You are allowed to use the villager workstation in a manner that corresponds to the villager’s profession. You can repair the tool by going to the area close to the Villager tool smith, or you can repair weapons like swords and trident by going to the area close to the Weapon Smith. When you approach the edge of the Leather Worker, you have the option of turning the Rotten Flesh into fabric; alternatively, you can move close to the Butcher to collect meat without having to slaughter the animals. Every village professor has additional chores to accomplish; the one you are working on merely has to have enough currency (in this case, Emerald) to be able to exchange and trade it after it is finished. You will have more time to devote to other activities, and if you find that you require it unexpectedly, you will be able to walk up to the nearby people and barter for the items you require.
