Welcome to Dracion: Dragons Rising! You know 'em, you love 'em, it's dragons! This mod adds the original 15 dragons from the old java mod Dragon Mounts along with a few extra features and additions not found in other mods.

Credits

There are many key differences between this mod and the original, mainly in the form of most blocks, all of the items the structures, and what one can do with the dragons, but the taming system is relatively the same.

Items

There are many items added by this mod some directly connected to dragons, some less so. We'll go by catergory

Equipment

Dragon Scale Armor

Dragon scale armor provide numerous benefits to the player. Being better than netherite in some cases. Now for each dragon type the stats of the armor is the exact same, but each set has a different full-set effect that you are granted when wearing it (Shields are not required for a full set).

All armor pieces are crafted the same way default armor is, but shields have their own crafting recipe

Dragon Armor

This armor is specifically for your dragons to wear. These all can be enchanted and are trimmable

There are two ways to craft dragon armor, one with the pure materials, the other by using a horse armor of the same type as a base to reduce cost (except netherite as you just upgrade the diamond armor in a smithing table).

Diamond Shears

Diamond shears are a unique item that allows you to shear a tamed dragon for thier scales instead of needing to slay the dragon to collect them. They are crafted much like regular shears, but with diamonds instead

Dragon Horns

Dragon horns are probably one of, if not the, most useful items in the mod for dragons. These allow you to grab a dragon and put them inside of the horn to store them. They have quite the expensive recipe, but due to their usefulness it is worth it

Recipe

Item Sprite

In order to pickup a tamed dragon, simply shift and interact while holding the Dragon Horn in your hand to place the dragon inside it. Once a dragon has been collected, the horn will change. It will have an enchanted glint, and show information related to the dragon inside. In order to release a dragon, simply use the item on a block and the dragon will be released on the block you are looking at.

Information:

In order the screen shows

  • The dragon's name replaces the item name
  • Dragon: the dragon's name again
  • Gender: the dragon's gender
  • Type: the type of dragon species (and if it is variant)
  • Health: how much health the dragon currently has
  • Owner: the player who tamed that dragon inside (or who picked up the dragon if it is untamed)

Items

Dragon Amulets

These items are hard to obtain but provide quite strong benefits as they give the wearer the same affect as wearing a full set of the some type of armor. These can also be put on dragons to give them the affect of the armor set. When you first craft one it will be an Empty Dragon Amulet.

Drop of Youth

This is a relatively rare item as it can only be obtained from the fountain of youth block found in opcean structures. This item works almost the exact same as the golden dandelion but for baby dragons instead. However, it cannot be undone. once a dragon is permantly a baby, it is forever a baby.

Stats

  • Uses: unlimited

Nature

Speed Sap

This is a very rare item as it currently can only be found insde of Grand Ice Dragon Nests (more info far below). This item gives the player a speed boost, but only while being chewed on. If consumed, the speed boost ends.

Dragon Meats

Dragon meat are dropped by dragons when killed. There is both raw and cooked versions, both providing a substantial food source.

Raw Dragon Meat

Cooked Dragon Meat

Stats

  • Eating Time: 1.5 seconds
  • Hunger: 15

Dragon Scales

Dragon scales are probably the core of the items of this mod. They are dropped from dragons on death and from tamed dragons when sheared.

Scales can be compacted into blocks (info below), but are mainly to be used as a crafting component for armor, tools, and more.

Blocks

There are a number of blocks in this mod. Some useful, some decorative. We'll go by category.

Construction

Dragon Heads

These are decorative blocks that work almost exactly like the vanilla dragon head except you can't put it on or make it move its mouth. They are obtained by slaying a dragon with a Great Axe (info above). There are male and female versions for every dragon.

Gilded Glowstone

A rare block found only in Grand Moonlight Dragon Nests (info far below). They create an area in which players will recive slow falling, essentailly a low-gravity area.

Sun Glass

Another rare block that is found in Grand Sunlight Dragon Nests (info far below). It responds to nearby light, changing its transparency to be less as light grows, eventually losing physical form at max light allowing players and mobs to walk through it.

Gilded Bone Block

A rare block found only in Treasure Grand Wither Dragon Nests (info far below). These drop both a bone block and some gold nuggets when broken unless silk-touched.

