Infiltrating the Stronghold

What if strongholds were stealth dungeons? Whether you're sneaking around or facing it head-on, just remember, the stronghold is more afraid of you than you are of it.

The Watchers

Watchers are a new category of mob. There are currently 3 kinds and they spawn in pairs in the stronghold. The Sculk Watcher attaches itself to the ceiling and surveys the area for players. If it sees a player or anything else that startles it then it acts like an alarm and activates nearby infested blocks. Its partner is either the Obsidian Watcher or the End Watcher which each has a different tear attack that helps the Sculk Watcher in a different way. Other features involving redstone, eyes of ender and loot can be read about on the wiki.

Silverfish

Silverfish stats have been buffed a little and the knockback they deal has been reduced. Think of silverfish like the queen in a hive. In strongholds, infested blocks contain a random number of endermites in addition to the one silverfish. You may also find a shelled variant of the silverfish.

Infested Blocks

These blocks have been mechanically reworked to be much less stable and more sensitive to player actions.

Loot

Stronghold loot has been completely rebalanced. changed to complement the game mechanics of the dungeon. Additionally, iron gear is enchanted and volumes of the monster manual can be found in the library.

End Crystals

The end crystal recipe has been changed
