of people onto a few dozen files — and those files are not equally healthy. We download and open every add-on we can reach, so rather than guessing, here is what survived the check. ### What "actually works" means here Every pick below cleared two separate tests on our side. The download link was fetched and answered with a real file, and the archive was opened and its manifest read, confirming it is a complete pack rather than half of one. Neither test involves reading the description. One caveat, stated plainly because the numbers below are meaningless without it: an add-on that has not cleared both tests is not automatically broken. It may simply be waiting in the queue, or sit behind a page that hands the file only to a human. The counts are "confirmed good", not "the rest are rubbish". Bedrock add-ons per franchise, confirmed downloadable and complete, 2 August 2026. Franchise Searches/week Confirmed good In catalogue Ben 10 7,149 24 37 Wither Storm 8,262 16 26 Naruto 4,443 39 93 Backrooms 4,119 69 188 Poppy Playtime 3,735 51 183 The pattern worth noticing: the franchises with the most uploads have the lowest confirmed share. Poppy Playtime has 183 entries and 51 confirmed; Wither Storm has 26 and 16. Popular names attract re-uploads, half-packs and abandoned early attempts, so "more results" and "more good results" are not the same thing — which is precisely why picking the top of a search list by eye goes wrong. ### Why the popular names have the worst hit rate It is worth understanding the mechanism, because it applies to any franchise that gets big, not just these five. A name that trends collects re-uploads . The same pack gets mirrored across a dozen sites, each copy drifting a little - one loses a file in repackaging, one is an older build frozen in time, one is a screenshot gallery wrapped around an archive that was never finished. None of them announce which they are. From the outside they are a page of near-identical titles. They also collect half-packs . Most Bedrock add-ons ship two parts: a behaviour pack that defines what a creature does, and a resource pack that defines what it looks like. When only one half gets uploaded, the result imports perfectly and then gives you invisible mobs, or decoration that stands still. Across the whole catalogue that is about 7.6% of add-ons; inside a heavily re-uploaded franchise it runs higher, because each re-packaging is another chance to drop a file. And they collect abandoned attempts . A franchise gets popular, twenty people start an add-on for it in the same month, three finish. The other seventeen stay in listings forever, looking exactly as legitimate as the three. None of that is visible from a title, a thumbnail or a download count - which is the entire reason we open the files instead of ranking them by popularity and hoping. ### Wither Storm The single most-searched creature in Bedrock modding, and the one with the healthiest catalogue - 16 of 26 confirmed. - Decayed Reality V2.1 - Wither Storm Replica - 698,791 downloads and the most-taken file of the five franchises. Confirmed complete. - Cracker's Wither Storm Bedrock Port - 474,144 downloads. The Bedrock port of the version most people have seen in videos. - Froggs Wither Storm - 27,221 downloads, a lighter take for weaker devices. ### Poppy Playtime Highest volume of uploads, lowest confirmed share - 51 of 183. Choose carefully here. - Me Poppy Playtime - 1,727,692 downloads, by a wide margin the most downloaded add-on in this article. - Poppy Playtime 5 - 165,070 downloads, covering the later chapters. - Poppy Playtime 1 Minecraft Update 2 - 60,336 downloads, the first-chapter build kept current. ### Ben 10 The sharpest demand-to-supply gap we measured anywhere: 117 searches for every available add-on . 24 of 37 confirmed. - Ben 10 Ultimate - 627,142 downloads and effectively the default choice; nothing else in the franchise is close. - Ben 10 Classic - 24,148 downloads, the original-series line-up. - Vactrica's Ben 10 Add-On - 9,259 downloads, a smaller alternative take. ### Naruto 39 of 93 confirmed. Uploads cluster heavily around a few character sets. - Naruto Craft - 89,342 downloads. - Naruto Uzumaki (BedStudio) - 82,596 downloads. - Naruto Shippuden: War of Shinobi - 75,375 downloads, the broadest of the three. ### Backrooms 69 confirmed out of 188 - the widest spread in quality, and the franchise where an unchecked pick is most likely to disappoint. - Backrooms - SankoRooms 1.3 - 190,436 downloads. - The Backrooms - 139,558 downloads. - Liminal Craft: Backrooms