One Trident Throw Only

Which build do you need?

This mod ships a separate file for every mod loader and every version of the game. Pick both, then download — the wrong build installs fine and then does nothing in the game.

Mod loader

Minecraft version

⬇ Download for 1.21.10 · Fabric⬇ Download for 1.21.1 · Fabric⬇ Download for 1.21 · Fabric⬇ Download for 1.20.1 · Fabric⬇ Download for 1.20–1.20.6 · Forge
I don't know my version or loader
Open the Minecraft launcher and look at the profile you play on — it names both, like fabric-loader-1.21.4. The version also shows in the bottom-right corner of the game's main menu.
No loader in the profile name? Then it's plain Minecraft, and these mods won't run — you need Fabric or NeoForge installed first.

Improvement of the Drowned mob mechanics in relation to tridents. Drowned which spawn with a trident can throw it only once, but are now able to search for and pick up tridents from the ground (including player tridents)!

Motivation

I hate how Drowned I stumble upon on the sea are able to materialize new tridents out of nowhere and keep throwing them at me. They should get only one shot, which is already enough to cause havoc by destroying my boat with a chest. Ideally, they would want to pick up their thrown tridents to use them again. And that's exactly what this mod does.

Features

The mod is currently marked as beta, because it doesn't implement all the features I have planned. It should however be usable already. Here is the current progress:

🟢 Drowned can throw the held trident only once.
🟢 Drowned look around for thrown tridents and pick them up if they're within reach.
🟢 Item properties of a trident stolen from a player are preserved.
⭕ [planned] Support for NeoForge, Forge and Sponge loaders.
⭕ [planned] Trident searching/pickup mechanics are configurable and can be enabled or disabled.
🟢 Tridents thrown by Drowned lose durability.

Quick facts

Install steps are the general flow for this file type — How to install Minecraft Java mods & modpacks walks through it step by step.
