Portal Disabler

Prevents Nether and End portals by breaking the portal blocks instantly.

This data pack runs two functions every tick:

• /function disable_portals:disable_nether – removes all nether_portal blocks.
• /function disable_portals:disable_end – removes all end_portal & end_gateway blocks.

Just drop it in your world’s datapacks folder, run /reload and enjoy a portal-free experience.

If needed, run /datapack enable "file/80s Portal Disabler.zip"

 

Having trouble?

Run /reload, then /datapack list , to confirm it’s enabled.

Don't have access to commands (cheats)?

• For Servers: Restart the server.
• For Singleplayer: Save & Quit to the menu, then rejoin the world.

 

How to stop the data pack:

Run /datapack disable "file/80s Portal Disabler.zip"

If you want to hold off on downloading this data pack, in the future, I'll implement a manual way to disable/enable each dimension, rather than disabling all of them simultaneously.

 
Why I made this:

I created this data pack to slow down progression in multiplayer survival worlds. I’ve found that when someone rushes to the Nether or the End, it can split the group too early and turn the game into a race to "beat Minecraft." By disabling portals temporarily, we all get more time to explore, build, and enjoy the early and mid-game together, without feeling like we’re falling behind. When everyone’s ready, the functions can easily be turned off, unlocking those dimensions as a shared milestone.
