Ultimate Harness Upgrades is an add-on resoursepack for the Better Ghast Harness datapack which visualizes every happy ghast harness tier added by this datapack while it keeps harness color customization from the vanilla harnesses. The tiers are visualized by a chainmail coverage under the harness, a specific glasses tint and the saddle colors taken from the horse armor tiers.

Harness Tier Appearances

The table below explains the appreance of each tier to easily recognize one in your inventory or on your happy ghast:

Tier Chainmail Color Glasses Tint
1 (Waxed) Copper Copper/Sepia
2 Gold Sunglasses
3 Iron Metallic White
4 Diamond Diamonds
5 Netherite Metallic Brown

See the Gallery for screenshots of all the harness tiers.

Technical Details

The texture is choisen according to the harness tier ID which is written in the components.minecraft:custom_data.tier NBT tag of the harness. The base datapack relies on the same tag to apply the speed boost on happy ghasts, so you can freely rename your harness, and the texture will stay the same.

This resourcepack requires Optifine or ETF to enable harness texture selection, since vanilla Minecraft resourcepacks still don't support texture selection for equipment, like it does for items in the player inventory. The item icon selection, though, works using the formerly called feature thanks to the code borrowed from the Faster Happy Ghast official resourcepack.