Gold Pile

A rare block found in all Grand Dragon Nests (info far below). These drop gold ingots when mined, the amount directly connected to the height of the pile unless silk-touched. The hieght is measured in pixels, so for every pixzel up, there is a gold ingot in the pile. They can be raised by adding gold ingots.

Diamond Pile

A rare block that can replace gold piles inside of Treasure Grand Dragon Nests (info far below). Instead of gold, these drop diamonds when dropped. Leading to much greater amounts of wealth.

Dragon Core

A very powerful craftable block. Using this block you can take Dragon Essence (info below) found in Grand Dragon Nests (info far below) and plece them inside. Interacting with any dragon egg will cause that egg to transform into the same type of egg as the essence inside. (e.g. a fire egg used on a Dragon Core with Ender Dragon Essence will become an ender egg).

Nature

Cracked Basalt

A rare block found only in Grand Fire Dragon Nests (info far below). They emit smoke particles every second to 1.25 seconds or so.

Gilded Tree Set

These rare blocks are found only in the rare Treasure Grand Forest Dragon Nests (info far below). They work the same as Gilded Bone Blocks (info above), dropping their non-gilded counterparts and a few gold nuggets unless silk-touched.

Dragon Scales Blocks

These blocks serve as storage blocks for when one has too many scales in storage. They are crafted much like any other storage block. When mined they will drop nine of their repspective scales or can be uncrafted to extract the scales.

Rainbow Scales Block

This block is like the regular dragon scales block, but it is slightly different. it can be crafted by any combination of nine scales, and when mined it will drop 1-9 of any type of dragon scales.

Recipe

Dragon Eggs

Probably the most important blocks in the whole mod. With these you can hatch a dragon and make it your own to survive with. They are found in every dragon nest, with extra ones in Grand Dragon Nests. Upon placing, interact with the block to turn it into a hatching dragon egg. It will take twenty-one minutes for the egg to fully hatch, and in the last minute it will begin shaking and you will hear cracking sounds.

Bone Pile

This is a rare block found inside Grand Skeleton Dragon Nests (info far below). They drop 1-5 bones upon breaking unless silk-touched

Sandstorm Emitter

This is another rare block found inside Grand Sunlight Dragon Nests (info far below). They emit a alrge amount of sand particles from the top that bouce around any room they're in, making players feel as if they are in a sandstorm.

Soul Trap

This is a rare block found inside Grand Wither Dragon Nests (info far below). When stepped on they emit particles and damage the creature above them. They are also animated

Lava Fountain

These are rare blocks found in Grand Nether Dragon Nests (info far below). They create a lava source block infront of the glowing face in any direction.

Fountain of Youth

An uncommon block found in Foutain of Youth (info far below) structures that spawn around. Interact with the block in order to collect a Drop of Youth (info above).

Void Blocks

These are rare blocks that can be found in Grand Enchant Dragon Nests (info far below). They are manifestations of the void and can damage the player like powdered snow.

Void Puddle

Damage time: 20 ticks (1 second)

Void Pool

Damage time: 10 ticks (1/2 a second)

Dragon Essences

These are very rare blocks found inside Grand Dragon Nests (info far below). Each Grand Dragon Nest only contains a single Dragon Essence. These are used in conjunction with Dragon Cores (info above) to convert dragon eggs (info above) into other kinds of dragon eggs. Thankfully, they are able to be converted into other kinds, or even duplicated, but it is very costly to do so.

Recipes

convert (aether into enchant, but any combination works)

duplicate (duplicate aether, but any works)

Entities

There are only one group of entites added in this mod, the dragons! There are fifteen types of dragons

Each has some uniqueness and spawns differently

Core Dragon Mechanics

Though each dragon has some specialty, there are some standard core mechanics that each follow, so unless specified different, these are the stats and facts of a dragon:

Female

Male

Size:

  • Length: 9 blocks
  • Width: 3 blocks
  • Height: 3 blocks
  • Collision Box: 1.5 x 2.4 blocks (diameter x height)

Stats:

  • Health: 65
  • Damage:
    • Untamed: 5
    • Tamed: 10
  •  Speed:
    • Air: 20 meters per second (mps)
    • Ground: 6 mps
  • Breath Weapon: Fire
  • Tame item: Raw salmon
  • Growth item: Raw cod
  • Healable: Any meat

Wild dragons are automatically hostile to players, and have a very strong sense of smell and sound, so they can detect even when not in sight. They will switch between flying above and attacking on the ground, so bring both melee and ranged attacks.

