The Crying Nether
Build #41
Explore a new dimension, another version of the nether or so it would seem. Add a new dimension to your server to extend gameplay and add a new area to get resources!
This dimension features: Nether caves, structures and mobs as well a custom generator creating a unique touch to the dimension. The biomes are nether mapped to allow default nether materials to appear, quartz/gold ore, basalt, bone blocks and etc. This dimension does not contain certain features and blocks retaining to trees at the time being and due to resource usage climbing up if I do, I may not implement such. It's minimum y is currently 44 and is max 240 covered by bedrock. Update: 0.0.2 - Now updated to have the crying nether spawn ancient-debris from Y110 to Y160 as appropriate for the dimension. It still retains a proper rarity so that it's not overly abundant causing instability in your server.

Spoiler: Getting Started
Start by building a crying obsidian portal frame
with the opening facing north/south.
Must be all 16 not a minimum of 10 like the normal nether portal.
Then simply right click with an empty hand inside the frame
at the bottom right or left depending on which way you are facing.
It will then open for you no need for flint/steel.

Spoiler: Important Notes
(This is a custom dimension it will not be super light on the server it will need some resources. I tested it, and it worked fine on my paper test server while set to 2gb)
(so it shouldn't be too resource expensive to use all in all but more so than let's say a colored sign plugin by quite a bit)
(Note: this is the first beta test release)
One thing for developers to note, the crying portal is not intended to be entered in creative mode, 99% of the time if you are in creative the games native quick teleport to the default nether will take you there. So set yourself to survival use the portal then switch back if need be.
This beta does not contain any config options at the time being.

Here are some images but it's hard to really get the vibe from them.
I recommend trying it out and exploring a little, it's quite different from the nether itself in structure. There is a lower and upper, the upper contains the crying obsidian tendrils, the middle the caves and the lower is the lava area seen in most of the screenshots.

Enjoy!
