The Long Way Home is a vanilla-friendly fast travel addon that lets players create connected travel networks using ordinary Minecraft signs. Explore the world, discover landmarks, and link them together to build your own transportation routes. Once a route has been established, players can quickly travel between connected locations while preserving the sense of exploration and progression that makes Minecraft feel like Minecraft.
How to Use
Create a Route
-
Sneak + Right-click a sign to set the starting point.
-
Travel to your destination.
-
Sneak + Right-click another sign to create a connection.
Fast Travel
Sneak + Right-click a connected sign to begin your journey.
Remove a Route
Break either connected sign, or destroy the block supporting the sign to remove the connection.
Route List
Right-click while holding a Compass to open the Route List, where you can view all discovered routes, destinations, and travel information.
Extra Information
The type of blocks you walk on while recording a route affects travel speed. For example, recording a path on Grass Path blocks results in travel that is 50% faster than recording the same distance across regular grass.
Gameplay values such as Base Distance (the number of blocks that equal 1 second of travel, default: 64) and path speed multipliers can be customized in the configuration file.
