Curses in Enchantment Table

A very simple datapack that uses the data-driven enchantment system added in snapshot 24w18a to make all curses appear in the enchantment table, in addition to regular enchants. Curses will function like regular enchants, meaning that they can be visible, like in the screenshots, but could also be hidden.

This pack effectively modifies one single line of Minecrat's data, so it's probably the most simple way to do so.

Compatibility

Since this pack only makes use of minecraft's built-in "curse" tag, it should be compatible with nearly all mods and datapacks that add curses. It might not work with mods that fundamentally overhaul how enchanting works.

All projects in my Enchanting Stuffs collection are compatible with each other. Additionally, I have tested a few other projects for compatibility:

• Apothic Enchanting (Apotheosis): ✅ Confirmed compatible.
• Better Enchanting: ❌ Incompatible - curses won't show up in the table. While Better Enchanting does provide a way to easily configure custom enchantments through a configuration file (more details at their page) and thus make them compatible, it seems to always prevent curses from appearing regardless.
• Combat+: ✅ Confirmed compatible.
• DunChanting: ✅ Confirmed compatible. However, since DunChanting only ever applies one enchantment per slot, you'll always know whether you're going to get a curse before enchanting and can thus avoid it.
• Enchantments Encore: ✅ Confirmed compatible.
• Easy Magic: ✅ Confirmed compatible.
• Enchancement: ✅ Confirmed compatible. However, by default, Enchancement will let you choose your enchantments while also disabling hidden enchantments, meaning you can easily avoid getting unwanted curses. Luckily, Enchancement offers extensive configuration options; you'd have to edit those for this combination to make any sense.
• Enchantica: ✅ Confirmed compatible.
• Enchanting Infuser: ✅ Confirmed compatible.
• Enchanting Tomes: ✅ Confirmed compatible.
• Enchants Plus: ✅ Confirmed compatible.
• Incantationem: ✅ Confirmed compatible. However, the 4 curses added by the mod will only show up when the enchantment table is not fully powered up by bookshelves, which is due to them having a maximum cost value of 25, which is less than what a fully-powered enchantment table provides. If wanted, this can be changed by overwriting the max_cost field in the data/incantationem/enchantment/<id-of-the-curse> file using datapacks, or by changing that file directly in the .jar.
• Just a lot more enchantments: ✅ Confirmed compatible. However, like with Incantationem, some curses by default won't show up in a fully-powered enchantment table.
• More Enchants: ✅ Confirmed compatible. However, again, the Curse of Giantism and Curse of Smallism have their max costs set to 10 and 7 respectively, meaning they won't show up when the enchantment table is fully powered up.
• Nadir: ✅ Confirmed compatible.
• RPG Enchanting: ❗ Unnecessary - curses will show up in the RPG enchanting table anyways, so you can remove this datapack. However, since the mod does not override the functionality of the vanilla enchanting table, but rather adds a new block and overrides the recipe, you can still use the old vanilla enchanting table, for which this pack might still be relevant, provided you add another way to craft or otherwise obtain it.
