This datapack affects world generation and villager mechanics
- Villages no longer spawn in world generation. Consequently, villagers can only be obtained through zombie villager curing.
- Villagers can no longer spawn iron golems.
- All villager trades are set to a single 1 emerald for 1 emerald trade. This preserves profession lock-in.
Added Recipes
- Bell
- Experience Bottle
- Saddle (backported from 1.21.6)
- Name Tag (backported from 26.1)
These items are either impossible or unnecessarily difficult to obtain without villagers.
Why I made this
I have a lot of problems with villagers in general, which were brought out by 1.14 trade re-rolling mechanics.
- They are the best source for food, gear, iron, xp, enchantments, etc.
- They are repetitive and unengaging to work with.
- They are literal humans. They are the human mob. They are the person character.
In effect, they heavily reward straight up human trafficking and extremely boring play as the best way to get almost all vital progression resources. Genuinely inexcusable game design from Mojang.
Village structures also have their own problems. They reduce early-game food to finding a village, stealing all of their wheat, and crafting bread. I've also found that my friends will always settle in a village when given the option, which I find very boring.
