Hardcore Ender Dragon

Hardcore Ender Dragon or Hardcore Dragon for short is in BETA.

This datapack make the Ender Dragon significantly harder while keeping the fight relatively vanilla. New attacks and behavior have been added to make the final boss an actual challenge unlike the vanilla one.

It's compatible with any map and custom Ender Crystals placement (the ones with a bottom part), as the place where the dragon is spawned doesn't matter. It's also in theory compatible with multiple dragons spawned simultaneously, but it may be a bit buggy if they are all at the same place in the world.

Make sure the gamerule doDaylightCycle is set to true.

How does the fight work (simple, spoiler free):

The dragon has 5 phases and they will activate as his health gets lower and lower. The first phase is just the normal dragon, and it ends when (spoiler):

Spoiler all crystals are destroyed.

How does the fight work (detailed, SPOILERS):

All of the phased are additive which means in the final phase the dragon will be able to use any of the attacks of previous phases.

Phase 0:

• The Dragon is the vanilla one but the crystals are respawning after some time if they are not all destroyed simulteniously.

Phase 1:

• The Dragon gets 2 new random attacks:
  • He can summon a crystal on the head of an enderman. This enderman will follow the dragon to heal him.
  • He can charge at you.

Phase 2:

• The Dragon gets 1 new random attack, he can rise into the sky and create clouds that will cause many light strikes bellow them.
• The Dragon gets 1 modified attack, dragon fire balls are now repeatedly shot and are explosive.

Phase 3:

• The Dragon gets 2 new random attack:
  • He can breath purple "fire" everywhere he goes for a certain amount of time.
  • He can randomly decide to grab players on his way after he is done perching. You can try escaping by repetitively Sneaking.
• The Dragon gets 2 modified attacks:
  • When he perches, he will command the endermans to attack you until he is done.
  • When he charges at you, he will be faster and can follow up with a grab.

Phase 4:

• The dragon stop loosing hp after a certain threshold until he start a unique new attack that will respawn the crystals you previously destroyed. This is the first thing he will try to do after entering phase 4.
• The Dragon gets 2 modified attacks:
  • When he perches, he will also spawn shulker bullets around him.
  • When he spawns an ender crystal on an enderman he will also create himself a certain amount of shield layers depending of how much players are near him. Those shields protect him from projectiles and can be destroyed with 3 shots each or in 1 shot with a trident.

Finally:

• The dragon go back to its perch position, rise in the sky and create a meteor. It will fall back down and make all entities take serious damage as well as launching them in the sky. After this the dragon only need one hit to be defeated.

After defeating the dragon, you get a Hardcore Dragon Head which, when worn, extends your range by 2 blocks.