Addon - 89,405 downloads. One thing to check before you blame the add-on. Several franchise packs add custom mobs with scripted behaviour, and those need Experiments switched on in that specific world or they import and do nothing at all. It is the most common reason a perfectly good pack looks dead - see the toggle nobody mentions . ### How we would pick, in one line Take the confirmed-good entry with the most downloads, activate both of its packs, and turn on Experiments before deciding anything is broken. That order resolves the large majority of the reports we receive - only 16.7% of "broken mod" reports turn out to be about the mod . Download counts are the source's own figures and move constantly; the confirmed counts are ours and change as more files get opened. Everything here is searchable in the Bedrock catalogue . All figures in this article were measured against our own catalogue on 2 August 2026 and will drift as the catalogue grows and more files get checked. --- ## We opened 39,065 Bedrock add-ons: what actually installs Source: https://mcmodshub.com/blog/we-opened-39000-bedrock-addons.html We opened 39,065 Bedrock add-ons: what actually installs | MC Mods Hub Bedrock · data ## We opened 39,065 Bedrock add-ons. Here is what actually installs. 2 August 2026 · 8 min read · Bedrock Every add-on in our Bedrock catalogue gets downloaded and unpacked on our side before you ever tap it. Not sampled — every one we can reach. That leaves us with a pile of numbers nobody else has, because nobody else opens the files. The headline is boringly good news: 90.1% are fine . The other 9.9% is where this gets interesting, because the failures are not random. They repeat, they have names, and most of them are things you can spot before you download. ### What "checked" means here Of the 47,000-odd live Bedrock entries, 39,065 have been fetched and inspected. The remaining 8,301 are waiting in the queue or sit behind a page that hands out the file only to a human. When we say a file was checked, we mean the archive was downloaded, opened, and its manifest read — the same manifest Minecraft itself reads when it decides whether to import a pack. Verdicts across 39,065 checked Bedrock add-ons, measured 2 August 2026. Verdict Add-ons Share Fine — imports as expected 35,196 90.1% Incomplete — needs a pack it doesn't ship 2,958 7.6% No manifest — Minecraft can't identify it 836 2.1% Not a pack file at all 75 0.2% ### The half-pack problem is the big one 2,958 add-ons declare a dependency on another pack and then don't include it. This is the single most confusing failure in Bedrock, because nothing looks wrong . The file downloads. Minecraft imports it. The pack appears in your world settings and activates happily. And then in the game, the new mobs have no textures, or the textures exist but the mobs never spawn. It usually happens because the author uploaded one half of a two-part add-on — the behaviour pack without its resource pack, or the reverse — either by mistake or because the two halves live in separate downloads on their original site and only one link got shared around. Related and separately counted: 539 packs ship custom entities in a behaviour pack with no matching resource pack anywhere. Those are the invisible mobs. You hear them, arrows hit them, and there is nothing to see. How to spot it before downloading: on our mod pages the "Verified by MCModsHub" panel says "Ships one half — this pack asks for another pack that is not included" when we found this. If it says "Complete pack" , everything it depends on is inside the file. ### What is actually inside these packs We also classify what each archive contains. 32,530 packs have been through this: Composition of 32,530 unpacked Bedrock archives. Contents Packs Behaviour and resource pack together 15,180 Resource pack only — textures, sounds, models 9,906 Behaviour pack only — rules, mobs, recipes 5,594 Skin pack 1,019 Could not be classified 831 A resource-pack-only download is not a defect, by the way. A texture pack or a shader is supposed to be resources and nothing else. That is exactly why we track "incomplete" separately from "resource pack only" — one is a broken add-on, the other is a texture pack doing its job. Conflating the two would flag ten thousand perfectly good downloads. ### Beta APIs: the switch nobody mentions Of 32,099 add-ons we could test for it, 1,529 will not run unless Experiments → Beta APIs is switched on in the world settings. That is under 5% of the catalogue, and it causes a wildly disproportionate share of "I