In Minecraft, certain weapons deal more damage in a single strike than others. To keep things balanced, these heavy damage weapons are often given a longer cooldown period, which is the time the weapon becomes unusable for until a second strike can be made. In the vanilla game, if you strike once with a long cooldown weapon, then switch to another hotbar slot and immediately switch back again to the weapon, the cooldown will be reset. For weapons with higher cooldown, this method can be used to skip resets and deal faster attacks. Fast Tool Switching Mod basically prevents players from exploiting this. This mod stops attack cooldown from resetting upon switch items.
