Every year I kept searching for any simple way to revert these chests back to vanilla that didn't include "Just deal with it" or changing the system date.
Behold, a simple resource pack to do just that. It should be backwards compatible with prior versions, but don't quote me on it. (If you try, and it doesn't work, let me know your version.)
