Extinguishable torches have been implemented many times — this mod aims to be the simplest, most vanilla-friendly iteration, adding no new items and affecting balance minimally. It's just a little touch I think makes the game seem more complete. Gently encourages experimenting with Minecraft's many new aesthetic lighting options for permanent builds, too!
Torches have a configurable chance to burn out each randomTick. (By default, it's comparable to the time it'd take for a Wheat block to fully grow, but make it as long as you'd like)
Burnt Torches can optionally be reignited with Flint and Steel.
Torches placed underwater will waterlog and be put out instantly.
Naturally-generated Torches will be unaffected to avoid changing the atmosphere of vanilla structures.

Adding compat for modded torches should be pretty easy. Let me know if there are any you'd like support for, and also check out Hardcore Torches, Realistic Torches [Plus], and Totally Lit if they're available for your version!
