ChunkNoGoByeBye Mod 1.16.5, 1.15.2 adds a simple chunk loader that could keep chunks loaded in single player/hardcore without opening to LAN.
Uses vanilla’s /forceload command. Each block loads a single chunk that it is in.
These are basic blocks, not TileEntities so they are extremely lightweight.
