The totem must be created with his face to the west and at the last step you need to install a sign, if it does not work - try to install a sign on the other side, and if the totem disappears, then congratulations, you summon Lucas.
If you wanted to get rid of Lucas, you need to build the same totem a 2nd time, and if the totem disappears, Lucas will disappear.
