Dont Break crops that are not grown yet
Prevents accidental breaks on unripe crops, so you dont have to worry again breaking weets that are not fully grown. Sneak to still remove misplaced seeds.
⬇ Download on ModrinthCropGuard stops you from accidentally destroying crops that haven't finished growing. All vanilla crops are protected — only fully grown plants can be broken. Need to remove a misplaced seed? Just sneak while breaking, and the seed will drop as usual.
📦 Installation
- Install the correct mod loader (Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge) for your Minecraft version.
- Place
CropGuard-<version>.jarinto your.minecraft/modsfolder. - (Server owners) The mod must be installed on the server; clients may install it to remove the brief ghost-break animation, but it's not required.
This mod is server‑side required, client‑side optional.
✨ Features
- Full‑growth only – Cancels player block breaks on any crop that isn't at its maximum growth stage (wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot, torchflower, pitcher plant, nether wart, sweet berry bushes).
- Sneak‑to‑bypass – Holding the sneak key (Shift) lets you break unripe crops normally — perfect for removing misplanted seeds or reorganising your farm.
- No configuration needed – Works out of the box. The sneak behaviour is hard‑coded and always available.
- Lightweight and transparent – Handled entirely in the block‑break event; zero tick overhead when you're not breaking crops.
- Broad version support – Runs on Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge across 7 Minecraft version/loader combinations (1.12.2 through 1.21.1, plus 1.21.11 and 26.1.2 Fabric).
🧩 Compatibility

Known incompatibilities: None. Works alongside all popular performance and content mods.
Modded crops: Any crop extending CropBlock (or BlockCrops on 1.12.2) is automatically protected.
❓ FAQ
Do I need this on the client?
No — the server enforces the protection. Installing it on the client is optional and only removes the brief ghost-break visual when you try to break an unripe crop.
How do I remove a crop I planted by accident?
Crouch (sneak) and then break it. The mod respects the sneak key and lets you break any crop regardless of growth.
Does this change vanilla mechanics?
No. Fully grown crops break and drop exactly as they do in vanilla. The only change is that unripe crops cannot be broken unless you're sneaking.
Is there a config or toggle?
No configuration file. The behaviour is simple and deliberate — sneak to override, otherwise only fully grown crops break.
Will it work with custom crops from other mods?
If a modded crop extends the vanilla CropBlock class, it will be protected automatically. Non‑standard crops may not be covered, but the majority of farming mods use the standard class.
