Hoe Scythes
Hoe Scythes adds a simple, server-side quality-of-life feature for clearing grass, ferns, and seagrass without replacing vanilla hoes or adding new tools.
When you break a supported grass-like block with a hoe, the mod clears nearby matching blocks in a square area. The clearing radius depends on the hoe material, so better hoes cover more ground by default.
Hoe Tiers
- Wooden Hoe and Stone Hoe: 3x3 area
- Iron Hoe and Golden Hoe: 5x5 area
- Diamond Hoe: 7x7 area
- Netherite Hoe: 9x9 area
Supported Blocks
By default, hoes affect:
- Short grass
- Tall grass
- Ferns
- Large ferns
- Seagrass
- Tall seagrass
Config
Hoe Scythes creates a common config file at config/hoescythes-common.toml.
You can change:
- The radius for each supported hoe type
- The list of block IDs hoes can clear
The default radii preserve the normal areas:
- Radius
1= 3x3 - Radius
2= 5x5 - Radius
3= 7x7 - Radius
4= 9x9
Add blocks to clearableBlocks to support more plants, such as flowers. For example, add minecraft:poppy if you want hoes to clear poppies too.
How It Works
Break a supported block while holding one of the supported hoes in your main hand. The mod clears the surrounding grass-like blocks around the broken block and drops items normally where applicable.
Example
Using a Diamond Hoe on grass clears a 7x7 area centered on the block you broke.
