The Basics
DragonVale Dragons as Items is a pack that incorporates elements from the 2011 mobile game DragonVale. The game involves breeding and collecting hundreds of unique breeds of dragons and curating them in your magical park. This pack is fan work, not officially affiliated with DECA Games or Backflip Studios.
Approach
This pack aims to incorporate a large number of elements from the DragonVale game while preserving the vanilla feel of the game in many ways. Retexuring of blocks has been largely avoided to ensure that pretty vanilla terrain and structures are not excessively uglified or cluttered by the pack. All retextured items retain their vanilla item names.
Many of the dragons from DragonVale share a name with a Minecraft item and were matched for this reason - Sand, Coal, Cactus, Shield etc. Creative liberties were taken with other dragon-item pairs with no obvious match, with the goal of trying to find dragons and items with similar roles or themes in both games.
Use
This pack was designed in 1.21.4, and has not been thoroughly tested in other versions outside vanilla 1.21. Based on some simple testing, it appears to work well for versions 1.13 and up.
