DeathDelay is a lightweight, professional utility that transforms the player death experience. Instead of an immediate respawn, players face a configurable countdown that persists through disconnects and uses Spectator mode to keep them engaged while they wait.
Key Features
- Persistent Countdown: Timer starts at death and keeps ticking even if the player stays on the "You Died" screen or leaves the server.
- Ghost Spectator Mode: If a player respawns before the timer ends, they are placed in a waiting "Ghost" state (Spectator mode).
- Global Spawn Teleport: Automatically pull players back to a central world/spawn point (e.g., your Lobby world) upon release.
- Anti-Cheat Protection: Blocks command usage (like
/home
or
/tp
) while the player is in the death waiting period. - Full Visual Customization: Customize titles, subtitles, and chat messages with full color code support and %time% placeholders.
- Admin Control: View player status or release players early with simple management commands.

- Stand at your desired global spawn point and run /dd setspawn.
- Configure your delay and messages in plugins/DeathDelay/config.yml.
- /dd reload — Reload configuration (deathdelay.admin)
- /dd setspawn — Set the global release point (deathdelay.admin)
- dd setdelay — Change global delay time (deathdelay.admin`)
- /dd status — Check remaining wait time (deathdelay.admin)
- /dd release — Manually free a player early (deathdelay.admin)
- Bypass Permission:deathdelay.bypass (Players skip the delay entirely)
