General information:
Really simple plugin which may be useful that will allow you to open iron devices (doors and trapdoors) through right clicking. This has some useful configurable options found in plugins\OpenIron\Settings.yml file.
Spoiler: Changing options in the Settings.yml file
These are the really simple steps to change the Settings file.
Before anything else, I suggest you using Notepad++ to edit YAML (actual extension is .yml) files, but you may use any other editor if you have it. Using your system's default notepad may confuse you by seeing no indention.
So, here are the steps:
  • After having loaded the plugin (e.g. starting the server), a folder called "OpenIron" should be created in the plugins folder you just put the downloaded plugin in. Open it, and you'll see "Settings.yml" file.
  • Open Settings.yml file through any editor. Although the keys names may be pretty deduction friendly, I wrote analogously to the keys some information about them.
  • If you don't know how to deal with YML files, as I'm not really good at explaining, I suggest you to look for some tutorial around the internet.
  • Once you finished up changing the options at your likes, save the file and, once back to the game or the server console, type the command
    Code (Text):
    /openiron reload
    and the file's changes will be successfully saved and applied.
This is the really first release of the plugin as well as the first plugin I post, so be patient for any puzzling thing I made if I did make any. Report any glitch you find unless you want to keep it on the plugin and tell me any suggestion to add to the plugin or any change you think it would be interesting to have to the plugin, and I'll consider whether applying that or not.
This plugin so far works only on 1.11.X, but improving its compatibility is the first todo feature, so don't worry if you want it for lower versions: they're coming soon! If you have any doubt feel free to ask about it down here in the comments. This should be all so far!
Permissions (from 0.3):
Spoiler: Permissions
In 0.3 permissions were added for /openiron command (iron doors and trapdoors already have customizable permissions)
  • Generic: openiron.command;
  • Givekey (or give, or any alias) argument: openiron.command.givekey;
  • Info: openiron.command.info;
  • Reload: openiron.command.reload;
  • All arguments and functions: openiron.command.*;
Coming soon features:
Spoiler: TODO
You will find the version(s) the feature is planned for at the end of its description. Each feature will also be prefixed with a symbol, here's their legend:
✔ → It means the feature was already coded and will be posted within the incoming update.
▶ → It means the feature is work in progress.
✖ → It means the feature has to be begun yet. This will likely mean the feature is just a far project I'm just spoiling, it might also mean I'm busy at coding other features though.
Incoming update: 0.4

  • ✖ Adding settings options to create a custom crafting recipe for the set custom item. [ 0.4 ]
Default Settings.yml content:
Spoiler: Default Settings.yml
Code (YAML):

# OpenIron Settings.
#  Feel free to report any glitch or suggest something on spigotmc plugin page.
#  Because of saving issues, I had to put help around keys usage here on the top of the file.
#  All messages will have '&' as color character. See http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Formatting_codes for all available colour codes.
#  All available placeholders will be surrounded by percentages and all of them will always be found in default values.
#  Keys help:
#    custom-item -> General options around using a custom item for iron devices opening.
#    iron-door -> Specific options for iron doors handling once triggered.
#    iron-trapdoor -> Specific options for iron trapdoors handling once triggered.
#    Custom item help:
#      required -> This is true/false only value. It determines whether requiring the custom item or not to open iron devices.
#      item -> You may write here the item type prefixed by "minecraft:", "bukkit:" or "id:" for more specific declaration.
#        NOTE: Prefix is not required but still accepted.
#        WARNING: Numerical ids (prefixed or not by "id:") may stop working soon as they're being removed from the whole game, I may think of reimplementing them myself if they're really requested, but if not mind this will stop working.
#      name -> Defines a display name for the custom item.
#      lore -> Defines the lore of the custom item.
#        The lore is a multiple string description an item displays above modifiers like enchantments. To see it displayed, so, you will have to hover the item when it's in an inventory.
#    Iron door and Iron trapdoor options help:
#      As these two options branches are equal, here I define what both will do.
#      permission -> Options around required permission.
#      Permission sub-options:
#        name -> The name of the permission the player will require. Leave this blank to make it so that players won't require anything
#        message -> The message which will be displayed in the given slot when the permission is missing. Leave this blank to make no message be displayed.
#        message-type -> The message display slot to display the message in. Available values:
#          chat, title, sub_title, action_bar
#           TIP: for title and sub_title message types, you can format fading in, staying and fading out times this way: <title|sub_title>:<fade in>;<stay>;<fade out>. If you don't know it, those are expressed in numebers which can be both integers and decimals.
#        sound -> The sound that will be played to the player attempting to open a door without permission, the format is:
#          sound_name;sound_pitch - If no semicolon and pitch is inserted, it will default on 1.
#          Leave this all blank to make no sound be played.
#    swing-arm -> Determines whether making the player animate like a real interaction so swinging their arm or not.
#    cancel-if-sneaking -> Determines whether cancelling the interaction like it happens for many vanilla's or not.
#    play-sound -> If set to false, the door will be silent and won't play any sound.
#    timing -> If it is set a number greater than 0, that unit will be got as server ticks (20 ticks = 1 second) and used as timing for the door. This is similar to the effect the iron doors do when triggered through a button, but time is customizable. If you leave it to 0, it will just toggle without waiting any time.
# This is all you should know about the following options. If you didn't understand something, feel free to ask more about it.
