Blasting Base/Modded Metal Blocks Mod adds a simple feature that allows you to smelt raw ore blocks as a whole. In the vanilla game, mining an ore like iron would drop raw iron. Raw iron can then be smelted in a furnace to obtain iron ingots. But with this mod installed, raw iron can be crafted into a raw iron block and this block can then be smelted into an iron block. No time, experience or items are lost. The smelting process of raw iron blocks takes nine times the time taken by raw iron. This mod works with vanilla ores as well as ores added by other mods.