installed it and nothing happened" messages — because the pack activates normally, the game gives no warning, and the scripts inside it simply never load. These tend to be the ambitious ones: add-ons with custom menus, quest systems, working machines, NPCs that talk. If you downloaded something clever and the world looks untouched, this is the first thing to check. Open the world, hit Edit, scroll past the pack lists to Experiments, turn on Beta APIs, save, and go back in. ### Version floors, and why "made for 1.21" is not the whole story Every pack states a minimum engine version in its manifest. Here is what the catalogue asks for most often: Most common minimum engine versions across Bedrock add-ons we have read. Requires at least Add-ons 1.21.0 3,509 1.17.0 2,834 1.16.0 2,004 1.13.0 1,627 1.20.0 1,620 1.8.0 1,484 The floor is a minimum, not a guarantee. A pack that asks for 1.16.0 will usually still load on 1.21 — but a pack asking for 1.21.0 will not work on 1.20, and Minecraft's error message for that is unhelpful enough that most people assume the file is broken. When our panel says "Manifest requires Minecraft 1.21.0 or newer", that is read out of the file itself, not copied from a description. The other side of this trap: on sites where an author publishes one file per game version, a link shared in a chat six months ago points at a build for a version you no longer run. The file is fine. It is just not for your game. ### What players report, and what surprised me Between 16 June and 2 August 2026 we received 24,171 problem reports covering 6,509 different mods. The breakdown is not what I expected: 24,171 player reports by stage of failure, 16 June – 2 August 2026. Where it went wrong Reports Share The file wouldn't download 8,619 35.7% Downloaded, but wouldn't import 8,470 35.0% Imported, but nothing happens in game 4,039 16.7% Something else 3,042 12.6% I assumed "doesn't work in the game" would dominate, because that is the failure people talk about. It is the smallest of the three. Seven out of ten problems happen before Minecraft is ever involved — during the download, or at the moment the file is handed to the game. That reframed what we work on. A dead download link is our problem to fix, not yours: we can re-host the file, or find the author's current one. An import that fails is usually a file named with the wrong extension — Minecraft chooses how to open a pack purely from .mcpack versus .mcaddon versus .mcworld , so a pack saved with the wrong one imports as "unknown name" and does nothing. That is also fixable on our side, and it is why our pages tell you the real type when the name disagrees with the contents. ### The rest of the tail Small counts, but each one is a specific broken thing rather than a vague "didn't work": - 133 packs depend on beta features so old that current Minecraft no longer provides them. - 85 have a manifest that isn't valid JSON — a stray comma is enough for the game to reject the whole pack. - 40 silently override the player model, which is why an unrelated add-on can suddenly change how your character looks. - 15 have a manifest we couldn't read at all, and 15 more aren't valid archives despite the file name. ### What to do with all this If you take one thing away: most add-ons are fine, and most failures are two or three specific, nameable things. When something doesn't work, it is almost never mysterious. - Nothing downloaded? Try another network and check your storage. If it still fails, tell us — a dead link is ours to fix. - Downloaded, but Minecraft never opened it? Re-open it from the Downloads tab in our app rather than from the file manager, and make sure Minecraft is installed and current. - Imported, but the world looks untouched? Check both pack lists are activated, then turn on Experiments → Beta APIs. - Mobs with no textures, or textures with no mobs? You have half a pack. Look for the other half, or pick a different upload of the same add-on. And the step-by-step versions of all of that live in our guides — including installing Bedrock add-ons and what to do when an add-on doesn't show up . All figures in this article were measured against our own catalogue on 2 August 2026 and will drift as the catalogue grows and more files get checked. --- ## 4 million searches: what Minecraft players want Source: https://mcmodshub.com/blog/what-4-million-minecraft-searches-show.html 4 million searches: what Minecraft players want | MC Mods Hub Data · search ## 4 million searches in a week: what Minecraft players actually want. 2 August 2026 · 7 min read · Data In the seven days to 2 August our catalogue handled 3,983,440 searches across 874,178 distinct strings. That is a fairly direct picture of what people want from Minecraft right now — but only if you know what the numbers count. Read straight off the top of the list, this data tells you two things that are flatly untrue. So here is the picture, and here is how we nearly got it wrong. ### Trap one: half the top results are not searches The raw list of most-searched strings opens like this: verity , horror , ver , the , gun , mo , ve . ver was searched 12,572 times. ve , 9,560. veri , 9,095. verit , 4,171. Nobody wants a mod called ve . Our search runs as you type, so every partial word on the way to a real query lands in the log as its own row. The apparent popularity of two-letter strings is thousands of people spelling verity one keystroke at a time. This matters more than it sounds. A demand report built on the raw list would conclude that the most wanted things in Minecraft are ver , the and mo , and somebody would go and do something about it. Everything below is filtered to strings of four characters or more with the obvious typing fragments removed, and adult search terms stripped out entirely - they are a real and large share of the log, and they are not what this article is about. ### What people actually search for Most-searched terms, seven days to 2 August 2026, typing fragments and adult terms excluded. Search Times Matching mods verity 37,714 56 horror 15,489 1,576 action 8,581 706 wither storm 8,262 113 fnaf 8,079 256 ben 10 7,149 61 guns 6,743 429 stalker 6,598 159 create 6,194 7,161 shader 6,097 1,932 one block 5,883 1,491 sonic 5,368 149 tacz 4,609 62 naruto 4,443 90 backrooms 4,119 131 poppy playtime 3,735 174 Two clean groups fall out of this, and they behave completely differently. ### Named things beat categories, by a lot The biggest single term in Minecraft modding right now is not a genre. It is one horror mod , searched 37,714 times in a week - more than twice the entire horror category and six times shader . People do not arrive wanting "a horror mod". They arrive having watched a specific thing on a specific channel, and they type its name. That pattern repeats all the way down: Wither Storm, FNAF, Ben 10, Sonic, Naruto, Backrooms, Poppy Playtime. Franchises and named mods, not descriptions. Generic words like better , more , realistic and real do appear, but they sit well below and they behave like browsing rather than searching - the person does not know what they want yet. ### Where demand runs past supply The third column is the interesting one, because it turns searches into a ratio. Create is searched 6,194 times and has 7,161 matching mods - more supply than demand, and every result is a real option. Minecraft as a bare word returns 22,495, which is another way of saying it returns nothing useful. Then there is the other end: - Ben 10 - 7,149 searches, 61 mods. 117 searches per available mod. - TACZ - 4,609 searches, 62 mods. 74 per mod. - Wither Storm - 8,262 searches, 113 mods. 73 per mod. - Naruto - 4,443 searches, 90 mods. 49 per mod. - Sonic - 5,368 searches, 149 mods. 36 per mod. - Backrooms - 4,119 searches, 131 mods. 31 per mod. Compare that with horror at 10 searches per mod, or create at less than one. A franchise search concentrates thousands of people onto a few dozen files, which has a practical consequence: those few files carry enormous traffic, so when one of them breaks it is not a small problem. It is the reason our hourly re-check targets the most-opened mods rather than sweeping the catalogue evenly. ### Trap two: the biggest source of empty searches is the most popular term 8.21% of searches returned nothing. The obvious next question is which searches, and the obvious answer is wrong. Top of the empty-handed list is verity - 361 searches that found nothing. Which looks alarming until you put it next to the 37,714 searches for the same word that found plenty. The failure rate for the most popular term in the catalogue is 0.96% , and those 361 are typos, odd spacing, and searches fired while a filter was narrowing the results. Any term with enormous volume has an enormous tail. Sorting empty searches by absolute count just re-sorts the catalogue by popularity and calls it a gap. The genuinely missing things live further down and are much smaller: avaritia at 238, falsity at 191, twixxel at 188 - names from videos and other games with little or no Bedrock presence yet. Those are worth chasing. Verity is not. The rule we