The fishing mod adds various new mechanics and restrictions into the world of Au Naturel.

Now players are limited to fishing, roughly to the cast landing successfully in an ocean, river, beach or shore environment.

Additionally, the player can only fish in areas within a certain amount of sea level, so fishing in water pools on mountain tops is not going to work any more.

The fishing mod also adds in at least two more additional mechanics in the background.

Firstly, the frequency and reliability of fishing in the world is variable and localised, such that fishing in different places changes the probability and amount of fish liable to be caught in that region.  You must now hunt out and discover good and bad fishing spots.

Secondly, the amount of fish that can be caught in each spot is now tracked and localised.  After an amount of time, the area will become overfished, and require a period of several in game days to return to full fecundity.  Catching fish lowers the immediate probability of catching each additional marginal fish in the local vicinity.
