Winter Essentials Mod aims to be a fun vanilla+ mod with some new winter-themed additions. It aims to increase the difficulty by making the travel in snowy biomes slightly harder by adding a new snow type, Powdered Snowlayer, which, just like normal powdered snow, slows you down and give the “freezing” debuff.

Features:

Melting Snow: A snow variant which will melt over time. This block drops normal snowballs when mined with a shovel and normal snowlayer block when mined with a silk touch tool.
Powderd Snowlayer: A combination between powdered snow and normal snow layers. Like powdered snow, it slows you down and applies freezing if there is more than one layer. This block can spawn naturally during worldgen or while snowing. Like powdered snow, it does not drop anything when broken, but can be picked up using the Snow Pouch. Similarly to Melting Snow, it also melts when naturally spawned in warm biomes. Manually placed block do not have this limitation.
Snow Pouch: An item used to carry around powdered snow blocks/layers. It can hold half a stack worth of powdered snow blocks.
- Usage:
  - Right click will pick up any powdered snow block/layer, or place down a layer if it is not used on a powdered snow block.
  - Shift+Right click will place a layer on top of a powdered snow block, or will increase the layers of a powdered snowlayer block
Skates: An item for traveling over “ice” blocks. It has a small speed boost when on ice, and also increases the friction. This gives you better control by making ice less slippery.
SnowShoes: An item for easy travel through snowy places. While walking on “Snow” blocks, you gain a movement speed boost. You are also able to walk over any “Powdered Snow” block (and are immune to the “freezing” effect).
SnowShoe: A crafting item used to create SnowShoes and to upgrade normal boots to have the “SnowShoe” upgrade.
- The “SnowShoe” upgrade: The item can be applied in the smithing table to any kind of boots to give them the “SnowShoe” upgrade. This upgrade grants boots the ability to walk over powdered snow, but does not protected you from the “freezing” effect. It also does not have the speed boost SnowShoes has.
