Terralith × ButterBee: Biome Bridge

An unofficial compatibility data pack for Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11, Terralith 2.6.0, and ButterBee 1.0.4.

This data pack extends ButterBee’s existing biome tags with suitable Terralith biomes. Existing Vanilla and CliffTree biome entries remain intact because all tag files use "replace": false.

The bridge does not add new entities and does not modify animal spawn rates. It only determines which ButterBee visual variant may be selected when an applicable animal naturally spawns inside a tagged biome.

Requirements

• Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11
• Terralith 2.6.0
• ButterBee 1.0.4
• ButterBee Resources when using the ButterBee data pack edition

CliffTree is optional as of ButterBee 1.0.4.

When using the Fabric mod edition of Terralith 2.6.0, install Lithostitched as required by Terralith.

Variant Distribution

Chickens

• Frosty — snowy forests, Siberian taiga, and wintry lowlands.
• Marsh — Orchid Swamp, Ice Marsh, and Warm River.
• Mesa — canyon, mesa, and badlands biomes.
• Pine — taiga, coniferous highlands, and Yosemite forests.
• Roofed — dark lavender and moonlit forests.
• Tropical — rainforests, jungles, and oases.
• Nether — unchanged, as Terralith is an Overworld world-generation project.

Cows

• Bush — shrublands, brushlands, steppes, and dry highlands.
• Chalky — white cliffs, birch taiga, and Yosemite biomes.
• Chilly — cold and temperate highlands.
• Damp — humid jungles, rainforests, swamps, and lush valleys.
• Frigid — Dark and Light — glacial, frozen, and snow-covered biomes.
• Soot — Normal and Alt — volcanic regions, calderas, and Ashen Savanna.
• Temperate Alt — unchanged; remains a general-purpose ButterBee variant.

Frogs

• Toadstool — Fungal Caves, Amethyst Rainforest, and Moonlight Grove.

Pigs

• Bog — the marshy Orchid Swamp and Ice Marsh biomes.
• Dry — deserts, savannas, canyons, and badlands.
• Field — flowering plateaus, valleys, clearings, and steppes.
• Grove — Sakura, moonlit, alpine, and Siberian groves.
• Mire — swamps and Warm River.

Wolves

• Charcoal — Siberian and snow-covered forests.
• Cloaked — red mountains, mesas, and badlands.
• Shaggy — shrublands, brushlands, and steppes.

Installation

1. Download and install Terralith 2.6.0 and ButterBee 1.0.4.

2. Install ButterBee Resources when using ButterBee as a data pack.

3. Copy the Terralith_ButterBee_Biome_Bridge folder or ZIP archive into:

   <world>/datapacks/
   

4. Restart the server or run:

   /reload
   

5. Confirm that the bridge has loaded by running:

   /datapack list
   

The bridge should preferably have a higher loading priority than the original mod-provided data. On a standard Fabric server, world-specific data packs will usually receive suitable priority automatically.

Because every modified biome tag uses "replace": false, existing Vanilla, ButterBee, and CliffTree tag entries are merged rather than overwritten.

Terralith

Terralith is created by Stardust Labs and distributed under the custom Stardust Labs License.

The Stardust Labs License explicitly permits compatibility add-ons between Stardust Labs projects and other data packs. This bridge does not include, redistribute, or copy Terralith code, assets, textures, structures, or other project files. It references only Terralith biome identifiers required for compatibility.

Terralith must be downloaded separately from its official distribution page.

ButterBee

ButterBee — Mob Variants is created by Konci and is distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

The original ButterBee project also credits Evergreene for texture work on several variants.

This bridge builds upon ButterBee’s biome-tag system by adding Terralith biome identifiers to 21 existing ButterBee variant tags. No ButterBee textures, models, functions, entities, or complete original files are included in this project.

No original Terralith or ButterBee project files have been modified or redistributed.
