Guard Villagers Mod (26.2, 1.20.1) – Build Your Village an Army

Guard Villagers Mod adds new protectors to your villages. When an Iron Golem isn’t fast enough to stop an attack, this mod introduces Guards to help defend villagers from all threats. It also changes the behavior of several other mobs, making village life more dynamic.

Features:

The Guards

• New Guard mobs spawn in villages in groups of six, armed with iron swords or crossbows.
• They protect the village from any hostile mob, and will even attack you if you harm a villager.
• You can open a guard’s inventory to give them better armor, weapons, and a shield.
• Give them food or potions, and they will use them to heal when their health is low.
• If you have the “Hero of the Village” effect, guards will follow and fight alongside you.

AI and Villager Changes

• Witches are now hostile towards villagers and will attack them.
• During raids, Illagers will attack any nearby animals, not just villagers.
• Villagers and Illagers are now afraid of Polar Bears and will run away from them.
• Clerics will use regeneration potions to heal hurt guards, villagers, and players with the “Hero of the Village” effect.
• Blacksmiths can repair Iron Golems and the gear of guards.
• Iron Golems can now float, preventing them from getting stuck in water.

How to Use:

1. To create a new guard, find a nitwit or an unemployed villager.
2. Hold a sword or a crossbow in your hand, then crouch (press Shift) and right-click on the villager.
3. Right-click a guard to open their inventory. Here you can give them armor, change their weapon, or give them a shield or food for their off-hand.
4. If you have the “Hero of the Village” effect, you can right-click a guard with an empty hand to make them follow you.

Configuration:

• Many features in this mod can be enabled or disabled through the configuration file.
• For example, you can turn off the guards’ ability to patrol if you want to improve performance.
