RealisticChicken
RealisticChicken makes chicken breeding more realistic by replacing instant baby spawning with egg laying.
In vanilla Minecraft, chickens automatically lay eggs and breeding immediately creates chicks. This plugin changes that behavior to simulate a more natural and realistic reproduction system.
Features
- Chickens no longer lay eggs automatically over time — Automatic eggs are converted to infertile eggs
- Breeding chickens will lay eggs instead of instantly spawning chicks
- Each breeding produces 1–3 eggs randomly
- Breeding still gives vanilla-equivalent experience (1–7 XP)
- Chickens enter the same 5-minute cooldown as vanilla breeding
- Supports multiple languages — English and Japanese supported for egg descriptions
- The language can be set in the plugin config
Egg Types
- Fertilized Egg (有精卵) — Can hatch into a chick when thrown
- Infertile Egg (無精卵) — Will not hatch, produced automatically by chickens over time
How it works
Vanilla:
- Feed seeds → Chick appears instantly
- Eggs are laid automatically over time.
RealisticChicken:
- Feed seeds → Eggs are laid
- Throw the eggs to hatch chicks (fertilized eggs only)
This creates a more immersive and realistic farming experience.
Compatibility
- Supports Paper, Purpur, Spigot, and Bukkit
- Supports Minecraft 1.21.x
- Requires Java 21 or newer
- No dependencies required
Performance
RealisticChicken uses only two lightweight event listeners and does not run any repeating tasks. It is safe for servers of any size and has negligible performance impact.
