ViaForge Mod allows you to join Minecraft servers that use a version incompatible with your own. For example, with this mod, you can connect to a server running version 1.18.2 while using 1.12.2. However, it’s not a flawless solution-there are limitations and potential issues like server kicks or bans.

You may have noticed that some servers support both older and newer client versions (e.g., 1.12.2-1.18.2). That’s usually handled through server-side plugins. But if a server doesn’t have that functionality, connecting from a different version isn’t normally possible.

By installing this mod, you can attempt to connect and play. It doesn’t add new blocks or items from updated versions-instead, it substitutes them with similar or alternative ones (e.g., new wood types are replaced by existing ones, andesite fences become cobblestone, beehives turn into dispensers). It’s probably not ideal for full survival gameplay, but it could work for certain game modes.
