Monster Expansion Mod (1.20.1) – Epic Strategic Boss Hunts

Monster Expansion Mod is a skill-based combat mod that transforms how battles work in Minecraft. Instead of simple fights, it introduces strategic, long-duration hunts inspired by Monster Hunter.

Features:

• Large monsters with unique AI and attack patterns
• Breakable and interactive monster body parts
• Custom weapons and armor crafted from monster materials
• Element-based combat system
• Companion system with advanced support abilities

Progression System

• Monsters are designed to be fought in order:
  • Rhyza → Skrythe / Rakoth → Leivekilth
• You should craft armor from previous monsters before fighting stronger ones.
• Recommended starting gear:
  • At least Netherite armor with Protection II
• Fights can last up to 20 minutes depending on your gear.

Combat Mechanics

• Multi-Part System
  • Each monster has separate body parts:
    • Head
    • Body
    • Tail
    • Wings (if available)
  • Each part has:
    • Its own health
    • Different weaknesses
• Part Breaking
  • Focus damage on a specific part to break it.
  • Some parts (like tails) can be severed.
  • Breaking parts:
    • Reduces monster abilities
    • Grants special crafting materials
• Weapon Types
  • Different parts require different damage types:
    • Blunt → effective against head
    • Slashing → effective against tail
    • Piercing → effective against body / wings
• Element System
  • Each part has its own elemental weakness.
  • Current element:
    • Ice
  • More elements are planned in future updates.
• Skill-Based Gameplay
  • You must dodge attacks, not tank them.
  • Monster attacks are telegraphed and require movement.
  • Taking too many hits can:
    • Stun you
    • Apply status effects
  • Shields are less effective against heavy attacks.

Companion System

• You can obtain a companion called Kobeko.
• Features:
  • Fights alongside you
  • Targets monster parts intelligently
  • Can use support tools
• Can be equipped with:
  • Armor
  • Weapons
  • Special gadgets
• Can be revived if defeated.