now apply to every number here: before acting on a count, ask what one row in that table represents. One keystroke or one intention? One person or one page of scrolling? An absolute or a share? Every one of those questions has caught us out at least once, and each time the wrong answer pointed at real work that did not need doing. ### What we do with it Search demand steers three things. It decides what our scrapers prioritise, because a franchise with 117 searches per available mod is worth going and finding more of. It decides which mods get re-checked most often, since concentrated demand means concentrated damage when a file dies. And it feeds the synonym handling - people search in their own language and their own spelling, and matching only exact English strings would strand a large share of the catalogue. If you want to see the results rather than the analysis, the Bedrock catalogue and Java catalogue are both fully searchable, and our breakdown of what actually installs covers what happens after you find something. All figures in this article were measured against our own catalogue on 2 August 2026 and will drift as the catalogue grows and more files get checked. --- ## Where Minecraft mod downloads fail, country by country Source: https://mcmodshub.com/blog/where-minecraft-downloads-fail-by-country.html Where Minecraft mod downloads fail, country by country | MC Mods Hub Delivery · data ## Where Minecraft mod downloads fail, country by country 3 August 2026 · 7 min read · Delivery A mod download either arrives or it doesn't, and until recently we could only count the failures — not the attempts. That sounds like a small gap. It isn't: without knowing how many people opened a mod in the first place, a country with more users always looks like a country with more problems. We fixed the denominator this month. The picture that came out is lopsided in a way we did not expect. ### The numbers These are failures per 1,000 mod opens, measured on 2 August 2026, for every country with at least 5,000 opens that day. A "failure" here means the app tried to fetch the file, could not, and fell back to asking our server for help. Country Mod opens Failures Per 1,000 Russia 35,020 7,825 223.4 United States 32,370 1,292 39.9 Algeria 6,303 228 36.2 Ukraine 7,037 203 28.8 Thailand 6,720 192 28.6 Germany 7,266 203 27.9 Philippines 27,643 697 25.2 Malaysia 8,084 180 22.3 Chile 7,362 154 20.9 Colombia 7,640 124 16.2 Same catalogue, same files, same app. 2 August 2026. Russia is fourteen times worse than Colombia. Not fourteen percent — fourteen times. And it is not a small country skewing a small sample: Russia and the United States had almost identical traffic that day, 35,020 opens against 32,370, and one of them failed six times as often. ### It is not the mods. It is the road. The obvious explanation would be that Russian players download different, more broken mods. They don't. The failures are spread across 482 different mods, and the single worst one accounts for 9% of them. That is the signature of something wrong with the delivery, not with the files. So we split the failures by which host serves the file . Most mods are fetched straight from the original site; some we mirror ourselves so they stay reachable. Over four days: Date Russia, our mirror Russia, original CDN US, our mirror US, original CDN 30 July 3,343 325 397 629 31 July 4,831 686 578 808 1 August 5,668 877 304 856 2 August 7,069 751 437 844 Failures per day. Only one column is moving. Failures on our own mirror in Russia more than doubled in four days. The same Russian users' downloads from the original CDN stayed flat. In the United States neither column moved. One host, in one country, getting steadily worse while everything else holds still — that is a domain being filtered somewhere on the route, not a file server having a bad week. Knowing that changes what we can do about it. A degrading server would need more capacity. A filtered domain needs a different domain, which is a thing we can test in a day and undo just as fast. ### Three ways this number lies, and how we caught them We publish these figures with the traps attached, because we walked into all three. #### 1. A count without a denominator is a popularity chart Our own daily report used to rank countries by raw failure count. Russia sat at the top, which was correct, and the United States sat second, which was not — the US was second because the US is big. Once divided by opens, the US drops to a middle-of-the-table 39.9 and countries nobody was watching move up. #### 