Ever had tremendously bad luck finding Ruined Portals trying to find Crying Obsidian? Or, have you ever actually wanted to build with the darn stuff and been unable to find it in adequate quantities? Luckily, this datapack provides recipes for Crying Obsidian, and does so in two ways with two separate versions.
The base edition of the pack adds a fairly-expensive recipe for it:
Shapeless: 2 Lapis Lazuli Blocks + 1 Obsidian = 1 Crying Obsidian
This version is intended to be used primarily in cases where the player does not intend to build with the stuff and its only purpose is Respawn Anchors or for mod/datapack recipes, and is "balanced" around that goal.
If the player does intend to build with Crying Obsidian in any meaningful capacity, that's going to add up real quick. Or, if you simply believe that two full Lapis blocks is a cost too high and would rather a more basic and cheap recipe, enter Builder's Edition!
The Builder's Edition adds a recipe of peak simplicity:
Shapeless: 1 Lapis Lazuli + 1 Obsidian = 1 Crying Obsidian
