NOTE: THIS DATAPACK IS OBSOLETE, AND ITS FEATURES HAVE BEEN SUBSUMED INTO TFC BETTER STONE AGE.
This datapack adds the ability to add tool bindings to TerraFirmaCraft's stone tools. These bindings come in three (really four) tiers:
No binding:
Tools can be crafted without binding in real life, using a process called "hafting", in which the handle is split and the tool head is wedged into the crack and held there with friction.
Since this is less strong than using a binding, a tool crafted without a binding will begin with half its normal durability.
Weak binding:
A tool crafted with a weak binding will have full durability, since the binding reinforces the bond between head and handle. Weak bindings include:
- Straw
- Glue (despite its strength in other areas, glue makes for a terrible tool binding)
- Dead grass groundcover
Medium binding:
Some plants are stronger than grass, and can be used to bind a tool more strongly. Tools crafted with medium binding have the Well Forged trait. Medium bindings include:
- Raw jute
- Ivy
- Hanging and jungle vines
Strong binding:
The strongest bindings are processed materials with extremely high tensile strength. Tools crafted with strong bindings have the Perfectly Forged! trait. Strong bindings include:
- Jute fiber
- String
- Wool yarn
- Anything from another mod that has been tagged as "forge:string"
- Edition: Minecraft Java
- File type: .jar
- Minecraft version listed: 1.20.1
- How to install: Install the matching mod loader (Forge, Fabric or NeoForge) for your Minecraft version. → Download the .jar. → Put it in the .minecraft/mods folder and launch that loader profile.
- Where to get it: Opens on CurseForge — not every file is mirrored on our own servers.
Install steps are the general flow for this file type — see the MC Java Mods guides for the full walkthrough.
