Nocturnal Lights
Java mod listed for Minecraft 1.14. Downloads from the MC Java Mods app on Android.
⬇ Download on SpigotDescription
This plugin will allow users to control lightable blocks (currently only redstone lamps supported) with Daylight Sensors without the need to power them.
I was inspired to develop this plugin by Streetlights Advanced which can be found here:
https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/streetlights-advanced.18678/
Unfortunetely the owner of that plugin hasn't been around for more than 1.5 years and it no longer works in the latest Minecraft versions. This plugin is a fresh attempt at providing the same (and more) functionality.
Status
This is the Beta Release! It means many of its intended functionalities aren't implemented yet. However, I'm working on this on a near daily basis so you can expect regular updates. Feel free to join my Discord listed below to be kept up-to-date on progress.
Warning: Do NOT use this plugin on live servers yet! It should not cause any harm (except maybe some lag increase) to your server(s), but any updates released will most likely not be compatible with the current database. Meaning that you'll have to delete this plugin's folder when updating and therefor all your users will lose their configured daylight sensors and lamps.
How it works
Users can place down a Daylight sensor. They will immediately become the owner of it, but it's not registered to the plugin yet.
Right click the daylight sensor with an empty bowl to register it. After this, right click any redsone lamp with the empty bowl to link it to the daylight sensor. The lamps will automaticly turn on if the light level of the sensor is 7 or lower or off if it's higher (this will become configurable later on).
Users can have multiple daylight sensors and each of them can have their own lamps linked to them. Just repeat the process above with a new sensor.
To switch between sensors, simply rightclick existing sensors with a String. Do NOT use a bowl for this! If you do, it will switch the sensor between auto and manual mode.
To remove a lamp from a daylight sensor, simply right click it again with a bowl.
Protection
Both daylight sensors and redstome lamps placed down by users will be protected by this plugin. However, if you have any other grief protection plugins, Nocturnal Lights will try to leave the protection up to that plugin instead.
Note: NocturnalLights will ALWAYS protect sensors and redstone lamps! So if you have a "claim area" grief protection and these are placed outside of claimed areas, NocturnalLights will still protect them even though your area claim protection addon doesn't. Much later it will become possible to completely disable NocturnalLights's protection through its configuration.
Progress
Here you will find a list with all (planned) features. If it's green, it means the feature is implemented. If it's red, it means it's planned but not yet implemented.
noclights.user.register - Allowes registering and controlling own sensors and link lamps to them.
noclights.user.manual - Allowes switchting own sensors between manual and auto mode and gives access to the /nlights switch command.
noclights.admin.control - Allowes Admins to switch all sensors between auto and manual and allowes them to switch all manual sensors on and off.
noclights.admin.break - Allowes Admins to break all sensors and lamps.
Commands
/nlights switch id on/off - Turns lamps registered to a manual sensor on or off. The id will be given to you when you change a sensor to manual mode.
Important things to know
Nocturnal Lights has a slight issue with /reload. It will unlink all sensors from user control. Meaning they'll have to use a String to take control of a sensor before they can continue linking lamps again.
Aside from being inspired by Streetlights Advanced, this plugin is in no way related to it. It is NOT compatable with its database and does not use any of its source code (neither were available to me and I wouldn't use that without the owner's permission).
