GeoFurnace

GeoFurnace is a simple mechanics-altering plugin that allows for geothermal furnaces in Minecraft!

There are no commands or permissions required. Just place down a furnace (or find an existing one), put a bucket of lava beneath it, and get smelting! The furnace will never run out of power so long as the lava is beneath it, providing it heat.

No installation or configuration required. The plugin works straight out of the box!

Update: The plugin now uses a permission node for players to use the geofurnace. This node is geofurnace.use. Without this node, players can still interact with a running geofurnace, but they cannot activate one by placing an item in it. Once activated, a geofurnace will continue to burn until it runs out of items to cook, but it will not reactivate for anybody but players with the permission node. You can now control who uses geofurnaces on your server!

Update #2: The plugin now has two additional config options to allow for fire and lava placed beside furnaces as well as under it! ( @Cynical_Soul ;) )

Update #3: Using infinite lava buckets in the furnace is also an additional config option now, if enabled it will allow for lava buckets placed in furnaces to never be exhausted and act as a permanent fuel source ( @SlimeDog ;) )

Please check the default config for these values, or if you already use the plugin and don't feel like regenerating it, here is an example (default) config below (please note that 1.14-specific values won't have any effect on pre-1.14 servers):

=--------------------------------------------------------------=

enableFireForFurnaces: false
enableLavaForFurnaces: true
enableSideLavaForFurnaces: false
enableSideFireForFurnaces: false
enableInfiniteLavaBucket: false

enableFireForBlastFurnaces: false
enableLavaForBlastFurnaces: true
enableSideLavaForBlastFurnaces: false
enableSideFireForBlastFurnaces: false
enableInfiniteLavaBucketBlast: false

enableSmokeParticle: true

The inspiration for this plugin was my personal annoyance at the way lava was used in vanilla Minecraft to power furnaces. You could fuel the furnace up for a long time, but you couldn't use this lava for small batches, and this meant that you were forced to burn a bucket of lava for every time you wanted to smelt anything, regardless of size. This didn't seem right to me, so I created GeoFurnace to allow lava to be used as an infinite power source for Minecraft furnaces.

While this plugin does remove much of the need for fuel to power furnaces, there are limitations, such as the inability to make large walls of furnaces (you can't place lava under a furnace if there's already another one there!), meaning that furnace room design would have to be changed in order to make use of a completely fuel-free design.

If you'd prefer a more freeform design, the ability to have side-powered furnaces is for you, allowing a more traditional wall-style smelting room using lava behind the furnaces. The choice is yours!