2. Small countries produce fake emergencies daily On the morning we started checking, the alarm flagged the Dominican Republic at 3.3× its usual level and Bolivia at 5.6×. Both looked like something had broken nationwide. Neither had. The Dominican spike was 477 failures spread over ten mods , with 288 of them — 60% — on a single one. Bolivia's was 55 failures across three mods, 95% on one. That is one broken file, or one determined person, not a country. #### 3. One person can look like a crowd There is no "give up" state in the download button. If a file will not come, people tap again. We measured one player making 17 attempts on the same mod in 26 minutes. In a country with a few thousand daily opens, one such session is a visible spike. Any per-country number built from raw attempts is an upper bound, and we say so rather than quietly presenting attempts as people. ### What we do with this Three things follow directly. Countries where the rate is high but the failures sit on one or two mods get the mods fixed, not the infrastructure. Countries where the rate is high and spread wide get the route investigated — which is how the Russian mirror problem surfaced at all. And countries that look bad only because they are big get left alone, which saves the time that used to go into them. None of this is visible from inside a single download. It only appears when you count the attempts against the opens, keep the two windows aligned, and refuse to believe a ratio built on eleven events. We got that wrong for a while. The numbers above are what it looks like after. --- ## 24,197 "mod is broken" reports: 17% were the mod Source: https://mcmodshub.com/blog/why-minecraft-mods-fail-24000-reports.html 24,197 "mod is broken" reports: 17% were the mod | MC Mods Hub Bedrock · data ## We read 24,197 "this mod is broken" reports. Only 17% were about the mod. 2 August 2026 · 7 min read · Bedrock Every report sent from our app asks one extra question: where did it go wrong? Not "is it broken" — where . Between 16 June and 2 August we collected 24,197 of them across 6,518 different mods, and the answer reshaped how we think about the whole catalogue. The add-on itself misbehaving — imported fine, then wrong in the game — accounts for 16.7% . Everything else failed earlier, in places most people never think to look. ### Where the failures actually land Four stages, because there are four places a pack can die between a listing and a working world. 24,197 player reports by stage, 16 June - 2 August 2026, across 6,518 Bedrock mods. Where it failed Reports Share Download - the file never arrived 8,629 35.7% Import - Minecraft would not open it 8,477 35.0% In game - imported, then wrong 4,045 16.7% Something else 3,045 12.6% 70.7% of the pain happens before the add-on gets a chance to be good or bad. That is the single most useful thing we have learned from running this catalogue, and it is not what we expected. The instinct is to blame the pack. The data says the pack usually never got to play. ### Stage one: the file never arrived A third of all reports. Most mods are not hosted by us - they live on the site the author published them to, and we send you there. Which means the download depends on somebody else's server being up, on their CDN answering in your country, and on the link still pointing at a file that exists. Links rot quietly. An author replaces a file, renames a project, or their host moves things around, and nothing anywhere announces it. The listing stays up and looks perfectly healthy while the download behind it returns nothing. What we do about it: every download link in the catalogue gets re-checked on a schedule, and the most-opened mods get re-checked every hour, so a top mod that broke this morning is caught the same day rather than next week. When a file is genuinely gone, we hide the entry instead of leaving a dead link to be discovered one disappointed download at a time. Where an author allows it, we host a copy ourselves so the download stops depending on anyone else. What you can do: if a download stalls at zero, try once more on a different network before giving up. A meaningful share of these are regional - the file is alive and simply unreachable from where you are. If it still fails, report it; that report is what triggers the re-check. ### Stage two: Minecraft would not open it Another third, and this one is almost entirely fixable. The file arrived. You tapped it. Minecraft either did nothing at all, or opened and announced that it could not identify the pack. The usual cause is