This mod aims to add a nice GUI interface to minecraft for chess logic. In the past I've tried many chess mods that all have similar issues like no castling, no en passant, the king and queen being in the wrong spots, the list goes on. I'm very passionate about chess and I will try as hard as I can to make sure you have NONE of these issues with this mod. This uses a very popular and well written java chess library called "chesslib" by "bhlangonijr" for all move generation and logic.
Currently there's just one block in the mod called "Chess Board" that you can place down and interact with to open the GUI. It randomly selects you to be either black/white and you can't make moves for the other side so for now you're not able to play by yourself, this means you need to have friends to use this mod. I am planning on integrating a basic chess engine in the future but I would like to polish the mechanics as much as possible first.
Development on this project will be slower than my others because this is not my main focus at the moment.
