Overview
Freeze Mobs is a lightweight datapack that allows players to immobilize entities using vanilla mechanics. It is designed for survival utility or creative building.
Mechanics
Freezing: Rename a name tag to "freeze me" and apply it to a mob. The entity will lock in its current coordinate and rotation by having its AI disabled (NoAI). If succesful the mob will be named "frozen".
Unfreezing: Apply a name tag renamed "unfreeze me" to restore normal AI behavior. If succesful the mob will be named "unfrozen".
You can rename the mob to something else after freezing it; the freeze effect will persist.
Technical Limitations
Does not affect the Ender Dragon, Wither, or Warden to prevent progression exploits.
Frozen mobs cannot move, fall, or rotate, but they retain their hitboxes and can still take damage, die, or be put in minecarts.
