Spells & Shields Mod adds a system for learning magical spells to Minecraft, along with a simple mana system. By using various in-game items and accumulated mana, players can cast spells that provide useful effects, which are helpful even in combat.

This is a solid magic mod in a vanilla style, simple and intuitive, seamlessly integrating into the game and introducing numerous new gameplay mechanics. In addition to spells, the mod adds new enchantments and several new potions. With spells, you can jump high, glide down slowly, breathe underwater, attack enemies like a ghast, teleport like an enderman, and more.

Features:

Enchantment Mechanics:

You now have a mana bar that automatically regenerates but is consumed when casting spells. By opening the enchanting table, you’ll find a new menu with a spell research tree. To learn a spell, you’ll need several experience levels and a specific number of bookshelves around the table. After learning a spell, you can assign it to one of the five slots in your inventory, with each slot bindable to a control key. Be cautious, as some spells require the player to hold a specific item to cast them.

New Effects:

Mana Boost: Increases the maximum amount of mana a player can store.
Extra Mana: Grants additional mana points, similar to yellow extra health hearts.
Silence: Prevents you from casting spells while the effect is active.
Magic Immune: Makes you immune to all magical damage.

New Potions:

Potion of Instant Mana: Restores mana, similar to a health potion.
Potion of Mana Bomb: Instantly depletes mana.
Potion of Replenishment: Gradually restores mana over time, like a regeneration potion.
Potion of Leaking: Drains the target’s mana over time, similar to a poison potion.

New Enchantments:

Magic Protection: For armor, provides double protection against magical damage.
Mana Blade: Increases weapon damage by consuming mana.
Mana Shield: Currently non-functional enchantment.
Mana Regeneration: Increases mana regeneration, with a full set doubling the regeneration rate.
Maximum Mana: Increases your maximum mana capacity, with a full set doubling the amount of mana.
