LavaSponge Mod adds to the game a new type of sponge, the Lava Sponge. Of course, different from the orthodox sponge as these lava sponges cannot be utilized easily due to their heat. If players are stubborn and jump on it to test their luck, they would be burnt indefinitely. However, if utilized impeccably, players would acquire a rather powerful source of power, which could be used to power the furnace. If players want to use it like normal sponges, they would have to cool it down by surrounding the Lava Sponge with 5 blocks of ice. At the same time, the Lava Sponge could also be used as a layer of defense against enemies as they are often clueless regarding the power of the sponge. These Lava Sponges cannot be found in the wild as players would need to craft them manually.
