The caves and cliffs update increased the world height. This overhauled Minecraft’s terrain generation to have tall, slopey mountains that stand tall. But the way these peaky mountains are generated are somewhat dissatisfying. The steep surface rule condition in the world generation only works on the north and east faces of slopes. This causes the south and west sides of these peaky mountains to appear bad as more dirt and stone are exposed amongst the snow. MC-258859 Mod fixes this issue so that all sides of a peaky mountain appear visually pleasing.