boring and infuriating: the extension is wrong . Minecraft Bedrock decides what to do with a file almost entirely by its ending. A .mcpack is a single pack. A .mcaddon is a bundle of several. A .mcworld is a world. Underneath they are all zip archives with different insides, and if a file is named .mcpack while actually containing two packs in subfolders, Minecraft opens it, finds a structure it did not expect, and gives up. Authors mislabel constantly, because on a desktop it often still works and nobody notices. On a phone it does not. What we do about it: rather than trusting the name a source gave us, we read each archive's own structure and serve the extension that matches what is really inside. It is one of the cheapest fixes in the whole system and one of the highest-yield. What you can do: open the file from our app's Downloads tab rather than from a file manager. The file manager hands Minecraft whatever name the file happens to carry; we hand it the corrected one. And if Minecraft is not installed or badly out of date, nothing will open at all - which sounds obvious until it happens to you. ### Stage three: it imported, and then it was wrong 4,045 reports - the ones people mean when they say a mod is broken. These split into a handful of causes that repeat endlessly: - Half a pack. The add-on needs a second pack it does not include, so you get mobs with no textures or textures with no mobs. Around 7.6% of the add-ons we have opened are in this state. Details in what actually installs . - Experiments switched off. 1,560 packs do nothing until you enable Beta APIs in that specific world, and they draw 3.5 times the complaint rate of everything else. Full write-up: the toggle nobody mentions . - Built for a different Minecraft. A pack declares a minimum version, and an older game ignores the parts it cannot read - silently. See your mod isn't broken, it's for another version . - Genuinely broken by the author. A malformed manifest, entities in a behaviour pack with nothing to draw them, dependencies on beta modules the game removed years ago. This is the smallest group and the only one where the honest answer is that the pack cannot be saved. Why the split matters: "this mod is broken" is four completely different problems wearing the same sentence, and three of them have nothing to do with the mod. Sorting them is what lets an answer be specific instead of a shrug - and it is why a report to us gets a reply about your actual failure rather than a generic reinstall suggestion. ### What we changed because of this Knowing where failures land changed what we build. We stopped treating a report as a complaint to be filed and started treating it as a measurement. Every report now runs through the same check we would run by hand: is the link alive, is the extension right, does the archive contain what it claims, does the manifest ask for something your game does not have. The answer goes back to the person who reported it, usually within the hour, and it names the actual cause. It also changed what we hide. A mod whose file cannot be delivered is worse than no mod at all - it costs somebody a download, a wait, and a disappointment. Those come out of the listings until they are fixed, and they go back in the moment they are. ### The short version - Nothing downloaded? Try a different network, then report it. It is probably not your phone. - Downloaded but Minecraft ignored it? Open it from the Downloads tab in our app, not the file manager. - Imported but nothing changed? Activate both packs, then check Experiments in that world. - Mobs with no textures? You have half a pack - find the other half or a different upload. Longer versions live in our guides , including installing Bedrock add-ons and what to do when an add-on does not show up . All figures in this article were measured against our own catalogue on 2 August 2026 and will drift as the catalogue grows and more files get checked. --- ## One in six Bedrock packs ships with the wrong file extension Source: https://mcmodshub.com/blog/wrong-file-extension-mcpack-mcaddon.html One in six Bedrock packs ships with the wrong file extension | MC Mods Hub Catalogue data · Bedrock ## One in six Bedrock packs ships with the wrong file extension We opened 37,330 Bedrock packs and compared what each filename claims against what is actually inside the archive. 