Tamed dragons have a few standard mechanics:

  • They can be ridden, and holding the jump button while riding will make the dragon start flying.
  • During night time dragons will go to sleep unless sitting down (unless they're nocturnal in which they'll go to sleep during the day)
  • Using a dragon whistle wil cause the dragon to use its breath weapon.
  • Dragons have the ability to smelt down a few materials: raw iron, raw gold, raw copper, and ancient debris. There is a 1 minute 40 seconds long cooldown
  • Using diamond shears will shear off a few scales from the dragon. There is a ten minute cooldown.
  • Using an Empty Dragon Amulet on a dragon will infuse it with its power.
  • Using a stick on a dragon will toggle wandering mode, they will stay within 64 blocks of the initial spot.
  • Dragons will drop 7-15 scales and 5-7 raw dragon meat.
  • Dragons will hunt sheep when given the chance.
  • It takes 20 minutes for a dragon to fully grow up.

Tamed dragons riding screen looks like this:

To the left, there are four slots in order:

  • Saddle, for the saddle to control the dragon
  • Armor, to protect the dragon
  • Chest, for the dragon to carry your things
  • Amulet, to add a special buff to the dragon

Aether Dragons

The dragons of the sky. They soar high above the world and are the fastest dragons in the air. Difficult to obtain, but very much worth the effort in the end.

Size Changes:

  • Height: 2 blocks
  • Width: 2 blocks

Stat Changes:

  • Speed
    • Air: 36 mps

Full Armor Set Effect: Jump Boost V

Nest

Generation:

  • Biomes: Warm Oceans
  • Height: 64 blocks above the ocean surface

Hunter's Note: An incredible pain to deal with. These dragons fly fast and dip low, even striking me when I was underwater! The nest provides quite a nice amount of quartz though.

Tamer's Note: These dragons are very well behaved and have proved quite useful for the scouts.

Enchant Dragons

An rare species that hides amoung the floating islands in the end. They build thier nests from deconstructed end cities, and fill them with shulkers that spawned in the area.

Stat Changes

  • Breath Weapon: Explosive Fire

Full armor set effect: Health Boost V

Nest

Generation

  • Biomes: The End
  • Height: y=192 - y=0

Hunter's Note: Strange species. Their four wings provide them extra lift, yet they seem to love nearing the void. Their breath weapon is especially dangerous, I'm always careful near them.

Tamer's note: A very hard to find species. Sometimes thier nests are nearby others, sometimes they're just floating in the void. These are still very powerful dragons, so be careful while caring to not blow anything up.

Ender Dragons

An endangered species. The last wild one is located on the center of the end island. They are very useful creatures for flying throughout the end as it is their home. They have no known nest to be found.

Stat Changes

  • Breath Weapon: Ender Breath

Full Armor Set Effect: Void Repulsion

Hunter's Note: Ah Ender Dragons. These species fetch a good price when sold to others. Even just a head is quite pricy. Too bad they're so rare though. They seem to hide from us hunters

Tamer's Note: Ender Dragons. Poor things. They've been hunted to nearly extinction. The scales that we do find though we try to use. It seems they repel the void, and when put enough together, they create so much force it pushes one upwards, saving them from certain doom.

Fire Dragons

The largest of all dragon species. They live high up in mountains and soar with strength. These species have the largest wing to body ratio of any other species.

Size Changes

  • Width: 9 blocks
  • Height: 6 blocks

Full Armor Set Effect: Fire Resistance V

Nest

Generation

  • Biomes: Mountains
  • Height: Surface

Hunter's Note: Ah the Fire Dragon. A great challenge to take. Withthe altitude and their prowess of fire, it is not an easy fight. Their nest does along with them contain great jewels and metals to loot

Tamer's Note: Fire Dragons are quite entertaining to raise. With their heat and their large wings, it takes a special environment to raise one right.

Forest Dragons

Forest dragons, beings adept to surviving in a wooded land. This species hides amoung the trees and sometimes even pretends to be some themselves.

