All Block Variants

Vanilla Minecraft has a lot of missing blocks. For example, minecraft has concrete blocks, and stair blocks, but no concrete stairs. All Block Variants' goal is to fill in all of these missing blocks, with blocks that have ther functionality and appearance as close to vanilla Minecraft as possible.

The goal of this mod is to add "all" the block variants, but currently the mod doesn't support all of them yet; so this mod's name is aspirational rather than the current state. So far, the mod adds 3,759 blocks and 3,232 items.

Warnings

This mod is currently in an "alpha" state. I am using it successfully on a private server with a couple of other people, but I have not exhaustively tested the mod's functionality either on it's own or in combination with other mods. You should make regular backups of any worlds you use this mod with.

This mod adds an item with the same functionality as the Debug Stick, but makes that functionality available in Survival mode. I'm not sure if this functionality makes it easier to grief or not, but to be on the safe side, only used this mod on servers where you can trust all players.

What does this mod do?

For each supported block (see below for a list), this mod adds the following variants:

The mod also adds:

These block variants and dyed blocks follow vanilla functionality and visual design and texture as closely as possible.

Note that even though I am calling these "block variants" the variants are wholly new blocks themselves.

Crafting the block variants and dyed blocks

Mod stick

Because the recipes for some of these variants would conflict with vanilla Minecraft recipies, the recipes for these variants need an extra item in the crafting grid.

This extra item is the All Block Variants Mod Stick, which has the following recipe:

This Mod Stick is not only used in the recipies, but also has the same functionality as the Debug Stick in Vanilla, with the added ability to use the functionality in Survival mode.

Block variants

In general the recipe for each block variant is the normal recipe to create that variant + the mod stick.

For example, the recipe for Blue Concrete Stairs is:

# !
##
###

where # = Blue Concrete, and ! = the Mod Stick

This shaped recipe will produce 4 Blue Concrete Stairs, mirroring the vanilla stairs recipes. The Mod Stick will also remain in the craftin grid for reuse.

You can also place a Blue Concrete in a Stonecutter, and you can select the Blue Concrete Stairs in the recipe grid to produce 1 Blue Concrete Stairs

So the recipe for any block variant is usually the same pattern as that variant + the mod stick. The mod stick goes in the bottom or top based on what makes sense for that recipe.

I will be adding recipe images in the near future to make this easier, as soon as I can generate them efficiently.

Dyed blocks

The recipes for the dyed blocks are:
