Objectively Better Minecraft
A tongue-in-cheek riff on the Better Minecraft modpack series, OBM aims to, instead of expanding Minecraft into a sprawling adventure game or add as many blocks as the game can handle, strictly add features that only enhance the base Minecraft experience; With a large focus on quality-of-life features, aesthetic enhancements, and integrating new gameplay mechanics and alterations that follow the philosophies of the base game's design as closely as possible:
- A custom JEI + EMI setup paired with the Fast Suite series and Not Enough Recipe Book optimises and modernises the functionality of the recipe book without roadblocking recipes behind arbitrary unlock conditions
- A functional and intuitive anvil repair system via Easy Anvils where repair costs DON'T scale up over time, allowing you to hold onto tools and armour forever even without Mending!
- Far less finnicky horses via Horseman, letting you lead them to fences whilst riding them, letting them swim and ride boats, and more
- Numerous small aesthetic additions, like leaves falling from trees, water splashes, loading screens picturing the last thing you saw when closing the world, food items actually utilising unique eating animations, open model seams being closed, and more
- Unique sprite art for every Enchanted Book to better distinguish them, made by me!
- Overhauled tool and armour designs, also made by me!
- Highly customized Complementary + Euphoria shaders paired with a low-end Distant Horizons config, designed to match the base art style of the game AND obscure chunk-loading as much as possible for a more immersive Minecraft experience
- Essential screenshot, in-game skin-swapping, and online world-sharing utilities
- ... And more!
* ... If it wasn't clear already, this modpack DOES contain subjective changes and additions :P
The modpack's name mostly jabs at people who claim their favourite modpack is 'Everything Minecraft should be', when a truly objectively better Minecraft experience that doesn't alienate anyone would likely just be a performance-boosting modpack with some utility mods like Controlling and Appleskin thrown in to boot.
Whilst opinionated though, this pack still aims to improve the game in subtle and unintrusive ways nonetheless.
Feel free to build off of this pack as a base for your own modpack - But if you do that, I'd appreciate a shoutout in your credits for it :)
Hope you enjoy!
