🪐 Orbit-Shader A deferred rendering shaderpack for Minecraft Java Edition 1.21+, built for the Iris and Sodium ecosystem on Fabric. Orbit-Shader provides a cinematic visual experience through a modern deferred pipeline, with granular in-game settings to scale performance from integrated graphics to high-end GPUs.
✨ Features Physically Based Rendering (PBR) Supports standard PBR resource packs using a GGX BRDF lighting model. Metallic blocks reflect light sharply; rough surfaces scatter it naturally. Requires a PBR-compatible resource pack to take effect. Screen Space Reflections (SSR) Water and rain puddles dynamically reflect surrounding geometry and the sky. Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO) Adds soft contact shadows in corners, crevices, and dense foliage for a grounded sense of depth. Filtered Shadow Mapping PCF (Percentage-Closer Filtering) with shadow map distortion produces cleaner shadows near the player that fade smoothly at distance. Volumetric God Rays Raymarched volumetric lighting lets sunbeams and moonlight pierce through tree canopies and archways. Weather Puddles Rain generates procedural puddles on upward-facing surfaces, adjusting surface roughness and integrating with SSR. Foliage & Water Animation Vertex displacement animates grass, leaves, and water surfaces on the GPU. HDR & ACES Tonemapping Renders internally in HDR and compresses to SDR using the ACES Filmic tonemapper. Bloom Isolates bright light sources (torches, lava, the sun) with a screen-space bloom pass. FXAA Anti-Aliasing Smooths jagged edges on blocks and foliage at low performance cost.
⚙️ Quality Presets Accessible via the Iris settings menu (press O in-game):
🟢 Low — Disables PBR, SSR, SSAO, and FXAA. Suitable for integrated graphics. 🟡 Medium — Enables bloom and anti-aliasing; keeps heavy effects off. 🟠 High — Full deferred pipeline at standard sampling rates. 🔴 Ultra — Maximum volumetric steps, shadow intensity, and bloom for high-end GPUs.
Individual sliders for shadow strength, fog density, bloom intensity, contrast, and wind speed are also available.
🛠️ Requirements & Installation Required mods:
Fabric Loader (1.21+) Sodium (latest) Iris Shaders (latest)
Installation:
Download Orbit-Shader.zip Place it in .minecraft/shaderpacks/ In-game: Video Settings → Shader Packs → select Orbit-Shader
To use PBR features, load a PBR-compatible resource pack alongside the shader.
- Edition: Minecraft Java
- File type: .zip (resource pack)
- Minecraft versions listed: 1.20, 1.20.1, 1.20.2
- How to install: Download the .zip resource pack — do not unzip it. → Put it in .minecraft/resourcepacks. → Enable it in Options → Resource Packs.
- Where to get it: Opens on Modrinth — not every file is mirrored on our own servers.
Install steps are the general flow for this file type — see the MC Java Mods guides for the full walkthrough.
