This is a mod I made for my own SMP: World of Elarion. It is fairly easy to use and doesn't cause conflicts with most nickname mods.
/playertitle (PlayerName) title
- eg.: /playertitle Panyel News Reporter
/playertitle clear Panyel or /playertitle Panyel clear to delete the title
