# MaintenanceAddon ## Using [MiniPlaceholders](https://hangar.papermc.io/MiniPlaceholders/MiniPlaceholders) or PlaceholderAPI with Maintenance If you are running [Maintenance](https://hangar.papermc.io/kennytv/Maintenance) on **Bungee or Velocity**, you can use the addon to be able to use maintenance placeholders on your Paper servers. The addon sends all necessary information from the Velocity/Bungee to the Paper servers that need them. After that, the addon creates the placeholders on those backend servers and they can be used. **If you are running Maintenance on Velocity and want MiniPlaceholders placeholders on Velocity, you can install MaintenanceAddon on Velocity and skip the steps below.** ## Installation Step 0.1: Make sure the [main Maintenance plugin](https://hangar.papermc.io/kennytv/Maintenance) is **on your proxy** (Velocity/Bungee), **_NOT_** on your backend (Paper) servers.\ Step 0.2: Stop your proxy and backend servers you want placeholders on.\ Step 1: Put the **addon jar** into the plugin folder of **both your proxy and the backend servers**.\ Step 2: Start the proxy and backend servers again.\ Step 3: Join and see if it worked with `/papi parse --null %maintenance_status%` (which should change after toggling maintenance globally using `/maintenance `). After the first start with the addon on the proxy, an `addon.yml` file will be created **in the Maintenance plugin directory** (on your proxy). In there, you can change the messages the placeholders should display. ## Placeholders Currently available are: * `%maintenance_status%` to display the maintenance status of your proxy * `%maintenance_server_%` to display the maintenance status of a specific proxied server, where `` should be replaced with the name of the server to check
