Record of Wonderland is a fantasy adventure modpack built around three things: freedom, progression and challenge.

This modpack doesn't turn Minecraft into a completely different game or force the player through a long scripted progression. The idea was to keep the freedom of Minecraft, then build RPG systems around it.

You can explore wherever you want, build wherever you want and approach problems in different ways, but the world is much less forgiving than vanilla Minecraft. Getting stronger matters, preparation matters, and sometimes running away and coming back later is the best option.

A lot of Minecraft's normal rules have been changed to make that work.

Record of Wonderland isn't meant to be an easy or heavily guided modpack.

Explore, experiment, get stronger, find strange things, make mistakes and figure out your own way through the world.

Combat

Stamina-based sprinting, making movement and escape more strategic.
Players cannot move while attacking during weapon cooldown.
If a mob or boss kills the player, it fully regenerates its HP.
Lava and drowning are instantly lethal.
Fall damage has been reworked, making high falls significantly more dangerous.
Spawners are unbreakable and unaffected by light, but have cooldowns between waves.

Survival

Hunger has been removed, food heals HP instead.
Beds cannot be crafted or picked up, only naturally generated beds can be used.
Blocks cannot be placed near hostile mobs, similar to vanilla sleep restrictions.
Water and lava buckets cannot create infinite sources, except inside the player's personal dimension.
On death, players keep their inventory, but lose 20% XP and 10% durability on equipped and hotbar items.
Items do not lose durability in the usual way.

Progression

Mobs have colors and stars showing their difficulty compared to the player's current power:

Unlocking achievements grants bonus Max HP, with over 4,000 achievements to pursue.
Every defeated monster unlocks an entry in the Monster Codex, with 1,400+ creatures to discover. Completing entries grants knowledge and loot bonuses.

Equipment & Loot

Weapons can have unique attributes and modifiers, creating a large variety of possible combinations.
Loot from both mobs and chests has been reduced, making valuable finds more meaningful.

Exploration & Structures

Players cannot normally break or place blocks inside naturally generated structures, encouraging different ways of overcoming obstacles instead of simply mining through them.
