DirtSimpleP2P is a simple Minecraft networking plugin that lets a public BungeeCord/Waterfall proxy connect to Paper/Spigot backend servers that are behind NAT, without opening the backend server’s Minecraft port on your home router.

It is built for server owners who want the convenience of tools like ZeroTier or Netbird, but in a Minecraft-focused plugin setup.

The backend server makes an outbound tunnel connection to your public proxy. Your proxy then connects to a local address such as 127.0.0.1:25566, and DirtSimpleP2P carries the Minecraft TCP traffic through the secure tunnel.

Basic Installation

1. Put the same DirtSimpleP2P jar in your BungeeCord/Waterfall plugins folder.
2. Put the same jar in your Paper/Spigot backend server plugins folder.
3. Restart both servers so the default config files are created.
4. On the Paper/Spigot backend server, run /dsp2p webwizard to open the temporary setup wizard, or edit plugins/DirtSimpleP2P/config.properties manually.
5. On BungeeCord/Waterfall, edit plugins/DirtSimpleP2P/config.properties manually.
6. Set the proxy side to frontend mode.
7. Set the backend server side to backend mode.
8. Use the same secret token on both sides.
9. Point your Bungee/Waterfall backend server entry to the local bind address created by DirtSimpleP2P, such as 127.0.0.1:25566.

Web Wizard Note

The web setup wizard is intended for the actual Minecraft server side, meaning Paper/Spigot backend servers.

Proxy servers such as BungeeCord/Waterfall should be configured manually by editing:

plugins/DirtSimpleP2P/config.properties

Important

Your public proxy/VPS still needs to allow the DirtSimpleP2P tunnel port so backend servers can connect outbound to it.

Your home/backend Minecraft server does not need a Minecraft port forward.