Stat Changes:

  • Breath Weapon: Poison Breath

Full Armor Set Effect: Saturation V

Nest

Generation

  • Biomes: Any non-frozen forest
  • Height: Surface

Hunter's Note: Forest Dragons. They're a pain to deal with. Their nests are so well hidden, I almost never find them, and when I do, it's a surprise.

Tamer's Note: Forest Dragons are an interesting species. They are the only ones to have learned to stand on their hind legs only, instead of all of their legs. Their poison breath can be quite harsh to newcomers when raising them, so be careful.

Ice Dragons

The wrath of powdered snow but into draconic form. These dragons hide perfectly with the snow, their ice spikes being the only hint of their presence. They will slow any soul that comes close.

Stat Changes

  • Breath Weapon: Ice breath

Full Armor Set Effect: Speed V

Nest

Generation:

  • Biomes: Any frozen or snowy biome
  • Height: Surface or sea-level in ocean biomes

Hunter's Note: These darn Ice Dragons, they surprise attack me when I'm travelling the snow plains, and then leave in an instant. They have frozen my supplies several times before.

Tamer's Note: Ice Dragons. They spend lots of time in the coldest of biomes, and even sleep in the snow. These dragons are ones to be very careful around. They do however provide quite strong transport as they are immune to falling into powered snow.

Moonlight Dragons

Dragons of the cold seas. They thrive in the low light of the moon, watching the tides as they fly. These dragons like to hover high, but not too far from the water

Size Changes

  • Length: 10 blocks

Stat Changes

  • Breath Weapon: Acid

Full Armor Set Effect: Regeneration

Nest

Generation

  • Biomes: Cold Oceans
  • Height: 64 blocks above sea level

Hunter's Note: These Moonlight Dragons are something. They are some of the most beautifil in the eyes of buyers, so they provide a good income. They have a strange leviation essence that causes things to float that they stay close to for long enough.

Tamer's Note: Moonlight Dragons are a nocturnal species. Well, unless they're wild. Wild ones have such a messed up sleep cycle that they struggle to sleep at times.

Nether Dragons

Dragons of the heated, and firey place known as the Nether. They live upon towers built from nether fortresses they have raided. They like to collect spawners and fill their tower with them.

Stat changes:

  • Breath Weapon: Nether breath

Full Armor Set Effect: Fire Resistance V, and Jump Boost II while in the Nether

Nest

Generation

  • Biomes: Nether Wastes and Lava Lakes
  • Height: Lava Lake surface level

Hunter's Note: Nether Dragons are... lords. They destroy and attack so many of the other species, they seem to hunt only for fun. Taking one down is usually the highest dream for a hunter who enters the nether.

Tamer's Note: Nether Dragons are quite difficult. They burn extraordinarily hot, and are very aggressive. Though, if one is successful in raising one, they are very useful as they can survive the heat of lava and fire.

Skeleton Dragons

Undead creatures whose souls have refused to move on. Skeleton Dragons are an unusual species and can be quite difficult to find when exploring.

Stat Changes

  • Breath Weapon: Acid
  • Tame Item: Dragon eggs

Full Armor Set Effect: Haste III

Nest

Generation:

  • Biomes: Overworld biomes
  • Height: 30-60 blocks below the surface

Hunter's Note: Ah Skeleton Dragons. Both a wish and a regret of many. They present a second chance. A being once felled now again able to be slain. Strangely though, the shavings of their bones act like scales.

Tamer's Note: The Skeleton Dragon. A poor soul who lost their life and is now living a new one. It is of our best hopes to make its new life better than its old one, so it may one day rest in peace. I've heard a rumor that possibly some could be so old they've turned to fossils!

Storm Dragons

Thunder and lightning! Storm dragons follow the path of electric destruction. They can also be created by lightning striking a Water Dragon (info below). They are very rare dragons.

Stat Changes

  • Breath Weapon: Hydro

Full Armor Set Effect: Haste III

Hunter's Note: Storm Dragons, terrifying weather paired with terrifying power. Not many hunters even dare to try to hunt them. It is a job reserved usually for the strongest hunters.

Tamer's Note: The terrifying Storm Dragon. These creatures are not for the weak of heart to care for. They can shock you and scare you. It is also scary for them if they get turned from being a Water Dragon.

Sunlight Dragons

Bright and sunny. These dragons live for the heat of the sun. They race across sands or sunbathe inside of their modified pyramids.

