Here is a plugin that lets you create cinematic orbital cameras for whatever you think you could use one for.

DISCLAIMER: This is an early release and needs polish but is in a working state and is usable.

Normal loop preview

If you're wondering, yes, yes you can put in a negative height for a normal loop.

A fast loop in the Nether

A bounce loop in The End

Getting Started:
All you need to do is stand in the center of the area you want to orbit and create a loop.
For example stand on top of a tree and execute /addloop normal loop1 10 5 0.2 then /loop start loop1

Recommendations:
If you are going to record something being built for a timelapse, a speed of 0.2 to 0.5 provide a nice smooth and slow result.

Play with your FOV especially if you are far away from what you're orbiting, set it to 50 or something close and see what you can do.

Either change to spectator mode or make sure you are flying in creative mode for a smoother loop since your character is not fighting gravity.

Permissions:
I am going to change the permissions around, but this is what they are for now.
Commands:
Feel free to test on other versions of Minecraft and let me know if they work.
