End Portal Timer helps server owners control when players are able to access the End Portal and fight the Ender Dragon. You can set a time limit for when the portal will become active, preventing players from rushing to the End too quickly. When the portal is inactive, players attempting to use it will receive a customizable message informing them of when it will become available.

This plugin is ideal for server owners who wish to schedule a grand Ender Dragon battle with many players for a more immersive and challenging experience. It also caters to those who prefer a more leisurely pace and want to ensure that players enjoy the game's content without rushing through it.

Features

Supported versions

The distributed JAR is built against the oldest supported API so the same file can be used across all supported release lines.

/ept reload Reload config.yml and messages.yml
/ept setdate <MM-dd-yyyy> <HH:mm:ss> Set an exact unlock date and time
/ept countdown <duration> Start a relative unlock countdown
/ept status View the timer and portal status
/ept toggle Enable or disable portal locking
/ept help Show commands available to the sender

Countdown examples include 60s, 2m, 1h, 1d, and combined values such as 1d2h30m.

Permissions

Permission Description
endportaltimer.* Grants every plugin permission
endportaltimer.admin Grants every administrative permission
endportaltimer.reload Reload the configuration
endportaltimer.setdate Set the exact unlock date and time
endportaltimer.countdown Set a relative countdown
endportaltimer.status View timer status
endportaltimer.toggle Toggle portal locking
endportaltimer.bypass Place Eyes of Ender while the lock is active

Administrative permissions default to server operators. The help menu and tab completion show every available command, while execution remains protected by the permissions above.

Quick setup

  1. Place the EndPortalTimer JAR in your server's plugins folder.
  2. Start the server once to generate config.yml and messages.yml.
  3. Configure unlock-schedule.date, unlock-schedule.time, and unlock-schedule.timezone, or run /ept countdown 1d.
  4. Run /ept status to confirm the timer.

Example:

unlock-schedule:
  date: "12-31-2026"
  time: "20:00:00"
  timezone: "Asia/Manila"

Optional dependency

DecentHolograms enables temporary holograms when players interact with a locked portal frame. EndPortalTimer works normally without it.
