Server Software Paper 1.21.11
Java Version Java 21 or higher
Required Plugin CustomMusicDiscsPack
⚠️ CustomMusicDiscsPack is required. CustomMusicDiscs handles the disc items and jukebox playback logic, but the audio itself is delivered to players via a resource pack generated and hosted by CustomMusicDiscsPack. Both plugins must be installed and configured together for the system to work.
Installation
Step 1: Install Both Plugins
Download and place both JAR files into your server's plugins/ folder:
Start your server once to let both plugins generate their configuration files and folders. Then shut the server down.
Step 3: Configure CustomMusicDiscsPack
Navigate to plugins/CustomMusicDiscsPack/config.yml and set your server's IP address and resource pack port:
yaml
auto-apply-on-join: true
resource-pack-port: YOUR_PORT
server-ip: "YOUR.SERVER.IP"
If your hosting provider does not allow custom ports, you can use an external hosting service such as Google Drive or mc-packs.net to host the resource pack, and add the direct download URL to your server.properties file instead.
Step 4: Add Your Music
Add your .ogg audio files to the plugins/CustomMusicDiscs/music/ folder using the following naming format:
Artist-SongName-Album.ogg
Examples:
Beethoven-Moonlight Sonata-Piano Sonatas.ogg
MyBand-Our Song-Debut Album.ogg
Start your server, join the game, and run the following commands in this Order:
/loadmusic
/generatepack
/applypack
Run This One More Time To Apply Custom Disk Texture And Track Number
/loadmusic
Edit plugins/CustomMusicDiscs/drops.yml to configure which mobs drop discs and at what percentage chance. Use /reloaddrops to apply changes without restarting.
How It Works
CustomMusicDiscs and CustomMusicDiscsPack work as a pair:
drops.yml Example
yaml
enabled: true
default-drop-chance: 5.0
player-kill-only: true
mob-drop-chances:
ZOMBIE: 5.0
SKELETON: 5.0
CREEPER: 10.0
WITHER_SKELETON: 15.0
ELDER_GUARDIAN: 20.0
WARDEN: 50.0
WITHER: 100.0
ENDER_DRAGON: 100.0
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I add as many songs as I want?
A: Yes. There is no built-in limit. Add as many .ogg files as you like.
Q: Do I need to restart the server to add new songs?
A: No restart is required. Add new .ogg files, then run /generatepack and /loadmusic again.
Q: Can Bedrock players hear the custom music?
A: Bedrock players connected via GeyserMC will not hear the custom audio. This is a known limitation of how Geyser handles custom sound playback.
Q: The resource pack shows red in the Minecraft menu — is that a problem?
A: No. The plugin works correctly regardless of the color indicator. The music will play normally.
Q: What audio format is supported?
A: Only .ogg (Ogg Vorbis) format is supported, which is the format Minecraft uses natively for all audio.

Features
Custom Music Discs
- Create fully custom music disc items from your own .ogg audio files
- Each disc displays the Artist, Song Title, Album, and Track Number when hovered over in the inventory
- Discs use the vanilla music disc texture so they look natural and familiar in-game
- The vanilla "C418" descriptor line is hidden — replaced with clean, custom information
- Track numbers are automatically assigned based on the order songs appear in your resource pack
- Custom discs work seamlessly in vanilla jukeboxes
- Inserting a disc into a jukebox plays your custom audio track for all nearby players
- Removing the disc from the jukebox stops the music immediately
- Breaking the jukebox also stops playback correctly
- Only your custom audio plays — no vanilla disc sounds overlap or interfere
- Name your audio files using the format: Artist-SongName-Album.ogg
- Drop them into the plugins/CustomMusicDiscs/music/ folder
- Run /loadmusic to instantly generate disc items in your inventory
- No database, no complex configuration — it just works
- Song titles containing apostrophes, accented characters, exclamation marks, and other special characters are handled automatically
- Invalid characters are stripped from sound keys to prevent silent failures
- No need to manually sanitize your filenames
- Hostile mobs have a configurable chance to drop your custom music discs when killed
- Fully configurable per-mob drop percentages via drops.yml
- All 33 hostile mobs are included with balanced default drop chances
- Boss mobs such as the Warden, Wither, and Ender Dragon have higher default drop rates
- Optional player-kill-only setting to prevent automated farming
- Dropped discs are randomly selected from all songs in your music folder
- Reload drop configuration in-game with /reloaddrops — no restart required