6,282 of them disagree — and that mismatch is behind a good share of the import failures people put down to a corrupted download. ### Three extensions, three different things Minecraft Bedrock decides what to do with a file by its extension, and the three you meet are not interchangeable — they describe genuinely different archive layouts. Extension What is inside What Minecraft does with it .mcpack One pack. manifest.json sits at the top level of the archive. Imports a single pack — behaviour or resource, not both. .mcaddon Several packs. Sub-folders, each with its own manifest.json . Unpacks them all — this is how a behaviour + resource pair arrives together. .mcworld A world. level.dat and a db/ folder, no manifest at the root. Imports as a playable world, not as a pack. All three are ordinary ZIP archives underneath. That is precisely why the mistake is so easy to make and so hard to spot: any of them can be renamed to any other and nothing complains until the moment you tap it. ### What the mismatch looks like at scale We read the structure of every Bedrock pack in our catalogue we can open, and record what the archive really is. Comparing that against the filename gives this: Filename says Archive actually is Packs .mcaddon mcaddon ✅ 18,788 .mcpack mcpack ✅ 7,291 .mcworld mcworld ✅ 4,969 .mcpack mcaddon ❌ 4,522 .mcaddon mcpack ❌ 1,708 .zip mcaddon ❌ 52 6,282 files out of 37,330 — 16.8% — are named as something they are not. The larger group by far is a multi-pack archive wearing a .mcpack name: 4,522 of them. Nobody is being careless on purpose. An author zips a folder, renames it to whatever extension they saw on a tutorial, and it works on their own device because their device already has the pack installed from testing. The file reaches everyone else and behaves differently. ### Why the wrong name breaks the import Minecraft reads the extension first and then expects a matching shape inside. - A multi-pack archive named .mcpack — the game looks for one manifest.json at the root and finds folders instead. Depending on the version you get an import error, a nameless entry in your pack list, or an import that appears to succeed and produces nothing. - A single pack named .mcaddon — the game looks for sub-folders and finds a manifest. This one often works anyway, which is why the 1,708 in that row cause fewer complaints than their count suggests. - A world named .mcpack — no manifest anywhere. This is the classic case where the import ends with an unnamed or blank entry, because the game has nothing to read a name from. That last one is worth dwelling on. When people report a pack that imported "with no name", the file is very often a world with a pack extension. It is not damaged, and re-downloading it will never help. ### The fix takes ten seconds Rename the file to match what is actually inside it, then open it again: - Find the download in your file manager (usually Downloads ). - Open the archive to look, if your file manager can — sub-folders each containing manifest.json means .mcaddon ; a single manifest.json at the top means .mcpack ; level.dat means .mcworld . - Rename the extension accordingly and tap the file. If your file manager will not show you inside, the practical order to try is .mcaddon first — it is the most common true shape — then .mcworld . Renaming is non-destructive; the bytes do not change. In our own app we detect the real shape and hand the file to Minecraft under the correct extension, so this class of failure never reaches the person downloading. This article exists because the same files circulate everywhere else too. ### What this does not fix Renaming solves a naming problem and nothing else. If the pack imports cleanly under the right extension and still does nothing, you are looking at a different failure — most often the scripting toggle or a build made for another game version. Those are covered separately in Addon broke after a Minecraft update and Your mod isn't broken — it's for another version . And if the pack never appears in the list at all, start with Addon not showing up or won't import , which covers activation and edition mistakes. ### The short version The extension on a Bedrock pack is a claim, not a fact, and in our catalogue that claim is wrong 16.8% of the time. When an import fails oddly — no name, no error, nothing installed — check the shape of the archive before you assume the file is broken. It usually is not. Configurações do mundo → Experimentos → Beta APIs ### 5. ### 6. MC Bedrock Mods no Google Play . MC Bedrock Mods no Google Play . #### Baixe o Addonaut Grátis no iPhone e no iPad. Funciona no iPad? Sim, do mesmo jeito. Posso criar minha própria skin no iPhone? Sim. Unable to find manifest in pack (на английском).