Full Armor Set Effect: Strength V

Nest

Generation

  • Biomes: Desert
  • Height: Surface

Hunter's Note: Burn baby burn. These Sunlight Dragons love to set you on fire. Locating them isn't too hard as they are quite bright, but hunting them is a whole other question.

Tamer's Note: Sunlight Dragons are wonderful! They're bright and lazy. Most people say they're the easiest dragon to raise. The only downside is sometimes they burn too bright.

Earth (Terra) Dragons

Rocky and sturdy, Earth Dragons stand as powerful, slow beasts. They have the smallest wings of any other dragon and move quite slowly as well.

Size Changes:

  • Height: 2 blocks
  • Width: 2 blocks

Stats Changes:

  • Effects: Resistance
  • Speed
    • Air: 16 bps
    • Land: 4 bps

Full Armor Set Effect: Resistance V

Nest

Generation:

  • Biomes: Mesas
  • Height: Surface

Hunter's Note: Terra Dragons. These creatures are something. The strongest scales of any, they also are the slowest. It takes nearly double the time from a normal hunt to take one of these down.

Tamer's Note: Earth Dragons are so slow. But that makes them very easy to handle. Unless you want to move it. These dragons makes excellent escorts when moving through dangerous territory.

Water Dragons

Whether in the swamp or a coral reef, water dragons swim. They are fastest in the water, and can breathe easily under the waves.

Stat Changes:

  • Speed
    • Water: 14 bps
  • Breath Weapon: Hydro

Full Armor Set Effect: Water Breathing V

Nest

Generation:

  • Biomes: Swamp or Coral Reefs
  • Height: Surface or seafloor

Hunter's Note: Water Dragons. Slimy serpents that slip around as you attack. These ones are difficukt to locate and hunt, but their heads and scales are in very high demand.

Tamer's Note: Oh Water Dragons. This species is quite fun to raise. They love swimming around in lakes and the ocean, but be careful as they expect you to have just as much breath as them. These dragons seem extremly aggressive towards Elder Guardians. I wonder what would happen if I let them kill one?

Wither Dragons

A species of ash and bone. Dragon souls lost in the black sands of a Soul Sand Valley. They are very dangerous and quite rare

Stat Changes

  • Breath Weapon: Wither

Full Armor Set Effect: Regeneration

Nest

Generation

  • Biomes: Soul Sand Valleys
  • Height: Between 0 - 18 blocks above lava level

Hunter's Note: Wither Dragons are quite a rare find. This species is a dream for many as it is a chance to hunt a dragon that has fallen so deep and kill it a second time.

Tamer's Note: This poor species of Wither Dragons. They live in almost eternal pain while in the nether being laced in burnable ash. Thankfully you can take them out and raise them with a better life.

Zombie Dragons

Hunters and tamers risen once again. Zombie dragons rarely spawn in the night with a zombie rider. They are incredibly dangerous as they spawn both on the surface and underground.

Stat Changes

  • Breath Weapon: Acid

Full Armor Set Effect: Night Vision V

Hunter's Note: I fear the day I come across a Zombie Dragon. These are fallen friends and competetors who chose to ride the beast they took. They present both a physical and mental danger to us.

Tamer's Note: The Zombie Dragon is a species we both wish to never find and hope to find soon. There is a belief that if we take their essence, we could raise them to be friendly and live a happy life again.

Structures

Other than regular dragon nests there are three other structures.

Fountains of Youth

These structure contain a Fountain of Youth block (info far above) that provides the Drop of Youth (info far above).

Generation:

  • Biomes: Oceans
  • Height: Sea level

Hunter Houses

These are very useful and not too uncommon structures that give the player some good starting resources and provide a map to a dragon nest. There are nine different houses. Each one is specific to the same biome type as the nest it points to.

Generation

  • Biomes: Overworld, but not oceans.
  • Height: Surface

Grand Dragon Nests

These are special rare structures. They provide large amounts of loot and rare blocks. They always contain a dragon pair, eggs, and an essence. Sometimes even more rarely one can find a treasure variant. They will look like larger versions of the normal dragon's nest.

There are Grand Dragon Nests for every kind of dragon except zombie and storm.

(Pictures are in the gallery)

Generation

  • Replaces normal nests.
