World Preview Mod (1.21.1, 1.20.1) – Preview A Map/Seed in The New World Screen

World Preview Mod allows you to visualize the world before it is generated. When creating a new world, you’ll have access to a new preview tab. When opened, it selects a random seed and creates a biome map. The preview is compatible with third-party mods that modify Overworld generation.

Compatibility Notes

• Compatible with most mods, including those adding biomes and dimensions.
• TerraFirmaCraft (TFC): Supported, but the Y-intersection view appears white due to TFC’s generator not providing base column data.

Usage

• World Preview adds a new Preview tab to the Singleplayer menu.
• Opening the tab generates a random seed and displays a biome map.
• By default:
  • Only the Overworld is generated.
  • Structures are hidden.
  • No heightmap is shown.

  These settings can be changed in Settings (top-left button).

• When enabled:
  • Structure sampling allows toggling structure visibility.
  • Height sampling switches between the biome map and a colorized heightmap.
  • Y-layer sampling shows the current y-layer and one lighter layer below.
• Supports opening the preview in-game for single-player worlds (experimental).

How to Use

• Move the preview: Click and drag to move along the X and Z axes.
• Scroll: Moves through Y-levels (up/down), useful for exploring cave biomes.
• Zoom: Adjust in Settings → Resolution → Visual size of a chunk.
• Load sequence when moving:
  • Unsampled biomes
  • Structures (if enabled)
  • Heightmap (if enabled)
  • Adjacent Y-layers (if enabled)
